I honestly was disappointed in this restaurant. There is always a wait here and I was excited to have an opportunity to try out the restaurant. I would say not to waste your time on this establishment. The staff was friendly but the food wasn't anything special. I ordered an omelette with mushrooms, onion, ham and pepper jack cheese. I hate writing this but the experience we had here today was simply bizarre. The host put my name down and said 10-15 minutes, and waited for 20 before we went in to inquire. They skipped our party and seated others who arrived after us instead. My friend put down her name instead, and it was 10 minutes still before we sat. We also attempted many times to get the host's attention when asking what was going on, standing directly in front of her, and she talked to other people instead of us. Once we finally sat, our waitress did not come to get our drink orders for 20 minutes. It had been quite a while at this point, so we knew what we'd like to eat and proceeded ordered drinks and food together. 10-15 minutes later, our drinks came to the table. I was quite confused at this point, as my drink looked nothing like a French 75. My friend also pointed out it was in a cracked pint glass. We waited a few minutes until we had to get up and ask her to come back to the table. We waited a while still and then she came over. I pointed out that my drink was incorrect to the waitress, who stated "no, it isn't". I was pretty taken aback and mentioned that usually a French 75 is served up and certainly without ice. Further, the drink description on their menu has lavender as their house addition, and I tasted no lavender. She insisted I was "thinking of another drink" and insisted the bartender would not remake it, as he has been "working there for 20 years so he knows how to make the drinks". Still confused and shocked, I told her it doesn't even taste like one and there is a grapefruit garnish; the description has no mention of grapefruit. She repeated that I was incorrect and: 1. Thinking of some other drink, 2. There isn't grapefruit in the drink 3. They didn't even have grapefruit juice today, 4. It's just a garnish, 5. Offered to take the garnish off herself. Finally, I pointed out the glass was cracked and visibly leaking, and only then did she offer to take it away. When asking me if I wanted another drink, I asked for the elderflower mimosa. The menu lists the flavors of mimosa offered are orange, grapefruit, and elderflower. I chose elderflower. She then explained that it is an elderflower liqueur (which I was aware of) but it used grapefruit juice and again they don't have any. I am, again, perplexed as to why there are three options of flavors and evidently, the elderflower one has grapefruit juice. She then tells me I should choose something else. If there needs to be juice, why not orange? She said she would ask, but never confirmed back with me if he would do it. My new drink came with my food given by a different server. *Note, I can't have grapefruit anything due to a medication interaction. Why are there drinks on the menu that have descriptions that don't specify where there is added grapefruit juice? **The drink I received looked just like the picture another user posted of The Morning Paper drink on their menu which does have grapefruit juice. My friend who had an issue with her drink was met with the same defense. Her green bloody mary wasn't viscous like a bloody mary usually is,like more watery. The waitress said, "well, all our drinks come with two shots in them so it's definitely not watered down." It was simply bizarre. After another back and forth, finally she took our drinks back. She did not return to our table until after the food was served. She did not ask how our food was until we were finished and reached to take our plates. Ultimately, the problem lies in the following: 1. We were there at least an hour longer than necessary. 2. The staff did not seem to want to interact with us and avoided us. 3. I could have had a medication interaction and when voicing concerns was immediately told I was wrong. 4. While the food was tasty, save for my friend's cold eggs, it wasn't exceptional and worth all of the above problems. I and my friends have worked as servers in the service industry. We were profusely apologizing for bringing stuff up because we know it was busy and this stuff wasn't her fault. Was just in town all last week and I ate here every single day. The food was so incredible and the staff was awesome. There was a gal working named Michelle that made us want to keep coming back. She was so hilarious and went out of her way to give us a great experience. The food was phenomenal. I tried something different each time and was never disappointed. The last day we went there for breakfast, Michelle sent me and my friends a glass of champagne, it was a gesture like that that just made us all so happy. I really wanted to give this place better than just an "OK" rating, but the food was really just OK, especially when there is a