This place is adorable! I love that it's a restaurant, cafe, and cute boutique. I dined for lunch and loved their half sandwich half soup option. The adult grilled cheese and lobster bisque was delicious! Service was great as well!

Went here for a Birthday dinner and actually never heard of this place until we went. It's a little restaurant that's tucked into a strip mall and has a little store attached to it. The ambiance was cute and def had like a little romantic vibe to it. Really liked the tables with the booths and the hanging lights outside. Inside there was low lighting and it wasn't crowded on a Saturday night and was quite. I'm not too sure what happened with the service but we were a table of 7, and there were three couples, and the waitress asked the first two couples what the wanted for drinks and an appetizer and forgot to ask us. When the drinks came and the drinks came some time after we ordered them, we put in for our appetizer and she told us it won't be there till the main order comes. With several appetizers ordered we waited and waited some more. Scallops, mushroom flatbread, fried green tomatoes, and chicken pesto pizza. The appetizers definitely took some time to arrive. But they tasted good! The tomatoes had a nice crunch and a spiced Mayo on the top. The mushroom flatbread was good and had fat sliced it mushrooms on it and red onions and was hot and cheesy, the pesto chicken pizza was the best tasting thing there from the night with sun dried tomatoes, arugula, and a light pesto taste. The scallops there were good, and not overcooked. After we ate the appetizers and waited and waited and then complimentary little bread squares came. We ate them and waited some more for our food. It arrived and the bay bistro burger was ordered a medium doneness and it was well done and not seasoned at all. Was supposed to have portobello mushrooms and Brie on it and didn't. I just ate it cause we were coming up on two hours in to waiting there and I was hungry and not wanting to wait a long while for the right order. The pasta was pretty good, and the seafood was decent. Another round of drinks were ordered but everyone came but my husbands and he waited and waited and asked the waitress and she said she forgot and he said to just forget it. Overall it was really fun hanging out with my friends for a birthday but I'm not sure I would come back due to the food and the service.

High class and always great food and drink. This has always been my niece's favorite place to come for lunch. Nice open area with beautiful chandeliers and elegant decor. The Staff have always been friendly and always keeping your glass filled. We can never leave without going over to get something to satisfy a sweet tooth. They have it all . But I do believe our favorites are the gourmet chocolates. They come in so many amazing flavors I would never me able to name them all. We both love getting some to go. They have a really cool shopping side and you can get meals to go on that side too. Like I said over the years this is our #1 place

Back Bay Gourmet has it all!! Great Food, Great Service, delightful ambiance, wonderful drinks and even a little gift shop with awesome decor for sale. They offer a bakery full of items to take home with you!!! Speaking of take home, they even have a lot of pre cooked and frozen items to buy and bring home for the days you want to eat something delish but do not want to visit a fast food joint! Like I said, they have it all! I highly recommend Back Bay Gourmet!!

I am literally in the restaurant as I write this. It's a real time review....11:18 am. It's a very nice place for lunch or dinner. It's a subdued, quiet environment and would be great for a ladies luncheon. I just got my food at 11:19....it came out very quick. I got the BLT and Thai salad. But more about the food later. They have a little shop attached with unique and cute gifts such as coffee mugs, cocktail napkins, plates etc. They have a small bar but I wonder if it's only open at night. They also have a gourmet To go menu which are ready made meals for families. The menu has everything on it from lasagna, pork chops, chicken enchiladas and Sheppard pie. It looks like they have some outside tables. There is plenty of parking since it's in a strip mall. If you aren't familiar with the area it can be hard to find but only because this area is so built up now. Sophia was my waitress and was very nice. Everything was prompt and she remembered no ice in my water. It's now 11:39 and I have finished, my plates cleared and Sophia brought me my check. Now the food....the salad was delicious. And a nice size. Dressing was on the side which I love. Very fresh and the dressing was delicious. The BLT was ok. Nothing special but the bacon was nice and crispy which I love. One tomato and some iceberg. Not impressive. I could see my mother coming here with her friends. I would come here for dinner but I personally prefer a more casual environment for lunch. I would come back and would recommend to certain people.

