This place was the best food on our recent road trip. First it is off the beaten path. Definitely a locals gathering spot. All the ladies in there are SUPER friendly and have amazing personalities Based on other reviews I read, we ordered the fried pepper cheese appetizer- it did not disappoint. So yummy!! We ordered a bacon cheeseburger with seasoned fries and a catfish platter with baked beans and fried potatoes. Came with hush puppies. SO much food came out lol. Everything was cooked perfectly and very flavorful. Even though we were too full to finish our meals we ordered a piece of Peanut Butter Crumble pie- it was delicious!! Definitely worth the detour off the freeway for an amazing meal!! And our interactions with the staff made it extra memorable-Thanks Ladies!! read more

Stopped in for breakfast on our way out of town after a weekend a the cave. Everyone was so welcoming and friendly, the other patrons and the staff! Got the breakfast plate with bacon eggs and biscuits and gravy. The eggs were perfectly cooked over medium and everything was great! The coffee was delicious and they kept it refilled and hot. If you want something more than hamburger and fries (or even if you want a hamburger and fries), Bacon Creek is the place to go. Several vegetables, main course and desserts to choose from. It costs less than most "fast food" places. I love to eat there for breakfast. The service is great, the food is good and the waitresses are fun to talk and joke with. Looks like a small place from the outside. Seats plenty more. Seat yourself. Beware, they allow smoking on both sides of the restaurant which I personally despise but it does not stop me from enjoying my meal. I guess they still allow it bc of the all of the elderly/rednecks in the area (no offense). Let's get down to the good stuff ... all appetizers are $4.99 (cheapest of any place I've been to in awhile). Options include fried pickles, fried cheese cubes (our personal favs), corn nuggets (another good choice), mozzarella sticks and more. Main courses ... they have a daily special menu that changes weekly. That includes a main dish, 2 sides and choice of bread for $9.25. Breakfast is served all day. Fish specials every Friday. we have tried several items off of the menu and have yet to be disappointed. You do get a discount for paying cash which is an extra bonus. Their desserts are made in house daily which are $5.25. Also, the cheapest dessert I've seen in a long time. We actually ordered coconut cream pie and chocolate meringue pie today and both were still warm from them being baked earlier. Rhonda is probably their longest running waitress. She's a hoot. She treats us like family every single time and she doesn't even know us. The bathrooms are always clean as well as the entire restaurant. They offer a lot of soda options as well (Coke products). I would totally give this place 5 stars if it was smoke free! The only complaint I have is the smoking. read more

Great food. It's always good but check your order before you leave they usually leave something out. We order from there about once a week when we get home they have always left something outt, usually it's forgetting the bread or leaving out the drink. They ask for tips which is fine I don't mind tipping as long as they start getting our order correct. We have learned to check the boxes before pulling off. read more

This place must be in some kind of time vortex. They allow smoking anywhere inside the restaurant! That may be off-putting to some, but I found it charmingly nostalgic. SThe food is incredible home cooking quality, and the prices are so low, you'll really feel like you stepped back 15 years in time. I'm talking double bacon cheeseburger and fries for $6.95, country fried steak with two sides for $9! One of the best mom and pop restaurants I have been to in ages. They have daily specials to die for. Each meal will fill your belly and the pies are a must if one piece isn't enough they will let you order a whole pie for pickup for that special occasion. This place is definitely an experience. A small-town hang out for locals, the atmosphere felt like a family reunion with conversations crossing from table to table. We had a lot of questions like "What's the difference between city ham and country ham?" and "Do you have wheat bread?" My dad decided on the country fried steak, and I selected the Chuckwagon which is like a ground beef schnitzel with an overarching carney flavor. The food service was quick and polite. The food itself was average, although the country fried steak was on par with the average greasy spoon of the South. Expect southern home cooking: chopped sirloin, cod fish, grilled chicken, and spaghetti were the specials of the day. If you decide on dessert, choose one of the homemade cakes made by a local woman bought by the restaurant. Overall, home style food here is equivalent to food you could easily make at home. Not a bad place to eat... cheap, hot and fast. Found it with Yelp's help on the way to Mammoth Cave National Park from Louisville. The smoking inside the place is a little bothersome, but as a native Floridian not used to that sort of thing, it adds to the down home country feel of the place. read more