lot of competition for breakfast bucks in this town. I've been here three times, about a year separating each of the visits and all visits at approximately the same time of year. Between the last two visits, they moved into a new place. The old place was quaint, but this place is closer to downtown with a lot more space. On this visit, we arrived just as it was opening (at 8 a.m. on a Saturday) and were seated near the thermostat, which read 63 degrees (inside). The hostess did not ask if we had a preference for where we sat (table or booth). She was just doing the best she could, seating several people who arrived at the same time. This is the second time that I've had the bacon and eggs (scrambled) with wheat toast. The bacon had great flavor, as it did last time, but the eggs were really just boring (again) with no distinct flavor (even when I tried pepper on them), and the hash browns were just plain old hash browns. Just not a fan. You'd think that I'd learn to order something else, but since this is their signature dish, I was willing to give it one more chance. The coffee was great, service was wonderful, but the French Toast was very small compared to other restaurants we've been to. On the other hand, the biscuit and gravy was huge...but really disappointing compared to other experiences we've had.. not good flavors. The eggs, Bacon, and toast was great. The hash browns good. BOOM! If you don't leave here in a food coma I'm not sure what's wrong with you cuz this place is legit. We asked a few locals where the best breakfast place is and this was it, and I couldn't agree more! Luckily we came at the right time because shortly after it was really busy. We also decided to be fat kids and get the biscuits and gravy to share..... holy !!! It was the best biscuits and gravy dish I've had at a restaurant BY FAR!! I highly recommend giving this one a try cuz it's dang good. The biscuits were crispy on the outside but still soft and fluffy on the inside, the gravy was a no joke sausage gravy that wasn't some crap out a can. The bloody mary mix is made from scratch and has a nice horseradish kick. Hash browns were a nice mix of crispy outer and tender inside. My husband and I both had eggs Benedict, and my favorite part was the English muffin was crispy not soggy like it can often be. The eggs were perfectly poached. The kids loved their French toast but one ordered blueberries on top and didn't eat them because they were squishy. Look, the establishment can flag my review and have it removed by Yelp. Today I ordered the Crab Cake Benedict, let me start by saying the Crab cake was very well made. It wasn't overly filler, I could taste the crab. The eggs were cooked perfect. My major issue was the amount of hash browns that came with the meal. It was maybe an ounce and a half of potatoes on my plate. I also ordered the $4 "cheesy" grits, for that price I got the smallest helping of grits that had an obnoxious amount of butter served on top of them. Why would you need to put that much butter on grits, what's wrong with putting it on the side for the patron to determine how much they want? Also, I tasted ZERO cheese in these grits. If you'd like me to teach you how to make grits let me know, I'd be happy to. When someone orders a scramble and is asked if they'd like to substitute fresh fruit for their toast, is it not customary to let them know what the cost of that fruit will be? The charge did not match the amount or quality of the fruit. I'm sure if this place had a better system they'd be top notch. However, the wait time to get a simple cup of coffee and watching 3-4 tables that were sat and ordered after us get their food was ridiculous. Food shouldn't come to the table like warm. read more

Went there for brunch on a Saturday morning. The food (eggs benedict for me, crabcakes egg benedict for a friend) was absolutely stellar. Perfectly cooked, perfect portions, so tasty. The cocktails were strong and yummy! The only bummer was the wait--we had reservations for an outside table for 10am, showed up right on time, and stood waiting with the walk-up crowd for close to an hour while we STARED at two open, clean, and already-set spots outdoors the entire time. I totally understand when things get busy and if customers are eating slow and pushing reservations back, but the spots stayed empty the whole time until we were seated, an hour later, in that spot. read more

For $1.50 not much to lose. My apologies to my Vegan friends, but I added chorizo to this dish. I'm firmly in the camp that treats breakfast meat as one of the 4 essential food groups. Tried the lowfat approach but got tired of being hungry an hour before lunch. With breakfast meat, I don't get hungry again until dinner. Like some of the other reviewers, and unlike the kimchi, the Migas just didn't seem to have as much flavor as I expected. The hash browns it was served with came with a side of ketchup and they were pretty good, But next time I would probably ask for salsa with this dish or maybe try something else.