Although we sat outside (because we were dining with a dog), we never had to wait too long for the waitress to check on us. Every 5-10 minutes, she dropped by to make sure things were going well and to refill our coffee. Since The Egg Bistro has a HUGE breakfast menu, I'm sure everyone should be able to find something that they will/might enjoy. For my dining pleasure, I tried something new and went with the Bennie & the Grits. This dish piqued my interest because I never heard of grits cakes in the four decades of living on this planet. For about 20 bucks, the dish included three fried grit cakes with ground sausage, grilled shrimp, more sausage, two poached eggs and a side. Although the serving size was HUGE, I was not a bit fan of the dish. Note, I didn't think the dish was prepared badly, I just didn't get the concept of the fried grits (this from a grits lover); however, everything else with the dish was pretty good. If you are a Bloody Mary lover, you might some interesting varieties of Bloody Marys here. Additionally, I really appreciated that The Egg Bistro ranks the Bloody Marys based on spice level. Overall, I definitely would not mind visiting this location during a future trip to Va Beach. The only (very) minor issue that I had was that the outdoor seating is right next to the parking lot so you might experience some exhaust fumes/smoke while eating if you chose to dine outside. Again, this would not have been a (very) minor issue if we were not dining with a dog.

Once arrived you'll be greeted by the valet homies! Get yourself a drink from my guy at the side bar bc it will be at least an hour wait. I'm down for that tho because the ambiance and outdoorzy garden area is always chill for sun vibes and photos. Once you're seated that wait time will be well worth it bc everything on the menu is A1 but those Pungonian Shrimp & Grits!..... My God! An banger every time no questions. The steak and eggs, the pancakes, the mimosa flights, etc, Everything is worth the try! And oh...those biscuits.....with the butter and jam...man oh man. Outside of wait time and drive its a 5/5 stars. If i was one of those people who are mad impatient i would sit this one out bc you're gonna be chillin but if you're like me and like to chill, just get there early and enjoy! Won't disappoint. I highly recommend trying the cinnamon roll. It's served warm, loaded with sweet glaze, and is large enough to share with up to four people. We also ordered the biscuits with sausage gravy and a chorizo omelette, substituting the goat cheese for cheddar. Both dishes were outstanding and offered great value for the price. The wait can be long, especially on weekends, but the experience while waiting actually adds to the charm. There's an outdoor bar with plenty of drinks to choose from, covered patios for relaxing, and even board games to enjoy while you wait for your table. The service was excellent from start to finish. Free valet parking is also available, though tipping is definitely encouraged. I highly recommend giving this place a try if you're in the Virginia Beach area

Plant Bingo at Sage Kitchen was a fun evening overall. Check-in was smooth, and the staff did a…read moregreat job explaining how the game worked and what to expect before everything got started. The game itself was lively, well-paced, and everyone seemed to have a great time. The patio where the event was held is beautiful, and it was spacious enough for the crowd. The only downside to the seating was that some guests ended up behind a wall where they could hear the caller but couldn't actually see her or the plants being awarded. One suggestion that I think would make the event even better is the prize structure. When there are ties, the winners have to play rock-paper-scissors to determine who gets the plant. While that's part of the fun, I felt bad for the people who won their bingo card but ultimately went home with a donated T-shirt, soil, or plant food instead of a plant. Even a small, inexpensive plant for the runner-up would make the experience feel more rewarding, especially since the event is centered around plants. The food and service were a bit of a mixed experience. I ordered the California Club with sweet potato fries, and it was delicious. However, the menu was more limited than expected, and we were told some of the regular menu items (including the tacos!) weren't available during the event. Our server was genuinely pleasant and did the best she could, but she appeared to be covering more tables than one person reasonably should. Service was slow, and we had to remind her about our drinks after our food had already arrived. It felt more like a staffing issue than a service issue. One thing I didn't care for was the payment process. We were only brought a credit card slip with the total to add a tip and sign after our card had already been charged. We had to specifically ask for an itemized receipt to review the charges. I would have preferred the opportunity to see the bill before my card was run or at least have the option to use a different payment method. The event advertising was also a little misleading. The description said, "Join us for 20 rounds of bingo, raffle entries, plant prizes, tacos & drinks!" Based on that wording, it certainly sounded like tacos and non-alcoholic beverages were included with the ticket price. Instead, everything had to be purchased separately, and we were told the tacos (which are on the regular restaurant menu) weren't even available during the event due to the limited event menu. Clarifying that food and drinks are available for purchase would help set better expectations. Despite those issues, we genuinely enjoyed ourselves. I was fortunate enough to win one of the plants, and it's beautiful. My suggestions are simply things I think would make an already fun event even better for everyone. The energy of Plant Bingo, the beautiful patio, the organized check-in, and the friendly atmosphere made for an enjoyable evening, and with a few improvements to the prize distribution, staffing, payment process, and event advertising, it could easily become an even better experience.

