Tried this place while waiting for my offspring to finish rehearsals at the nearby school. Entered to an almost empty restaurant, but it was Thu on a stormy night. I appreciated the picture book menu that spelled things out. Given I'm a Taurus I had to get the Taurus roll. (They have a roll for every star sign). The Taurus was a tempura roll with all the trimmings. And a Shrimp California roll to balance things out. Had some tea - it was regular as opposed to green. And then the miso soup. The soup was standard fare. The rolls came quickly; by then I was the only guest. Both were quite good but the Shrimp California was a real surprise. You can tell when you get quality ingredients served closed to room temp and the rice itself was really great. Service throughout was quick, quiet and kind. 4.5. This maybe my new go to. It seems less expensive than our other favorite and given it's also less busy it might be the better overall choice. I just hope they get more patrons than the night I was there. read more

First time trying Orion Sushi and I left highly impressed! The atmosphere was relaxing and our service was great! Our food came out quickly and our server made sure our waters were always refilled when needed. There are a wide variety of rolls to choose from. The menu includes lots of photos of the rolls and they all looked so good that it was hard to decide which ones to pick! The two speciality rolls I chose were Snowy Night and Angel. The Snowy Night roll includes crab salad, cucumber, salmon, and avocado. It is topped with mozzarella cheese. The Angel roll has crab stick, cream cheese, avocado, cucumber, and was topped with mayo, smoked salmon, masago and crunch. The fish is so fresh, I especially enjoyed the tuna sashimi. We tried a chocolate cake for dessert and it was delicious. read more

A friend asked how we liked Orion Sushi. My text back: "Truly fantastic. Honestly can't think of how it could be any better." Honestly, that could be my review. The service was friendly. The food did not come out quickly, but it was well within expectations. We could see the two sushi chefs working diligently and count the people who arrived before us who didn't yet have plates of food. The hamachi nigiri (yellowtail on rice) was some of the best I've had - I genuinely don't recall even coastal fresh sushi (from Vancouver) being any better. The ebi (shrimp) and maguro (tuna) were also excellent. The rolls were great. Just one note to self: I really liked the ACC roll even though it's pure veggie. read more

We have visited a couple of time now. So happy this opened as there are simply not any similar options on that end of town. The sushi is fantastic and fresh. The sashimi options are a bit limited. Atmosphere is relaxed and service is always attentive. Seating is a bit limited, but that has never been an issue. If you have never been, please note there is only water and soft-drinks. I came here with my sister and her boyfriend before I headed back to my place. It's located in a strip mall that has a supermarket and a Hallmark store, so it's a great place to stop for lunch after your errands. Our waitress was very nice and brought out our food quickly. We all split the tempera shrimp and gyoza for our appetizer. Both were very good! The tempera shrimp was loaded with tempera, which made it very crunchy. The shrimp were good size. The gyoza was flavorful and had a nice crispy layer on one side. I ordered the Philadelphia sushi roll, which had smoked salmon, imitation crab meat, avocado, cucumber, and cream cheese. I also ordered the Gemini roll, which had imitation crab meat, avocado, and cucumber. On top of the rolls were either tuna, smoked salmon, or red snapper that gave the rolls a cool rainbow effect. The presentation of the rolls were beautiful! Both rolls were very good and were a good portion size. Our waitress told us that for future orders, we can substitute the rice for cucumber for a few dollars extra. To drink, I had the hot tea, which was very refreshing. For dessert, we each got the strawberry mochi ice cream. The bowl came in three ice cream balls that were cut into four pieces and topped with whipped cream and a cherry. Yum! This is by far the best sushi that I have had in Oakland County. We have struggled to find a sushi place that we liked after coming from California and Chicago. Orion Sushi is the best quality we have found and so flavorful. The same waitress is always there when we go and I believe she is one of the owners. She is so kind and always smiling. She makes it just that much better. This place has to stay, so please go here so they are around for many years! Some of our go to rolls are Butterfly, Orion*, Milky Way, Sakura*, Libra, Snowy Night, Yum Yum. Finally had a chance to try this place! I wanted to give 3.5 stars, but I can't, so Orion Sushi gets 4 stars. Sushi is pretty good. We had mackerel, eel, salmon, tuna, spicy tuna, cucumber- rolls, nigiri, sashimi. They were good. Just good. Tuna was a bit too strong in flavor. All were well made, easy to eat. The gyoza were great, the star of the meal. Next time we will order more! The miso soup was decent, but just a bit bland. The ginger salad needed more ginger. The chicken fried rice was disappointing at best - chicken was dry, and the veggies included corn - weird. I've never seen corn in fried rice. The rice really had little flavor. We will be back, mainly because it's the only sushi in town and sometimes we don't want to drive further. read more

AMAZING!! The menu gives you a great range of choices. Everything was delicious and fresh. Also our kids enjoyed the food, especially the chicken fried rice and miso soup. I would*really* like to order from here, but I can only get takeout for sushi because I have celiac disease and they only have soy sauce with wheat in it so I need to take it home to eat and use my own soy sauce. Each time I have called or went in person to order, they told me they do not accept takeout or there is a 2-hour wait for takeout. Customers who were seated were being served in a timely manner, more than half the tables in this small place were empty and there was no wait. I could understand if the place is hopping and they just can't accommodate takeout orders but it was pretty quiet. The second time I showed up in person hoping to order takeout (not expecting anything to be ready immediately. I'm fine with waiting), I asked if there was a difference if I was seated and if I was willing to tip, just ask for a takeout box instead of waiting 2 hours.. They said no. Some places have the reputation where people drive for hours to get there and don't mind a two-hour wait, but this is a relatively new business to the area and no one is going to wait that long Hopefully, this new place has it a little more together at some point. But maybe they just don't want the business. read more

So far Orion sushi has been nothing, but perfect. The wait can be really long sometime, even when you get carry out, but the wait is worth it if you want good sushi. I haven't not tried their Thai on the menu, so I can't help you there. Inside of the place is okay, definitely could use an update, but overall I would give this place a 4 out of 5. read more

Super fast and very reasonably priced. Miso soup was a hit at home with the kids and the California roll was spot on. I should have read the menu closer for the Phillidelphia roll because I didn't realize it had salmon in it. I guess I've eaten cheaper versions elsewhere and had no idea it had salmon in it....not anything to blame the restaurant for. I only had carry out, but from what I could tell the restaurant was very clean. It's nice to have a choice of sushi closer to home! read more
