the meat was very very good. 1/4 chicken and beef briske. however ALL of the sides were borderline inedible. the cornbread was dry and bland but extremely soggy on the bottom. the tortillas were gross and I couldn't even take a bit (honestly I've never had tortillas with barbecue so I'm not even sure why they were included). Best BBQ we've ever had. And we are both plus-sized BBQ eating aficionados. We ordered a family style BBQ platter for 6 adults. And we had tons left over. Every meat was incredible. We ordered catering for our daughter's baptism (it was produced and delivered from this location) and everything was great. We asked for delivery at 3:30pm, the person arrived around 3:15 and everything was hot and fresh. Brisket is awesome, decent chicken. Beans, salad and cornbread were all great. I went here today for lunch, since they were doing the 50% off promotion (Tuesdays only). The promotion covers everything except steak and salmon, and the rule is that each person has to buy a not alcoholic or an alcoholic drink. I used to go to the Shelby Township location every few months or so, but I haven't been for a while, and we wanted to try this location. We started off with two Cokes, as well as the pig candy, which is always delicious (but pricey, at $8.50 for five slices of bacon). I ordered a pulled pork sandwich and chose the sweet-and-sour cucumbers and the mashed sweet potatoes for my sides. For lunch, you can order either one side and one meat, two sides and one meat, or two meats, I believe. My boyfriend got the brisket sandwich and french fries and pit beans. I tried some of the french fries and they were very good. Our meal would have been about $36 but instead was $18 with the discount, awesome deal! I can't decide if I like this location or the Shelby one better but this location is a little bit closer to me. They do have a sign up that says during the winter it's only open Monday through Wednesdays, which I thought was weird, but its good info to know if you were planning on going one of the other days. We went up to my buddies caban in West Branch. We were on our way back home, and my buddy suggested this place a group of us were in 3 separate cars. I was texting with my friend Rachel, and she told me she had been and how fantastic the campfire nachos are. I ordered the pulled pork and cornbread and baked beans. My buddy ordered a pizza. The restaurants COVID measures are great. Park, text to get on the waitlist and they will text you when to come in. We had a group of 3 and waited for about 40 min. Parties were adequately seated away from others. We ordered the BBQ trio for our appetizer. The smoked wings were delicious-best thing we had. The bacon flavor was great, but it was super tacky and gets stuck in your teeth. The ribs by themselves didn't really have that smoky BBQ taste, but the sauces made it better. For our entree, we ordered the tacos with chicken and brisket. We also got a side of Mac and cheese and bbq chowder. It was our least favorite. The meat was cold and bland. The toppings and sauces were the saving grace to make the tacos edible. Macaroni wasn't bad, but it wasn't anything to write home about. The bbq chowder had ONE piece of meat in it and it practically tasted like an unsalted baked potato. Overall the service was great and the bathrooms were clean. The brisket was decent - I was hoping for a more smoked flavor. The pork sausage was pretty good. It has a smoky, spicy taste to it almost taste like chorizo. And the pulled pork was just as good. Sides were served in a generous amount. We liked all of them, but the cornbread was our least favorite. It was almost like a full meal. So much flavor profile going on for a cornbread, I'd rather have it plain and simple to go along with my meat. The decor was something special! Very cool, rustic, laid back atmosphere. Totally disappointed. Food was good, service was alright until I received my lunch time bill. I ordered a lunch sandwich with a side for $8.25. I received my sandwich and chips. I called the server over and stated I thought I ordered fries as my side. When I got my bill I was charged $11.95 for the sandwich and an additional $3.25 for my fries. That's a huge difference. This was our absolutely favorite restaurant from the day they opened in Orion. We took all out of town guests there and it never failed. Last time we went, a few months ago, they doubled their prices. We get it. Covid has made everyone's job tough, but it was still the best ribs on the planet. Last night was that was not the case at all. Firstly the drinks we got could not have been made by an actual bar tender. They were horribly off. I sent my pumpkin spice White Russian back and got the blackberry mule which I've had before. It tasted nothing like what I remembered. My husband margarita was tequila and lime juice mostly. So what. We don't go there to drink. When the ribs came out by first glance we knew something was wrong. They didn't look the same. They were red. Not grey and a little charred. Red. They did not melt in our mouths like they used to. They did not fall off the bone like they used to. But the real kicker is they changed the seasoning. It was heavy on the pepper. Bad Brad's a a great go-to place for BBQ! It's good...it's not over the top fabulous, but it's a fun place to go for a hearty meat meal! The platters are a lot of good meat. The picks of sides are nice...a lot to pick from. I had the Sweet potato mash and the collard greens. Well done! The Mac and Cheese are legendary! Two people in my party had BBQ chicken. Taste was good, but it was a little dry. My one complaint is that they serve the food on an "elementary school tray" with parchment paper coating it. When you cut up your meat...the paper cuts too and I'm pretty sure I ate paper. Not gonna kill me...just not a fan. I wish I could just have a plate. Easy ordering online and easy pick up when you arrive. Call from your car and they bring it out. Every restaurant should take note! Not too mention for carry out the food is packaged perfectly and still hot when you get home. Very recently went in to dine for the first time in what seems like f o r e v e r and it was wonderful! Came in town for business and after a long workday, we were just looking for some comfort food. Bad Brad's came through in the clutch. On a busy weeknight (if it's busy on weeknights, you know there's potential), we were seated within 10 minutes. I ordered a two meat platter with brisket and pork as my meats. For the sides, I got Mac and cheese along with some cornbread. The meats were so flavorful and amazing. If I had to pick a winner, slight edge to the brisket but not by much. The Mac and cheese was so rich and incredible. There was no dripping cheese when I lifted my fork up in the air to take a bite. This is how Mac and cheese should be made. Bad Brad's is clearly above the majority of BBQ in Michigan. I'm from Kansas and this is one of my favorite BBQ places in Michigan. I stick to the smoked meats (Ribs, Sliced Brisket, Sausage, etc) so I don't know how the other menu items are, but these are great. I try not to go to much because it's close to home but it doesn't work out. Sides are great (Beans, Fries, etc). Stop in and get a 3 meat combo and find what you like and keep coming back. read more
