First time here. What a nice Italian eatery. We came randomly on a Sunday afternoon and it wasn't full at all nor was the shopping center it's located in. It's in a quiet area of Moorpark. There's plenty of parking especially because doesn't look like it gets crowded here. It's a pretty big restaurant that serves lunch and dinner. Lunch ends at 3pm and Dinner starts at 5pm so we actually missed lunch but the service let us know what they were still serving including the pastries, gelato and croissant sandwiches. Sandro the guy behind the counter was really nice enough to serve us a complimentary bite of their popular items because it was our first time. He gave us two fritelles and I also got a sugar free hazelnut latte and my fiance got a cannoli. They had a variety of syrups for lattes. My latte tasted just right because I didn't want anything sweet. The fritelle was good but had too much crème filling for me. If you liked really filled donuts then you'd like these. I thought personally it was too rich. The cannoli was a small size but a nice sweet treat. It was a nice experience with great service. We look forward to coming back.

Carrara's pastries are absolutely delicious. I really enjoy the strawberry cheesecake, the Nutella Crostatine di Cereali, and the Shortbread Sandwiches ( they offer them in apricot, raspberry, or Nutella). Everything tastes fresh. Their packaging is also beautiful, which makes their pastries really nice for gifts or bringing to gatherings. I prefer ordering pastries ahead of time and picking them up rather than dining in, and overall I've had mostly good experiences doing that. I did place a pickup order today that was supposed to be ready at 9:45am, but when arrived shortly after that they hadn't started putting it together yet. To be fair, they seemed very short staffed and they gave us some freebies for the wait, which was appreciated. One thing I don't love is the tipping setup. I completely understand tipping when dining in and being served, but it feels uncomfortable being prompted so aggressively for a tip even when you're just grabbing a box of pastries to go. Tip culture everywhere is starting to feel a little out of hand. I'll also be honest that I ordered their Thanksgiving meal a couple years ago and unfortunately it was pretty inedible and not good at all. That said, I haven't tried their lunch sandwiches or dined there for lunch before, so I can't speak on that side of the menu. I still keep coming back because the pastries themselves are truly excellent.

Whenever I come back home for the holidays, I make visiting Carrara's a MUST. The interior and various pastry, gelato, and wine offerings are always displayed so beautifully and adds to the Italian vibe they set. My all time favorite dish is the salmon fettuccine! So flavorful, tasty and balanced with a large and generous amount of salmon and well cooked zucchini and cherry tomatoes that balance the dish wonderfully. We also ordered small gelato in the flavors Carrara and Giandiu which was a sweet way to end the meal. Mason, our server, was very kind, attentive and helpful! He definitely adds to the warm welcoming atmosphere. Can't wait til my next visit home!

We had a wonderful experience last night at Carrara's. Our friend group had enjoyed the holiday show at the High Street Arts Center and were planning to have a meal afterward. We don't always join the group as they have season tickets and we pick and choose performances. They have visited various places on their theater days, but none of them were familiar with Carrara's, so I had suggested it. One of our friends made a reservation ahead of time, so the restaurant had a table set up for us in advance. They were ready for us, even though the show let out early and we arrived about 20 minutes before our reservation. Michelle took excellent care of us. Most of the group shared entrees, as they are generously sized, especially the chicken dishes. Dear Hubby and I shared some samples of our respective orders with each other. I was quite hungry and finished my entree of gnocchi. It was supposed to come with pesto sauce, but I thought that would be too rich, so I asked for marinara with a side of pesto. That allowed me to drizzle the pesto sauce on top and enjoy both signature Italian flavors. It was delicious! The gnocchi itself was among the lightest texture I'd ever had, which made it the opposite of heavy. I thoroughly enjoyed it. DH's Chicken Milanese was prepared in a wonderful style, as well. His came with a side salad. It would be nice to have a small potion of pasta with it, I would say. I saw a lot of plates cleaned down to the porcelain with just a smidge of sauce left. One couple especially enjoyed the shrimp pasta dish after having the caprese appetizer. DH and I encouraged the group to check out the dessert options. We followed our own advice. He went for the rum baba pastry, and I tried the Trilogia chocolate masterpiece. I also had a smooth decaf mocha cappuccino with oat milk. No one left hungry or without their taste buds being taken to a happy state.

I thought it was great. The seating inside and outside were comfortable. Lots of space and greenery. The pastries looked and tasted good. The coffee was great. So many good options for vegetarian food on the menu. Tasty. Very kind, quick, and helpful staff. I didn't have any, but there are also multiple kinds of interesting gelato to choose from. The bathrooms were very clean and minimal. And it was a clean and relaxed environment. It has high ceilings but it's comfy. I was surprised that it was so expansive. I think it's a good place. It made me happy. I recommend trying it.

Went in for dinner on a Friday night. There was live music and we were seated on the other side of the restaurant, so it was a good background noise and we could still talk. Ordered fried calamari and it seems they've returned to the generous portion of veggies added to the calamari (yum). Dinner was the meatball sandwich, which was always good, but if you've come back in the day, it no longer comes with the broccolini. My wife said her fries weren't as crispy as before, but it wasn't a deal breaker. Our werver was attentive and friendly, even catching me when I forgot to put away my credit card .

Had an early Mother's Day dinner here after a local suggested it. Everything was amazing. The vibe was adorable. Had the spaghetti and meatballs, fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp, and lasagna. Started withy heir special for the night as an appetizer and it was delicious. Ended with two pastures and had a bottle of red . Everything was delicious, but I think the lasagna was the favorite.

