One of the few places that have oatly! Oat milk is hard to come across in Chicago. Great spot to read and get work done. I was here for 5+ hours! And it flew by. That's how comfortable I was. Plenty of outlets, solid coffee and baked good options and great WiFi. Def coming back often. read more

I am so happy that a coffee shop like this exists in my neighborhood! The coffee is amazing (they have Stumptown beans-YESSSS) and I love that they have pastries and breakfast tacos from local vendors-I'm sitting here eating an apple cider donut as I'm typing this review and wish I had bought a 2nd one. I've gone here twice. There mocha is amazing. One of the best I've ever had. I have them 4 stars because they charge more for iced drinks and no one could tell me why. Other than that great coffee! Changing this to 5 stars because it's worth it so I just pay the fee! read more

I had the matcha latte with oat Milk. This months special had lavender in it. And O M G. It was outstanding. The staff was very friendly with me and the crowd had a nice relaxed vibe. I found free street parking. I would definitely go back here and hopefully get to try some of the bakery treats. read more

My sister and her husband are always looking for a great coffee place by our home in Old Irving Park. I call them "coffee snobs" as they normally prefer locally brewed coffee. Over the last few years we have tried different spots, none of which they cared for so when I saw Backlot had some great reviews we tried it. They loved the coffee and were overjoyed about Do-Rite donuts-met too! My mom loves tea and they offer fresh loose leaf tea from Japan that is sold locally in Ravenswood! So now my family is completely sold on Backlot Coffee and I will be coming by for tea and donuts too! read more

Backlot Backlot where have you been? In Evanston I hear but finally where I live! I can't get enough of this place. COFFEE IS UHH MAEE ZAANNG. Great place to grab a coffee before hopping on the expressway. This coffee soothes my driving experience to work. Thank you, you've made the morning traffic a little more tolerable thanks to those addicting donuts. The baristas are so friendly I thought about adding them on Facebook, but I don't want to lose the customer-barista relationship so I will leave it as is. There is plenty of parking around, enough space to sit and good outdoor lighting. read more

The coffee is ridiculously delicious (their lattes are my favorite) and the carefully curated array of local pastries/food items are all fantastic (don't skip the banana bread with chocolate chips) but what keeps me coming back is the staff. Not the best coffee shop in Chicago but it's pretty great! The people who work there are so nice and welcoming. The do-rite donuts are not always fresh- I got a cold, hard inedible gluten-free one. Very clean. Almost too clean. I like those cafes with mismatched furniture, gritty, kinda odd.... But it's nice and clean. Cappuccino was well done. (Remember, I used to own a coffee shop -MoJoes) the space is near Irving Park metra and blue line so parking was awful. The little lot is always full too due to potbelly's & Lou malnati so good luck. But I bet commuters LOVE this spot. The music was killer, the sell bang bang biscuits but not much more. Croissants, cookies, cakes. Good stuff. The high ceilings and flooring made my conversation loud so it was awkward talking with my friend. Everyone could hear. Until some others came to chat in their group. But all the laptops, study peeps could easily listen. Again, I like a furniture and book heavy cafe to absorb all the noise. In this case, I'd turn the music louder a touch to cover conversation. I didn't try WiFi but I assume it was strong. I'll go back but I still favor others over this. Again, good coffee and biscuit! Yum. read more

Great alternative to Starbucks. To be honest we come in primarily for the Do-Rite donuts and the coffee is just a bonus, so it's disappointing that they didn't have much by noon our last two visits. Please get more chocolate old fashioned stock! read more
