My family and I are visiting Lawton this week to watch my brother graduate basic training for the army. We came to back porch because my brother was craving a really good burger since the bootcamp food is basic. Food looked decent but it made my whole family very sick. We all had nausea and the runs, bad. - talk about back porch alright, maybe that's why it's in the name. My mom ordered the Fish and Chips (didn't even get a burger) and could not stop being sick from both ends! Even during the Army ceremony. This one meal literally ruined our trip. Do NOT eat here. We knew it was this place because it was the only place we went out to eat before feeling like this. 3/4 family members are still not feeling well a day later. Food was terrible. Burgers are just frozen patties, fries are just frozen from the bag and hard and bland. It was about as cheap of ingredients as you could get and there were flies everywhere. Braums is much better compared to here. read more

This was my first time here and I had an excellent service experience. My party arrived on a Friday eve and the place was packed. Lawton has really grown over the past years and good places fill up quickly on Friday nights. We were greeted by a hostess named Sharmaine who nicely explained that they were full, but she would be happy to walk around and see if she could identify any tables that might be leaving soon. We were going to just go somewhere else, but Sharmaine sweetly insisted that she'd look around first since most nicer/cool Lawton spots would be full at that time. Sharmaine came back and told us that if we'd be willing to wait about 10 minutes, she could seat our entire party (7 ladies). While we waited, Sharmaine chatted with us and was the perfect hostess. She was actually able to seat us at a large, clean table in under 10 minutes. Right off the bat, Sharmaine had already earned this spot a Yelp star Our waitress was a young lady named Mercedes and she was equally customer centric. Our group of ladies wasn't a "fussy" bunch, but since this was our first time here, we had lots of questions which Mercedes answered expertly. We began with cocktails. I'm not a huge fan of margaritas, but Backporch could make me one. The cucumber jalapeno margarita was the perfect balance of cool & spicy. I also tasted the "perfect margarita" and must admit that it was darn near perfect, but a tad too sweet for me. Now on to the food - I strongly suggest a burger! Their menu has a large section of "Craft Burgers," and yes indeed, they are craft burgers. I got the Kraken burger with sweet potato fries. That burger was simply stupendous. I usually don't like a lot of toppings on burgers, but this one was well seasoned and balanced with flavors - spicy, salty, sweet, sour, umami.......wowzers. My only complaint was that the gigantic onion ring on my burger was not quite fried to perfection ----- yes, I'm a persnickety burger snob. LOL! The sweet potato waffle fries were the best I've ever had. They were cut thinner than usual so they crisped up beautifully. All 7 of us ladies enjoyed our food and cocktails. Mercedes checked on us regularly, and even Sharmaine (hostess) came back to ensure that we were enjoying our visit. Kudos to them for going the extra mile on customer service. The restaurant has a laid back, upscale sports bar ambiance. They offer an extensive craft beer and cocktail list, as well as weekend brunch. There are lots of TV screens around for watching sports, so it's pretty loud inside, but has a cool vibe and attracts a diverse crowd. Just passing through and wanted something local. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere is a sports bar. Not too big but not too small. The Okie Ruben is a great idea for adding jalapeños but it was too salty to finish. I really wanted to love it but it broke my heart. Based on the crowd I must of gotten that 1 in a 100 bad sandwich. If I come back this way I think I would give it another shot. read more

Not many places open after 10pm in Lawton but we were hungry after a baseball game and found the Backporch. Upon entering it looks like a bar but we were surprised by the menu options and the taste of the food. Shrimp tacos were the special and they were delicious. I've ate at Backporch plenty of time over the years! The menu is excellent and always love to here the specials of the month! I have always preferred the Gore location as the ladies always run a tight ship here and service is always great! The drinks are great and all the burgers are great! The killer queso is to die for!! The chicken strips are the best a restaurant can offer! Wishing they would bring the fried green beans as a permanent item!! I would have rated this place a 5 stars but the service was weird, the fries were cold, and one of the waitresses forgot to bring out my dipping sauce. I'm a bit of a burger snob, but I have to admit that they have a good quality burger. I had the Legend burger and subbed the Swiss and American pieces of cheese for cheddar. I hate when a burger has a lot of add-ons but the meat is bland and gets over-shadowed, this was NOT the case with this burger. The meat was well seasoned and the bacon was thick and crispy! All the elements of the burger played well together and I wouldn't hesitate to come back again. I would probably rate the burger about an 8.5 out of 10. Let's talk about the service. I was seated by a hostess. Then a server took and delivered my drink order (a water). Next my actual waitress came and took my food order. Then a FOURTH server delivered the food. I asked the fourth server for dipping sauce and I sat there and waited, and waited, and waited some more. I can't eat burgers and fries without ranch! Finally my waitress came and I ask her for my precious ranch. Then towards the end of my meal a FIFTH waitress stopped by the table to see if I needed anything. ‍ The fries were good but they were cold when they arrived to the table and after waiting for ranch they obviously only got worse. I had the waitress bring fresh fries and they were really good. I'm not sure if they were fresh cut fries, but I would definitely say they were above average, seasoned well and had good flavor overall. Great service. Delicious food. Would recommend! I came here with my family on Family Day prior to basic training graduation and what a great experience. If I was ever in the area I would know where to go. Very pleased. So happy I didn't waste my day out on mediocre food. I got the Buffalo chicken salad and it was amazing. The food is adequate for a bar type setting. The presentation could use some work as most items are served on a simple metal tray with a paper liner. The servers do their best to keep up with the orders, however, the turnover in staff leaves a lot of inexperienced personnel. Great drink selection, food tends to be a bit on the saltier side. Service is usually fast, if they have more than 10 tables seated then you can probably expect a delay. We just picked up some food to go today. I was very disappointed. My mushroom/swiss burger had NO MUSHROOMS on it! The cheese would not have filled a teaspoon if I could have scraped it together. The meat was very dry and overcooked. Even Burger King makes better-tasting burgers but at far less cost! On the other hand, my wife liked her cobb salad, so that's why I doubled the score from 1 to 2 stars. I did think it was pretty cheap of them to charge $0.27 to add a few pieces of shredded carrot to a salad that cost $13.45. read more

I went with my dear friend here to celebrate her with a birthday brunch this weekend and everything was perfect. From the variety of drink options to the awesome decor to the nice staff with kind smiles and great service to oh my goodness - the playlist. It was like they knew we were coming and put on all of our jams. The mimosa bucket was cool. I love being able to add my own juice. Took myself on a solo dinner date. My first impression was that it was very small on the inside but the hostess was very kind and greeted me as soon as I walked in. I started off with a Bloody Mary and it was delicious! Bacon, olives, celery, the works! I did not order an appetizer but there was an impressive amount of soft pretzels that were ordered at the tables around me. I order the legend burger and a side of sweet potato fries. I was a little disappointed that they only make their burgers "well-done", but the flavors they combined to create the burger it self were great. I definitely recommend getting the sweet potato fries as a replacement for your side. They were garnished with sugar and the perfect amount of crispy. This place is a must try! My biggest complaint is not being able to chose the level my burger is cooked. "Well done", is what you call a cut you left on the grill too long. read more

I love my dad, but he's very focused on get the best price on meals and not so much on the quality. I don't know why they seat a couple of 60-something's at cramped stools/tables in the noisy bar in the first place. Fewer steps for her?
