The meatballs were bland and even had bits of fat throughout them. The bread knots were undercooked and doughy. I had a very disappointing experience with this establishment. To begin with, the pizza was overpriced and, in my opinion, mid at best. The quality simply did not justify the price, and it was already a topic of discussion at the table before the billing issue arose. What was far more concerning, however, was discovering that the tip amount on my credit card transaction had been increased by more than $10 after the charge was authorized. When I questioned the charge, the merchant acknowledged that the tip amount had been changed. Regardless of the reason, customers should be able to trust that the amount they authorize including the tip, is the amount that appears on their credit card statement. The difficulty I encountered in trying to resolve the issue only added to my frustration. Based on my experience, I would recommend carefully reviewing both your receipt and your credit card statement after visiting. read more

Third time at Society Pizza Lounge and it's grown on me for the quality of the food and drink. Every cocktail I've had here, albeit quite pricey, has been delicious. This time around it was the Society Toasted Rum Cocktail. They really know what they're doing n terms of creating delicious cocktails that are well mixed and balanced. We also got "Mark's Pie" - I mentioned in my original review that the NYC slices they were serving were pretty good but not my favorite in town, but the true star in their pizza game are these unique pie creations. Mark's Pie was a vegetarian feast, quite hearty and with all kinds of unique flavors in it that my wife and I loved. I've been here once before for drinks shortly after they opened, so I didn't feel it was fair to leave a review without trying the pizza. Last night (Saturday), my wife and I came back for date night. We had already eaten and planned to just grab drinks... but the smell of the pizza changed our plans. We're self-proclaimed pizza connoisseurs. I take my pizza seriously -- at home I work on perfecting my dough and sauce to make both true New York-style and Buenos Aires-style pies. My barber had also been telling me for a while that this place is legit. He even met the owner and said he's incredibly passionate about every detail that goes into making a great pizza. After finally trying it, I get it. We ordered a plain cheese with basil, and it was outstanding. A true New York-style pie. The dough had the perfect texture, the underside had that beautiful leopard spotting, the sauce-to-cheese ratio was dialed in, and the cheese was clearly high quality. We finished the whole thing without hesitation. The vibe is super cool. My wife kept saying she couldn't believe we were still in Santa Clarita -- it felt more like being over the hill in WeHo. Service was great too. Our waitress, Amber, was friendly and attentive. And to those complaining about the no-modifications rule -- trust the process. Nevertheless tried the following two pies: Vodka margherita: 6.5/10 - there's nothing margherita about it. Literally vodka pizza with basil. Flavor was there. No tomatoes. No mozz. Crust was good. Undercarriage on the first bite was awful. Everything slides off. The spicy salamino: 5/10. Every topping slides right off when you bite and the roof of my mouth is still burnt from how hot the pie was. Ambiance: not sure what they're trying to present. A lounge, a sports bar? A parlor? Service: very friendly and great. No notes here. Probably won't come back. Giving them the benefit of the doubt as they just opened, but needs a lot of work. read more

Standard seating in the back. Went during casual hours and it was busy but not overrun. I'm not sure how it would be like during the later evenings. But it's nice to have something open later than 9 p.m Pizza, got the NY cheese + pepperoni. Delicious, of the nearby surrounding Santa Clarita they have my favorite tasting pepperoni. I didn't know we needed reservations so we went down the street for a cocktail and came back in an hour. We ordered cool cocktails and 2 pizzas. Everything was delicious as expected. We did ask for honey but was told no which was surprising since they serve it on another pizza. Reading the 1 star comments here on Yelp were funny because it's always the ones who want to modify dishes when the menu clearly states they do not. Honest Review of Society Pizza My wife and I have visited a couple of times and, as East Coast transplants, we've found it challenging to find pizza we're accustomed to. The place is a new spot, and you can see they're always adding new things. The drinks are fantastic--the Old Fashioned and Blackberry Margarita are standouts. My wife really enjoyed the bubbly drink, and it's definitely something you have to try for yourself. The staff is another highlight; they're friendly, energetic, and great at interacting with customers. While we haven't been there for a jazz night yet, the DJ was great. I've seen some complaints about a lack of customization, and while I understand wanting what you want, I also appreciate a chef's vision. It's clear they hand-pick ingredients, as seen when the eggplant wasn't available on our second visit. I'd much rather have a great meal with fresh ingredients than a subpar one with everything on the menu. This is a select menu, and it's worth giving them time to grow. Gosh, I really wanted to like this place. And honestly, the food is pretty good. Why I only gave it one star? Because the service is horrific and the drinks are overpriced. Our less than qualified server spent more time chatting with the customers than paying attention to our table and realizing that she had forgotten to bring one of our guests drinks, for like 15 minutes. When she brought my drink to me, she spilled it all over my leg. She knew what she had done and did not apologize. Instead, she just handed me an extra napkin. We had a party of six and we spent almost $500. It was a surprise to us when our server presented our bill and she had added an automatic 20% gratuity. Apparently they consider parties of six to be "large parties" and the gratuity is automatically added. No wonder why she didn't step up on the service, she was going to get paid no matter what! Then, when we gave her our credit cards (three couples split) she told us that "Management does not allow us to split checks three ways." Huh??? We dine out quite often in this community, and we have never run into an issue like that. A couple other things that I'd like to note, 1. Two unisex restrooms for a large busy bar is not enough. There was a line pretty much most of the evening. 2. Bus the tables throughout the meal. Letting dishes and glasses pile up in between courses is not professional. 3. Let your customers modify the pizzas if they want to. We were told by the server that we were not allowed to change not one thing on any of the pizzas other than the cheese pizza. I think that's a little unreasonable. 4. For goodness sakes, bring in some linen napkins! If you want to present yourself as a classy place, and charge the prices that you are charging, you cannot use paper napkins. It's a turn off. At the end, all six of us have agreed that we will not go back. Just goes to show that it's not always about the food! read more

Would like to see a selection of wine offered by the glass. To start we ordered the meatball martini and eggplant royal. The former was enough to share with our table of 4 and quite scrumptious. The eggplant had too much breading, not enough veggie and overcooked. The ricotta and spinach pie was excellent. For desert, we had tiramisu in a coffee cup and a cannoli. The tiramisu was divine, but the filling in the cannoli, not so much. Enjoyed the excellent live jazz and lively atmosphere. Service was good, but the food all came at once and there was a heavy push on the cocktails. Important to keep the big screens fresh and not constant repeat to make things interesting in the future.