I recently attended plant bingo hosted at Sage Kitchen located inside the Anderson garden Center…read more  I was promptly greeted and directed to the check-in table. The check-in process was seamless; my group received our bingo cards and the flyer outlining the 20 game plays, and we appreciated the flexibility of the indoor and outdoor seating. The service was both friendly and efficient. We were required to start a tab; I was unsure if this is standard policy or specific to the event, but either way it worked out well. I ordered the Baja bowl: grilled chicken, black beans, corn, cheddar cheese, tomatoes, and avocado served on cilantro-lime rice topped with tortilla strips and Aji Verde sauce. My bowl was delicious, fresh and portioned just right. The plant selections for the prizes were great, I actually won a Pothos Yellow Flame. I do have two suggestions: 1. Consider having extra plant prizes available for tie-breaking rounds instead of playing rock-paper-scissors. If you win you deserve a plant. 2. It would be helpful if guests were provided with a copy of their bill to verify for accuracy before their card is charged and the tab is closed. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed the meal and the event. I look forward to returning to Sage Kitchen soon.

I ordered the Williamsburg Bagel, which consisted of lox, plain cream cheese, tomato, capers, and red onion. I originally wanted it on an Everything bagel, but since they were out, I went with a Garlic bagel instead. Even though it was a tad bit crowded, my sandwich was ready in about 5 mins. I've had the Williamsburg Bagel before so I was excited to enjoy it again but I wasn't a big fan of the thick-cut red onions they added on there, and I actually love onions! Unfortunately, I ended up taking most of them off. I also wish it had more cream cheese, the thin layer on the bottom just wasn't enough for me. That said, the bagel itself was fresh and overall, the sandwich tasted good. At almost $20, it did feel a little pricey for a bagel sandwich, but I enjoyed it. I'd definitely come back to try other options. The interior is full of Brooklyn pictures, which I love! Definitely check them out if you're in the area!

My husband and a friend came here on a Thursday morning to order 6 items and they were gone for almost an hour (it was a 10 minute drive from where we stayed). They come back with a bag of "bagels" (if that's what you want to call them) drenched in ketchup. Our orders were extremely simple: BEC w/PK on a plain bagel Egg and cheese on a croissant BEC w/PK on an asiago bagel Taylored Ham, egg & cheese on a bagel Toasted everything bagel with lox & cream cheese Here is everything that went wrong: 1. The bagel store didn't offer BACON, so we ended up substituting for sausage. The sausage patty was probably the size of my kid's palm- that's how small it was. The eggs were overcooked and had no taste, but don't worry, they'll make sure to smother the entire bagel with ketchup to make up for it. 2. TOASTED bagel with lox & cream cheese- bagel was not toasted, and there wasn't any lox available. 3. Egg & cheese on a croissant- the place didn't have any croissants... so had to substitute this for a roll 4. It was the chef's second day in the kitchen. Bagels alone wasn't great quality..it was edible enough, but extremely chewy and stiff, especially after taking so long to prepare the orders and with two people working in a place that is seemingly popular with the Yelp Community, the amount of time it took this order to be ready was a little ridiculous. I ordered the same thing back home the following day and it took less time to make here in NJ than it did here on a non-busy day with just my husband and friend as their sole customer at the time.
