I came back to this restaurant months after my first visit because I wanted to give them another chance. Unfortunately, I had another negative experience with the same woman, who I was told today is the manager. When I went to pay for my online order, I inserted my bank card into the payment system, but the screen on my end was blank. It did not display the order total, indicate that my card was being recognized, or provide any payment prompts. She repeatedly told me that my card was not working and asked whether I had another card. I explained that I did not believe my card was the problem because the machine was not displaying anything. I could not even see the amount I was being asked to pay. She continued insisting that the issue was my card. At one point, she became frustrated, snatched the card from my hand, and tried it herself. When it still did not work, she again blamed the card. I then tried to use Apple Pay with the same bank card. She asked, "Oh, you're going to Apple Pay?" and I said yes. When I attempted the payment, my entire phone screen suddenly went black and my phone turned off which was strange. My phone had been charged, and I could not turn it back on while I was inside the restaurant. It did not come back on until I walked out. I cannot say what caused this, but it added to an already uncomfortable situation. During this process, she showed me the bag or order to tell me the total, but that was part of my concern. I should have been able to see the amount on the payment screen before repeatedly inserting my card or trying another payment method. She eventually brought over a different payment system. As soon as I used it, the total appeared on the screen, my card was recognized, and the payment went through without any problem. This confirmed that my bank card was not unusable. There was no apology for repeatedly insisting that my card was the problem, no acknowledgment that the first payment system was not working properly, and no apology for snatching my card from my hand. She simply completed the transaction and walked away. This was especially disappointing because I had already experienced rude service from the same person months earlier and intentionally returned to give the restaurant another chance. Learning that she is apparently the manager makes the situation even more concerning. I understand that technology can malfunction. My concern is how I was treated while explaining what I could clearly see on my end. A payment issue should never result in a customer being spoken to dismissively or having their card snatched from their hand. read more

Went here for date night, the indoor atmosphere is great. The days flames are really cool. We were seated pretty quickly (arriving about 5:30 in a Friday evening. We ordered drinks and checked out the buffet bar. This is not large and has limited items. You could build a small salad, get some sauces, soups and 3 different deserts. We sat back down and ordered our first round, requested utensils and sprayed the grill. The table was large for 2 people but 4 would be fine for seating but don't order too much at one time. The meat was good but a good amount of it was very fatty and chewy when eating. The flavor was good. The chicken was great as was the bulgogi, honey beef, garlic prawns and cheesy mussels. They clear your empty trays quickly and replace the grill often. Refills were a plenty as was the ability to order more food. Paying for our bill was a bit slow, but overall I'd say this is good for an AYCE. At no point did we feel rushed and ended the experience overall. read more

I think Back Street is fine? Like, it's certainly not the best AYCE KBBQ you can get in the burbs, but within like a 30 minute radius, it may be the only option. And the sushi you can get is pretty much what you'd expect from any AYCE sushi spot...so not the greatest quality, but serviceable enough. And you get both in one spot, along with some ice cream to top off the night which is nice. We did appreciate how the KBBQ meat came in smaller plates so you could order more, and I liked how there were vents in the grill to suck away the smoke without a big vent over your head. You do gotta be careful with what meats you get though, as they're not all created equal. I thought the ribeye would be good, but it's a lot thinner than the pictures and too lean. Go with the marbled beef cubes and the galbi or bulgogi. Also, pretty much none of the meats are seasoned, so be sure to have the salt shaker handy as needed. So overall it'll satisfy your carving for meat if you don't want to drive too far. I'd definitely rather go to like Iron Age or Mr. Kimchi, but if I want to make sure I can pass out from too much meat quickly after my meal, I can see myself making the 5 minute drive here instead. read more

But the service was pretty good and attentive. The sushi was yummy. And, of course, the Korean bbq. What's not to love. I do think it was a little... different... that we cooked our own mussels at the table. I just assumed they would come cooked. There is a separate bar for sauces and what not. A combination of Korean bbq and sushi with the added challenge of an AYCE menu, this modern, open space adds to the popular K-bbq scene. Decorative "smoke" sets the scene as you walk in with spacious tables. There are grills at each table and the staff were fairly quick to replace the grills once each round of meat had cooked. There are a few banchan (Korean side dishes) you can order for the table, but unlike other restaurants, you will not be automatically given an array of banchan. Also, there is no rice automatically served, which is fine bc if you order sushi there is plenty of rice under the fish. Also, why eat rice at an AYCE???? We had the short ribs, pork belly, spicy pork belly, and tongue. The marinade for the short ribs and spicy pork was fine for AYCE but the flavors could be better - less pepper and more soy sauce and gochujjang. We also ordered a variety of rolls and sushi - a little heavy on the rice but that's what I've come to expect at an AYCE where it leans towards quantity over quality. There is a section off to the side for soup (I also passed), fruit, and dessert. Not a bad addition to the Asian food scene in the west burbs. I'd give it 3.5 stars but I'll round up for attentive service. read more

