    Our table.

We dined at Newhall Refinery after church on Christmas Eve. This was our first visit, and we were pleasantly surprised at how well it all went, especially on an evening before a holiday when many places were closed. The food was well prepared overall. The highlight was the French Dip -- my husband found it all quite delicious. Our daughter thoroughly enjoyed the Short Rib Ragu. My Pesto Pasta with Shrimp was very good -- I would have preferred a harder sear on the shrimp. Tammy was our wonderful server who took great care of us. Their Brunch Menu looks really good -- we may try that for our next visit!

I was really excited to check this place out with the awesome reviews I read. Although the space is cute, I went for lunch during the week and found it to be overrated. Food was ok I guess but certainly not for the price. Whoever said their short rib is amazing, I must disagree as I found out to have no flavor at all. As for service, as I mentioned, I went during the week for lunch and although there was only one table inside and just me outside, the server came by once and I had to go inside just to pay the bill.

I was in the SCV and wanted a fun outing with my girl. Old town Newhall is bustling with new energy and seems to be on its way back as the door to go. The atmosphere was casual with many patrons appearing to be on date night. The wine list was mostly from central coast and had some lovely choices. My girl had the steak frites and I had the name asked chopped salad with chicken. We both greatly enjoyed the music, conversation and our food choices. We ended with a special dessert of donuts and coffee ice cream and hot fudge.. just fantastic!!! If you're near by drop in for a drink, food or just say hi to the staff. The neighboring table liked what we were having and we had a lovely discourse about our dessert! Fun people watching too!

Yelp never fails. Worth the drive off the 5 freeway! We came in for lunch on a weekday and will be back. My husband and I were happy with our meals especially when they came exactly as ordered plus or minus items. Our waitress made sure it came as ordered as well. The service was quick and the food was bountiful. We expected to take food home but pretty much cleaned our plates with how well it tasted. Don't let the drive off the freeway defer you if you are in the area. It's worth the couple minute detour - I promise.

Out of towners here. We were invited by family for breakfast. Plenty of seating. Our server was nice and attentive with coffee and water refills. One flaw, all meals came out except for one. BLT breakfast sandwich. It was never put in, servers mistake. When it finally came to table it was not tasty. The eggs seemed rushed and tasted burnt/overcooked. Moco Loco was good, could've used a bit more gravy because the beef patty was dry. Brussels sprouts were outstanding! French toast was scrumptious. Bloody Mary's and Maria's were good.

Parking is available in the back but note it's tight especially for Big vehicles. Back entrance isn't as glamorous but at least we know where the restroom is. We got seated quickly since we got to the restaurant around 11:30am and ordered items off the menu. Did take awhile for items to be ordered and then was told they were out of French dip and short ribs. Well most of the folks ordered the burger instead. I had the melt and salad. We had the pretzels and I find it way salty than I expected. Came back home with a slight headache. The place is decked out like one of those speakeasy hole in a wall feel. Though I think they need more lighting to make it a bit lively. Overall the melt is delicious. Would prolly come back when the other items are available

I've had this on my list to try for a while now and didn't plan on coming by last night but we did! My bf and our friends were basically doing a bar hopping night and this was our last stop. Came by maybe an hour or an hour and a half before they closed and only planned on getting drinks but the pretzel was calling to us lol! Love a good pretzel, especially if salted well and with good dips! I really enjoyed the honey mustard and especially the Dijon! The Dijon had quite the kick but it was absolutely perfect with the pretzel and nice with the side of pickles. The boys enjoyed their drinks, I only got an iced water but we had a nice end of the night, chatting and good small bites. It was busy and there was also a large party next to our table. Although there was no host when we walked in, I managed to flag someone down eventually and we got seated pretty quickly. Service was also quick and great! Definitely looking forward to coming back and trying their actual food. I was eyeing that smash burger! IG: @ammysalamii

Not to be dramatic, but this might be one of the best smash burgers I've had in my lifetime. This was incredible. Service was great. Came in for a work lunch and couldn't be a better setting for it. Love the vibe of this place. Stop on in!

Cool ambiance. Great staff. Small menu (in the best way...they do what they do, WELL). Just came for drafts and snacks. Bavarian pretzel, Refiner's Fries, charcuterie board, all A+. Happy hour prices are also good .

    Michelle G.

Wow. When I am not looking for the perfect chocolate chip cookie I am in search of fantastic beer. Well I found a spot! Gen x music (love it) good beer options and the food. Fries are supreme. My charcuterie board was mid the burger could have used salt. Laid back and more beer increased the stars . Come and hang out.

The food was pretty good overall; prices a little steep for burgers though. Quick service and seating for a Friday afternoon.

