You can order the meat only or get a dinner that includes 2 sides and your choice of bread (white, wheat, or cornbread). They provide very generous portion sizes. The rib tips are the best that I have had in Indy thus far. They are tender and the seasoning they use is delicious. You could eat them without any sauce. However, the sauce is what takes it over the top for me. They offer sweet, medium, hot, or they will mix the sauces for you. The hot has a pretty good kick as a warning if you are sensitive to spice. I recently tried the Bar B Q bun, which is essentially a pulled pork sandwich. The pork is finely shredded and the sauce is poured on top of the pork. It's almost a fork and knife sandwich, as the bottom bun gets soaked in the sauce. Their sides have definitely reduced in quality over the years. I recently tried the mac and cheese and greens. As a note, they only have greens Friday - Sunday and they often times run out on Sunday if you do not get there early. The mac and cheese was dry and had little flavor. The greens, which used to be my favorite in the city, reminded me of cooked spinach and weren't seasoned. The service remains great. With the amount of people waiting while I was there, they were friendly and efficient. I wanted to order chess pie and there were not any readily available behind the counter. They told me they had some coming out of the oven in the kitchen if I was willing to wait and they brought it over once done. It is carry-out only, so be prepared to take it elsewhere to eat. You can call ahead to place your order as well.

The staff were friendly and appropriately attentive. We tried varieties of meat plate and pulled port sandwiches - all of the BBQ was excellent. The pulled pork was flavorful and perfectly done. The brisket was a good mix of moist and lean (I asked for a mix) and also prepared perfectly. The smoked sausage had a great flavor and was not overdone. The 7 Pepper gold sauce and the 7 Pepper BBQ sauce are awesome! Both have great flavors and the perfect heat - and are made in-house. We took a few bottles to go, which says a lot! The fried apples were quite tasty - almost like a pie filling - very good. The fries are tasty - crispy outside and soft inside. They pair perfectly with the 7 Pepper BBQ sauce! The green beans - well, just bland and flavorless. The coleslaw also lacked flavor. So, making a quick change of plans meant that we stopped in at Rackz almost directly in front of the Pizzology building. In case it's not obvious, this is a BBQ joint. There's accessible parking, an appropriate curb-cut, and the entryway is a pretty easy to maneuver one-sided glass door that is level to the ground. I found the interior to be a pretty good layout. There's also outside dining that's available when the weather is appropriate. The menu is consistent with most BBQ joints. Rackz offers both dinners (two sides and drink plus meat) or sandwich combos (only one side). The price range is generally in the $10-20 range, though they also offer some family-style options that go higher. So, we're talking BBQ, pulled pork, pulled chicken, brisket, ribs, and there's even a breaded tenderloin sandwich. They also have a "veggie BBQ dinner." Don't ask me, but it's on the menu. Sides are creative ranging from sidewinder fries to potato salad, mac n' cheese, baked beans, glazed carrots (which I got the chance to try from a fellow diner - I really did like these), and a few other items. I was honestly very impressed with the menu. They also have kids meals and a couple of different Wick's Pies (the classic sugar cream and pecan). I opted for pulled chicken sandwich with sidewinder fries. As we know, I always get iced tea. I really wanted to go for the breaded tenderloin, but I had a full afternoon and that's a splurge for me.