They have a self serve sauce/salad/soup bar by the entrance. They didn't have much sauce selection but I really enjoyed dipping my beef cube with the seasoning that was on the table. They don't have a wide varieties of meat selection but the ones they do have are delicious. Let me tell you, the service here was amazing. Really great option if you can't just pick sushi or Korean BBQ! Fun for a date night or just a change of pace! The food was really good overall! Sushi was tasty and fresh, meat was plentifully, and so were sides and drinks. There were many items to choose from, so almost anyone could find something to enjoy. There were many veggie options that would be welcoming for someone that is vegetable forward in their diet. I will say a lot of the meat is on the fatty side. While that is not unusual for Korean BBQ, the meat was exceptionally fatty. Their sauces also could be better. They had bottles labeled "sesame oil", but it is not roasted sesame oil that is standard at most Korean BBQ places. Red miso sauce was also missing from their options. A small warning that their grills use electric to heat and there is a bit of a learning curve. We are accustomed to a gas or charcoal Korean BBQ, so cooking with the electric took a few tries to get right. The ambiance is super fun! The whole restaurant plays happy birthday for people celebrating. Great if you want a bright mood for a nice night out! The decor was fun too with a faux fire effect down the middle of the restaurant. Service was an A+! The staff was quick to bring out orders and check-in throughout the meal. Came for lunch on a Saturday afternoon with hubby, little one, and a friend. The restaurant is pretty spacious so we were seated right away. We all had the AYCE BBQ ($34 per adult and $17 per child). I wish they had different pricing for younger versus older kids. I couldn't justify paying $17 for my child who literally only ate a bowl of edamame and some gyoza. Meat/sushi orders must be placed with one of the employees. We had the following meats: bulgolgi beef, marbled beef cubes, beef tongue, pork belly, angus beef, ribeye steak, and cheese corn. The quality of the meats weren't great and some of them were pretty tough. Out of all the meats we had the marbled beef cubes were probably the only good one. At some point I just got tired of eating so I stopped even though I wasn't full despite it being all you can eat. Service was decent and they checked on us frequently. read more

The ambiance was stunning--very wide open seating and well lit. Such a great variety of options for the price of $39/pp. I will say, I left so full yet still wanted to eat more. The sushi is all made to order, which I really appreciate. The rolls were well executed and tasted fresh and delicious. We got a variety of meats and seafood to grill, and there were plenty of sides and appetizers to choose from. The salad bar was well stocked, and they even had a dessert bar. The ice cream was really good too--they serve Hershey's and had vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, mint, raspberry sherbet, and orange sherbet. Seriously, this was one of the best AYCE BBQ and sushi restaurants I've been to. While it's not authentic Korean BBQ, it's still very good. I honestly don't do Korean BBQ all the time, but this is one of the better Korean BBQs that I've been to. It's a bit far from where I live in Chicago, but the trip to Hanover park might be worth it for the ACYE. Not only do get an all you can eat meats and veggies, but you can order all you can eat sushi as well. First, the food and ingredients for the BBQ are very good. I felt the meat, veggies and seafood I ordered to grill were high quality and tasty. I didn't order a lot of the sushi, but I liked what I did order. Second, the atmosphere is fun and exciting. While a little dark, the restaurant plays K-pop and J-pop music videos projected onto the restaurant wall non-stop. It made dinner that much more fun. Lastly, the service was great. Our waitress was attentive, but also gave space to cook and didn't apply pressure to leave or eat more quickly. First off, I have to say, your sushi is consistently out of this world. Seriously, I'm absolutely obsessed, especially with the Gorilla roll. New KBBQ in town!! This is so close to home, and I frequent the sister restaurant Zen Ramen right next store often. The place is so much bigger than it looks from the outside, and it's very cool looking with the fake smoke machines and KPOP playing on projectors on the walls. It is all you can eat, including a salad/dessert bar AND sushi. It's an incredible bargain, and the things come out from the kitchen relatively quick. The staff are very helpful if you've never been before, and the portions are a good size. read more

They need to remove the tongue option as it was so hard to chew.Sauces were not good in my opinion. Lots of choices though plus japanese food.
