Near perfect 1/2 rack of baby backs, slaw, and green beans
    Curt H.

One of my fave rib joints in Central Indiana! As someone who has nearly perfected smoked ribs myself, I struggle with ribs at unknown places. Backroads ribs totally pass my 2 tests: - No need for extra or excessive sauce - great as presented - Falls off the bone!!! If I can eat ribs w/o my fingers and only a fork/knife they pass with flying colors. This 1/2 rack was PERFECT. Not a shred of protein left on the bones here and each was removed with fork & knife with ZERO effort. Great coleslaw and green beans as well. Indiana beers on-tap as well. Only thing I see missing are Indiana bourbons Don't pass this one by if you're anywhere near Lebanon!

In town for a couple days and this place has good reviews. The kid picked the BBQ spot. I wasn't complaining. Non-descriptive outside but what a fun vibe inside. Greeted warmly, sat promptly. Pulled pork sandwich and catfish sandwich. Omg the filet was huge. So glad I went with the sandwich. It was perfect size. One filet and side as opposed to the entree of 1 or 2 filets with 2 sides. That would have been too much. When we were done and stuffed the waitress offered to-go cups for our drinks. It's a hot evening so that was really appreciated. Circling back to before we ordered, waitress brought fresh hot biscuits with house-made apple butter. It was incredible. I thought it had strawberry in it but nope. I may see if they jar it for purchase before we leave town. Highly recommended.

This is an OK BBQ restaurant just off the interstate. The restaurant itself is huge so I don't think getting a table would ever be an issue. The BBQ had some good smoke and was fairly tender and moist

Best catfish I've eaten in a while! Friendly server and quick, but quality was still great for being so fast. Quiet atmosphere. Loved my sides of corn casserole and bacon cheese fries. Loved the decor!

3 meat combo. Turkey, brisket, pulled pork

I ordered 3 combo platter. Pulled pork, brisket, and turkey breast. Side slaw and mac and cheese. They have 3 sauces. Mustard, sweet, and bourbon. Bourbon is very different. Turkey was moist and good. Brisket was good but a little fatty. My favorite was the mac and cheese. I would rate it a 3.5 very solid BBQ. Excellent for the area.

This is the best barbecue that I've have in Indianapolis! Unbelievably delicious and I'm kicking myself for passing by this place for so long. It is not surprising that they won the County's People's Choice 2023 award for best food. Don't let the appearance of the place fool you. The parking lot is a little muddy. The building is a little unwelcoming and the dining room is a little dark. But the aroma of the barbecue is intoxicating. They have lunch specials and daily drink specials on the menu. There is a full bar. The barbecue is prepared fresh daily. I ordered the Lunch Pulled Chicken sandwich with coleslaw side on the lunch menu. The chicken was moist and tender and so good. The slaw was fantastic...creamy. It was the best slaw I've had in Indiana. There were three barbecue sauces on the table and the Bourbon burnout sauce was incredible with a hint of bourbon and a little heat and not too sweet. Wow! So good. My husband had the Lunch Southern Pulled Pork sandwich with fries. The sandwich was filled so much pork that it was falling out of the sandwich. The tender, flavorful pork was covered with creamy Cole slaw. The fries were excellent, crispy and fresh. Lunches came with complementary biscuits and apple butter. The biscuits were hot and flaky. Very good. The hostess apologized for slow service because they were a little short staffed. We did not notice anything slow. Drinks and food came out quickly. The hostess was sweet and attentive. There is a portion of the dining room for large groups. Kids eat free on Wednesday with adult purchase. They have a nice kids menu. They are located just two blocks off 65 on SR 32. I'll be back and bringing friends.

This place is a gem just right off 65 in Lebanon. They start off by giving biscuits with apple butter which was a lovely surprise! They were the perfect way to start the meal. My son and I split the lunch special of Mac and cheese with pulled pork and onion rings on top. It was $10 and was big enough for the two of us to share. Service was great and food came out super quickly. I'll definitely be adding it to our list of places to eat when in Lebanon.

We stopped here on our way driving on 65 to Chicago, and it is the perfect, accessible, and efficient stop right off the highway. By far the best item where the dry rub chicken wings to start, and unfortunately, those are not pictured here. The brisket, which came recommended sadly lacked flavor. The ribs were not money well spent. I wouldn't order them again. They seemed like they were steamed almost instead of smoked. A highlight for me was the corn pudding esque side.

5/5 this was SO good. I would eat here just for the green beans, they are so good. The brisket melts in your mouth and the portions are HUGE for a great price. Service was quick and friendly. We got our food in less than 10 minutes. The owners were there and they personally spoke with us! Super friendly. They had a live musician playing , Steve Trent, and it was great live music. Wasn't too loud but filled the space nicely.

Pulled pork plate with baked cabbage and honey coleslaw. The baked cabbage and coleslaw were delicious. The sides are made fresh in-house. The portion of pork is huge. They put 1/2 pound of pork on each plate. I took more than half home for later. The plate comes with 2 pieces of Texas toast if you want to make a sandwich. Four types of house made sauce are on each table. Habanero bourbon sauce is spicy, sweet and was my favorite of their four sauces. I normally love Carolina sauce, but their Carolina sauce tasted overly mustard to me. Parking is tight, especially on Fridays at lunch. Seating is also tight but there is room in the back and tables outside. Order at the counter and wait for your number to be called for your meal. You can also see the pit with the meat cooking. There are plenty of options though there is no true 2 meat plate. That's ok because I made it work. I went with the spare ribs meal and then took the Chuck Norris home to my wife. The ribs were tasty but they gave my jaw a workout, which I do not like. The Chuck Norris though was an impressive sandwich. It came on Texas Toast with pulled pork, brisket, fried egg, bacon, onion, and Pimento cheese. The brisket or pulled pork would be what I would go to next time. For my sides, I had beans, potato salad, and Mac and cheese. All were phenomenal but potato salad was the best! It was a mustard base whipped style. The beans were the pinto beans/ranch style with tomatoes and a vinegar taste. The mac and cheese was creamy with goldfish on top. There are 4 sauces and all were phenomenal. I wish I could take all of them home!. You have the tomato bases in a mild, zesty flavor and a spicy, habanero flavor. There is also Carolina Mustard and Bama white. I think I loved the mild the most. There is fresh-brewed sweet tea which is hard to come by in Indiana but this Bama Boy would love it to be more sweeter. It was a step above water. The Chuck Norris, sauces, and sides make Rusty Silo easily a 4-star. If the spare ribs were easier to chew, a 5-star from this guy would have been given.

The primary issue was our service. While she was friendly, decent windows of time seemed to pass between her visits. She also did not provide us with utensils/napkins, as my wife requested them from the bar after our meals arrived, nor plates for our shared appetizer items. The food was very good, for the most part, as we continue to enjoy their Baked White Bean Hummus ($14) and the Greek Goddess Salad ($17) is excellent. I also do like their Fries ($3.50), as they are seasoned well with a nice exterior crunch, although it seemed like we had been given the bottom of the basket as a good bit of our order was crumbs. Drinks were OK. My wife wishes they offered a dry cider option, but their A&E Fleeting Youth ($7) consistently tends to be the closest to that offering. While I realize it's summer, I prefer porters and stouts that are on the sweeter side as opposed to coffee-esque. But the only option was their Into the Void, which I thought leaned into a coffee flavor, so I chose their King of Troy ($6.50), which was a decent lager. So I continue at 4 stars, in hopes our next visit will have service with a bit more awareness, fries from the top of the basket, and some of their other beer options that hit the spot in the past.