We popped in for dessert and were warmly greeted by the owner. The Frittelle is a decadent fluffy pastry filled with pastry cream and oh so delicious. The Sfogliatelle, a pastry with crispy layers and filled with ricotta cheese and orange zest, is unique and satisfying. We also enjoyed a rum baba dripping with rum. A guitarist was playing live music which really added to the ambience. You can order pastries to go in beautiful gift packaging. It would bring a smile to anyone.

Are there vegan dinner options, please?

I think I did see some on the menu if you look them up it should tell you!

Vegan options for dessert or lunch?

Yes, but as far as I know, there is only one vegan dessert option. I could be wrong.

Do they have non-dairy birthday cakes?

They have a catering line- I'm sure you can request!

Oh how I wish you would make zeppoles? Wonderful dollops of fried dough served in a brown paper bag with lots of powdered sugar.

They have these amazing pastries called fritelle that are similar - rolled in sugar instead of powdered sugar and filled with a delightfully light chantilly cream.

The burrito was nothing like the first one I had. This one was watery, thin, and just tasted completely different. I assume it's because the chef at night makes them differently than the one in the AM who made the first one I had. Updating again, we have tried this place for a third time, and we placed an online order through their website about 45 minutes ago. We came to pick up the order, and they are so busy, they didn't even have the order, they only just put it in now. This is unfortunate because it creates an inconvenience for us. If you allow online ordering, you should have the order ready by the stated time. This does put a sour taste in our mouth.. However- this burrito was back to tasting as delicious as the first I had gotten. So it seems the morning is the time to have the breakfast burrito!

They have so many delicious handmade, fresh and innovative flavors as well as Italian staples like hazelnut, chocolate, pistachio and vanilla. They had vegan and Gluten Free options too that looked very good. After sampling pistachio, I had to have it. The other members of the family had mango, mint, stracciatella, and dulce de leche. Every single flavor was made of pure ingredients, not with artificial flavoring or coloring. It was just as good as being in Italy, or in any of the high end gelaterias in Little Italy SD! It was nice and clean inside and they even had a really cute little Vespa you can take pictures with ( not sitting on it;). The gelato is a bit pricy - $8 for a single scoop and it goes up from there, but given the quality of the ingredients, I think it is worth it to support a local business who is putting in the work and delivering quality. I came here to try out California Bun, an eatery that has harnessed an interesting (long overdue) concept, to package portable food. Here they prepare snack sized bites (or a little more) of favorite food fancies, enveloped in a daily fresh baked round brioche bun. The store is high ceiling, spacious and large, with ample space to dine in or carry out. It is a mom and pop joint, that is slowly but surely, beginning to make a mark. On the main wall, elegantly displayed, are all the many enticing varieties, for the day. My visit was designed to take something to go. The conundrum here is, what to order, because there were so many inviting choices that were talking to you. I finally decided to select three of these evenly browned and differently topped buns. The El Sabroso (Egg, cheddar & jack cheese, bacon & Jalapeno salsa, garnished with Cheese, bacon & jalapeño). The Roadside Burger (Seasoned ground beef, grilled onions, white American cheese, & secret house burger sauce, garnished with Cheese & bacon). The Mac Daddy (Creamy mac and cheese with a cheddar, jack, and parmesan cheese blend, garnished with Panko bread crumbs). So whats the verdict? The Mac Daddy was my least favorite. In comparing the other two, the Roadside Burger seemed to have the higher of (inside filling/inside bread) ratio, as compared to the El Sabroso. However, the latter is the most attractive bun on the outside and overall, contains a good mix of flavors and slight kick. Any food with a visible Jalapeño is a magnet, for me. Still, this concoction needs more of the egg mixture, to achieve the right balance. In general, all 3 buns were soft, had a nice texture, bread taste and chew. Service here is warm, inviting, friendly and informative.

We honestly were not sure if we wanted to make the drive to Moorpark again, but given Phil's extended efforts, we felt it was only right to give Freda's another try. Our last visit was during Mother's Day weekend, so we thought to come for brunch on Father's Day. It was busy when we arrived, but the host team managed the flow of customers very well. While being seated, the timing of the next reservation was mentioned, allotting an hour and a half for our time there. This was more than enough, and we were graciously thanked for our understanding. Shortly after, Danielle came to greet us, apologized for the previous dining experience and showed sincere appreciation for having us again. We had two servers for our section, Nathan being our primary one, but as before, we felt the entire team worked exceptionally well in taking care of customers. We started with the Focaccia Rustico which was the best part of our last meal. This arrived heavily toasted. We prefer the softer version from our dinner, but it was still very good. The husband was eager to try the French Dip, and it did not disappoint. The sandwich had the perfect ratio of meat to bread. The au jus was flavorful, along with the horseradish spread. The fries were, hot, crisp and nicely seasoned. I ordered the Dutch Baby. It arrived freshly made in the cast iron pan, with sides of butter, syrup and berry compote. This was my first time having the German pancake and it was delicious! It will now be on my radar when having brunch elsewhere, but Freda's is the standard that others will follow. Team members checked on us often, as they did with other customers. Danielle stopped by a couple more times. We were thanked again, as we left, for giving them another chance. After cutting it in half the center looked firm and somewhat dry. It tasted a bit bland but after putting extra marinara sauce on it greatly improved the taste. The shrimp was ok but it did not stand out. The portions of both seemed small, probably adjusted due to the special menu. The bread that came with the dishes were good, warm and toasty. I really enjoyed the French Dip, the prime rib was tender, and the au jus and horseradish sauce enhanced the flavor. However the horseradish sauce didn't have the kick I was anticipating, so maybe more "horse" or more "radish"? Mediterranean chicken was also delicious. The fries were thin and crispy. Mimosa was refreshing. Service was great, our server Stephen was attentive and checked on us often. Overall it was an enjoyable first experience.
