It would be impossible for me to love this place more! I stopped here for the torta de chilaquiles and it was incredible. The bread alone was worth the price, and then the chilaquiles were so flavorful. I want to try it with the egg next time, but honestly it was perfect as-is. I also got the arroz con leche roll and it was absolute perfection. The best cinnamon roll ever - so soft and flavorful! My only regret is that I have only one stomach (and that they're only open two days a week when I wanted to go back again the next week). Really can't recommend this place enough! There are long lines and it can be a bit of a wait, but for good reason. Get the bread! And the cinnamon rolls! i got up at 7:30am for this place and when i tell you this was so worth it. We waited for no more than 30 minutes from open until we got our food and pastries. The earlier you get there, the more options you have. we not only got a torta de huevos con chilaquiles en salsa roja y verde con carne asada, and 6 pastries. all of which were delicious. The workers were so sweet, it made the place feel like i was back in mexico in my mother's hometown. The ambience is warm and very welcoming. This spot is only open on Saturdays and Sundays, and there's always a long line. As soon as I heard they had a Chile Relleno croissant, I knew I had to try it. We arrived around 8:30 AM and there was already a line out the door. It took about an hour before we got to the front of the line to order. The seating inside is limited but I love how they blend traditional Mexican pan dulce with French style pastries. We ordered the Chile Relleno croissant of course, Arroz Con Leche cinnamon roll, Ube Flan croissant, and Gansito croissant. Everything was really good but overall, it's not something I'd wait in line for every weekend. I've seen this place multiple times when I driven by Fullerton and I always say I will come by. Finally came and let me tell you, the options in the pastries is overwhelming. There is so much variety that you can't go wrong in picking one. I ordered a box of 6 pastries. SPARE YOURSELVES THE TRIP. We went after hearing raving reviews and all the Instagram hype. However, we were greatly disappointed and would like to spare you the trip. First of all, we waited two and a half hours (arrived at 8:10, and weren't served until 10:40). Then, we saw insane prices, which had been clearly marked up recently (you could see the previous prices had been covered, and the new prices were written on top). 2 pastries are $14, bagels are $10, and breakfast sandwiches are $9!!! To make it even more ridiculous, they have a "$1 surcharge due to egg shortage" which is not even relevant right now, and also insane to add to an already expensive and rather small sandwich (9+1=$10). They are clearly taking advantage of the hype, and I would not recommend the wait at all. For instance, una torta de frijol (a bread with beans), which is arguably one of the most affordable foods in Mexico, is sold for $6. The pastries are good, but definitely not for the price nor the wait. They are already charging out of their asses for every single item, yet they still have the audacity to have the automated tip suggestions going up to 30%--an insane option for a pickup service not even a sit-down service. read more

When I tried to exchange it the girl said it was NOT possible to exchange it. Pan Artesanal is only open on Saturday & Sunday from 8am to whenever they run out (usually by 12ish). To say I'm obsessed is an understatement. I've been wanting to come here for a while now, but my only question is why are they only open on the weekends? I mean damn. These guys sellout everyday buy noon. So if you want one of their baked goods, you have to arrive early. We came a little late, and was only able to get their danish with peach. And it was unbelievably delicious. It was perfectly baked, very fluffy and buttery on the inside and had a nice crisp on the outside. I wouldn't mind getting this again, but there's some other items they offer that I wanted to try. Lesson learned. Arrive early next time. I also ordered their tres leches iced coffee. I thought it was going to be too sweet, but wanted to try it anyways. Good thing I was wrong. It was sweet but perfectly balanced with the coffee. A very addicting drink that's perfect on a hot summer morning. My wife also ordered their Mexican coffee. It was also tasty and strong. Best "hidden" gem for sweet pastry in the city, although it's not hidden to locals who line up at 7:30a or before for the 8a doors to open. If you are not near the front of the line don't be surprised if they are already selling out of items. We snatched the Apple cheese danish, the strawberry flaky square croissant and two of their to die for cinnamon rolls. Easily all the best we've had in Chicago and at very reasonable prices to boot! What's more is that the staff are sweet and efficient and the customers aren't pretentious. Come for the great food and stay for the good vibes. read more

