Backwoods Inn is a classic. The ambiance is outstanding; from the red leather booths to the sawdust on the floor. It has dim lighting, cozy bar and wonderful service. My friends and I spent a few hours there without ever feeling rushed. The food was great and the prices were beyond reasonable. My steak was cooked well and their twice baked potato is out of this world. I can't wait to come back and try their ribs!

Still enjoying our occasional visit to Blackwoods Inn. Classic Old School steak house. Mesquite grilled steak, ribs and pork chops. A variety of shell fish, broasted chicken and more. Sides include choice of potato, the stuffed potatoes are my favorite, soup or salad. Many peeps order the clam chowder but I always get the salad as it is crisp, fresh and the best ranch or blue cheese dressing. Leslie was our excellent server tonight. I didn't catch her assistant's name but he was awesome as well. We ordered two prime rib dinners and added on the fried shrimp and asked her to serve the shrimp as our appetizer. The add on fried shrimp plate comes with three large butterflied shrimp lightly battered and crisp. Don't forget to say hi to the grill masters when you first walk in the door. Even though they are hard at work, they always look up to greet customers as they walk in. Backwoods is a dinner only restaurant opens at 4, closed on Tuesdays. They take reservations for parties of 8 or more. Great place for Christmas Eve, New Year's Eve or any special occasion. Oh and the bartenders are great, I especially enjoy their dirty martinis!

The Backwoods Inn really feels like the kind of place you go when you want to cozy up in a booth and enjoy an incredible steak dinner. The atmosphere is warm, inviting, and wonderfully old-school... something that's becoming harder and harder to find these days. It has such a unique charm and is absolutely worth experiencing for yourself. Our server, Sandy, was beyond amazing. She was kind, attentive, gave fantastic recommendations, and truly made the entire experience even better. My filet, lobster, and twice-baked potato were absolutely out of this world!!!Honestly, I would come back for that potato alone. Overall, my experience here was incredible. I would absolutely recommend checking this place out for yourself, and I will definitely be returning in the future.

Met my sister and my Mom here yesterday for a early Mother's Day our waitress was great and the Steak & Lobster with a double baked potato was Fire a must try Steak house ..

Service was awesome! Our waitress was amazing! - except one busboy who brought water to the table (way too much cologne on) literally grossed me out! Too strong to be worn as a server or busboy. This was my first visit- my brother raved about the homemade salad dressing- it was ok! Not the greatest! I ordered grilled chicken and it was dry - the sauces on the side were teriyaki (too watery and too salty) and the bbq sauce tasted like Hines 57. Nothing special! I was very disappointed because my brother raved about this place. Restaurant itself was loud- there's sawdust on the floor- oh and we ordered cheese bread as appetizers I should've taken a pic! It was just a thick piece of bread with a slice of cheese melted on top- I'm not pressed to return- I can think of better bbq - steak houses.

Backwoods Inn is a total time capsule. Love the old-school steakhouse vibe and the sawdust floors. We started with the onion rings and coconut shrimp, both were solid. For the mains, we ordered three steaks, all requested medium. Two were cooked to absolute perfection, but unfortunately, the third came out well-done. Don't skip the twice-baked potato--it's a classic for a reason. It's a bit pricey and the steak temps weren't consistent, but the food was good and the nostalgic atmosphere make it a Santa Clarita staple.

    Twice Baked

Great old school restauraunt. You really ought to make a reservation as they get quite busy, and you'll have a wait in any case, but worth it. Twice baked potato a must, good steaks. Nice people

The Bronco Burrito was soooo delicious that I had to have it two days in a row. Let me explain the flavor experience. When you bite the burrito you taste the crunchy buttery eggs and tots, then the flavor mixes with the sharpness of the cheese, and the savory of the bacon bits incorporates, then, the magic happens. The pickled jalapeño gives an acidic edge that rips right through the other flavors and contrasts and blends stupendously. That really is the magic, which finishes with a sweet creamy after note from the avocado and sauce. Truly a wonderful addition to my Breakfast Burrito Hall of Fame. Lovely spot for drinks and dinner in Santa Clarita…read more I was in the area running errands and decided to grab dinner nearby on a Thusday evening around 6:30 pm. I found this place on Yelp and dropped by for dinner. My party of 2 was seated immediately. Personally I thought the menus were hard to read. The gray lines in the background were quite dark and clashed with the actual menu items. My suggestion to the restaurant would be to reprint the menus with lighter background. They have an extensive cocktail menu with a lot of gin-based drinks. They also have good selection of wine and NA drinks as well, including some mocktails. I got the I'm Driving mocktail ($13), which I really liked. It had good passion fruit flavor without being too sour. Felt like a really nice tropical juice. My friend really liked his drink Bramblin' Man ($17), which had strong notes of bourbon and blackberry. I wasn't super hungry, but the braised short rib looked amazing so I got that for $43. It was very tender, but I personally found it bland especially on the inside. I asked for additional sauce so I could drench each bite in the sauce. My favorite part of the plate was surprisingly the potato croquette, which was perfectly crispy and well flavored. My friend got the chicken club ($23), which he enjoyed. I stole a bunch of his seasoned fries since they were so good. I would've loved to get dessert but was too stuffed. Next time!

I got sticker shock just looking at the menu. Over $20 for a regular wedge salad. The kicker though was the cleanliness of the place. First there was black mold growing in the drink menu. My plate came out dirty with a chip on the dish-ware. The bbq bottles were sticky and congealed. Just think, if this the cleanliness of the dining room, imagine what the kitchen looks like. It's been here for about that long, too, so I am sorry I missed it in the past. This is a family-run place and I am pretty certain the woman who greeted us at the door is one of the owners. We had a reservation and were able to sit at a comfortable booth, as we were a group. The entire time we were there, I was looking around at all the vintage details they have placed in every inch of this place to give you the feeling that you are in a '50s roadside diner. The menu reflects that too. As someone who grew up on the East Coast where diners were on every corner, I appreciated this quick trip down memory lane. The service was very good. We came at an in-between time deliberately because Rte. 66 fills up at the most popular times. When we arrived, entertainment was just wrapping up and it seems they have a variety of talents on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays -- a nice perk. There is a huge parking lot so that's easy. You can sit outside or in, but in is the place to be in my opinion. Our server, Steven, was very helpful. In fact, he apologized that the floor was not spotless because a large group had literally just left and (I am assuming), a bunch of kids made quite a mess (hey parents, where were you?). They tried to tidy up without disturbing us. Everyone working there is super friendly as befits this place. The menu is vast and the food is good. It is very credible diner fare. I cannot remember the music but I think it was on -- we were too busy eating and talking to notice. The tab was very reasonable too. I would not change a thing. This is a genre spot and a very good one. Worth the trip, folks. I am sure we will be back.