Everything was cooked too perfection, extremely flavorful and it came out very fast. Amazing service. After dinner, we stayed because the DJ was playing absolute bangers!!!!! The bar staff all were so kind and friendly. I never felt more welcome from staff like that before. They have this super cool menu of cocktails that are inspired by the pool balls numbers! I was able to tried them all, and the number 5 ball Whiskey Sour is my personal favorite! A close second is their Break, Run, Repeat cocktail! Definitely give those a try. We got to play both pool and darts. Their tables are in such nice condition, well taking care of and they are all diamond tables. The break room gave me a amazing night out with my friends. I never been to a place like this before. I can't think of one negative thing to say, my visit here was pure fun. Lovely spot for drinks and dinner in Santa Clarita…read more I was in the area running errands and decided to grab dinner nearby on a Thusday evening around 6:30 pm. I found this place on Yelp and dropped by for dinner. My party of 2 was seated immediately. Personally I thought the menus were hard to read. The gray lines in the background were quite dark and clashed with the actual menu items. My suggestion to the restaurant would be to reprint the menus with lighter background. They have an extensive cocktail menu with a lot of gin-based drinks. They also have good selection of wine and NA drinks as well, including some mocktails. I got the I'm Driving mocktail ($13), which I really liked. It had good passion fruit flavor without being too sour. Felt like a really nice tropical juice. My friend really liked his drink Bramblin' Man ($17), which had strong notes of bourbon and blackberry. I wasn't super hungry, but the braised short rib looked amazing so I got that for $43. It was very tender, but I personally found it bland especially on the inside. I asked for additional sauce so I could drench each bite in the sauce. My favorite part of the plate was surprisingly the potato croquette, which was perfectly crispy and well flavored. My friend got the chicken club ($23), which he enjoyed. I stole a bunch of his seasoned fries since they were so good. I would've loved to get dessert but was too stuffed. Next time!

The quality simply did not justify the price, and it was already a topic of discussion at the table before the billing issue arose. What was far more concerning, however, was discovering that the tip amount on my credit card transaction had been increased by more than $10 after the charge was authorized. When I questioned the charge, the merchant acknowledged that the tip amount had been changed. Regardless of the reason, customers should be able to trust that the amount they authorize including the tip, is the amount that appears on their credit card statement. The difficulty I encountered in trying to resolve the issue only added to my frustration. Based on my experience, I would recommend carefully reviewing both your receipt and your credit card statement after visiting.

We are rarely in the area, but since we had some errands to take care of that led us to be in the nearby, and we didn't know what to eat, then my wife said how about some fish and chips from a different place, then it hit me that I had this place bookmarked and saved for some time now, and now was the perfect time. We came there and parked in the public parking building that was free. We came inside and there was a party of two in front of us waiting. The waiter, seemed to be the only one, came by and said hi to everyone and his thanks for our patience and wait. He later came by and took them to their seats. They requested outside, and the took them. We waited a few more minutes, then it was our turn and he was ready to lead us to our seats, but we asked for outside as well. He asked us to give him a few minutes to clean up a table for us. After so, he sat us and gave us menus. The service is good, considering he is the only one, but he moves about pretty quickly and still giving everyone his all. The table was pretty nasty. It was sticky. But we wiped it down and proceeded onto our night. We ended up ordering the two piece fish and chips and their pub burger with no cheese as my wife is lactose intolerant. People really need to realize that smoking is smoking, it does not mean that vaping is ok. Respect others by keep that to yourself, especially in a restaurant. The food came out pretty fast, and very hot and fresh. One of the fish was perfect and crispy, the second pieces was lacking. It was soggy and not fried long enough. The fish itself was great. It had a nice texture, firmness, and lightly salted. The batter was bland and could use some salt. However, eating it with the tartar sauce was amazing. The tartar sauce is perfection. Definitely a good fish and chips combo when consuming with the tartar. The steak fries were perfect. The burger was completely lacking. I thought it should be sent back. The idea was ok, but the execution was wrong. The burger was overcooked, way too overcooked. If it was cooked correctly, it would have been a great burger. The onion rings are great though. Great flavor, great batter, good frying. Overall, the waiter made the experience good because he was on top of it. The food was ok, as there are things that would make it better. My plate came out dirty with a chip on the dish-ware. The bbq bottles were sticky and congealed. Just think, if this the cleanliness of the dining room, imagine what the kitchen looks like. I have worked in the restaurant business before and this is just intolerable. Two stars for a good atmosphere (live music). But that's it. If you want great bbq, try Copper Hill BBQ. It's doesn't have the atmosphere of Smoke House but you get great BBQ and a clean environment.