I want to start with a disclaimer: this place is tough to get what you want unless you get there before 7:45am. With that being said, it is WORTH getting there before 7:45am. My wife and I heard about this place from a friend, and made the journey here. We arrived at 7:40, and were ~6th in line. Once we got inside, we were greeting by the most incredible smell of baked goods and coffee. Everything looked delicious (as you can see in my picture), but we decided on a box of four pastries and a cinnamon roll. I cannot BEGIN to describe how incredible the food was. The Tiramisu Churro (which is not shaped like a churro) was hands down one of the best pastries I've had in years. The 3 leches coffee was amazing, if not a little sweet. But if you are used to Starbucks, try this instead. It will blow your mind. In summary, don't let the limited hours turn you off of this place; make the effort and give it a try. Did I wait 30 minutes on a Saturday around 930? Yes and I should have known better. My goal was to get a chile relleno pastry but there were none left. The line moved slowly but it gave me time to look at the other pastries along the counter. I got a blueberry croissant and a carrot cake. Blueberry was better. The breakfast sandwhiches were good. I wouldn't get the horchata latte again since there was barely any coffee taste in it. It was however a good milky horchata, very decadent. I have been meaning to write this review for a long time! I found this shop early 2019 when craving a pastry and sandwich after enduring a few long hours at the social security office. Pan Artesanal offers delicious pastries, fresh, strong coffee, and amazing sandwiches. The chicken chipotle sandwich and chori-huevo breakfast sandwiches are always my go-to. And you can't go wrong with any of the pastries. But, as other reviewers have mentioned, the customer service here can be really hit or miss. I would give 3 stars for service to be honest. They are only open on the weekends until early afternoon, making the wait times very long. My experience in the shop really depends on who takes care of me. One time I was skipped over, and not addressed until I spoke up, and another time my order completely forgotten. There have also been a few times I was given the wrong order. What makes these situations worse is that I was made to seem like a bother for speaking up. I understand that the shop is busy, but it is busy because of how amazing your food is. If you want less demand on the weekends, then it is time to open up during the week. read more

I recommend Pan Artesanal for fresh, baked daily bread or pastries and a fantastic cup o' Joe (the iced coffee is fantastic!). Located on Fullerton (West Logan Square) it is a nice walk from most parts of Logan Square (down Fullerton). We tried- ChoriHuevo torta (Organic egg, homemade chorizo, queso fresco on homemade French Baguette). So good! I was worried when I first saw the bread as it looked very thick and doughy. HOWEVER... it is not at all doughy at all. It's actually perfect to sop up all of the chorizo fat. I really savored the torta, especially the fresh queso fresco. Cafe con Leche- traditional cafe con leche. My husband loves coffee and mentioned this was a great coffee. Tres Leches iced coffee- personally I love iced coffee and this is a good option. I would say that it is a bit sweet (as tres leches pastel is) so if this isn't for you then I'd pass on it. Pan Ranchero- semi-sweet baguette-style bread. Delicious for sandwiches. I would say a couple of cons that I noticed. 1) The line, and wait, are so long. We arrived at 8:07 a.m. and still waited almost an hour to order/receive our order. We got our tortas at 9:01. 2) There is a 3% credit card fee. While I understand the logistical reason why there is a fee, as a customer I really hate it. The price point is a bit higher than other coffee shops in the neighborhood and so a 3% fee (especially during a pandemic that has people wanting to do contactless as much as possible). 3) I hate when coffee shops have rules on the amount of ice you can get. I get it that less ice might mean a bit more coffee, but come one. We're talking about an additional ounce, at most. So yea, they don't do 'light' ice. I would recommend Pan Artesanal for their lovely pastries and their quality bread. read more

My husband waited in line on a Friday morning, and by 8 am many of their popular items were sold out! I tried the chilaquiles croissant, and let me tell you, it was SO good. The chilaquiles on top of the soft , flaky croissant was a perfect combo of tang and sweet. I washed it down with their iced horchata latte.
