I have been so excited for this place to open and tried it a few times now both when they were doing local delivery and now at the shop. Unfortunately, it leaves me disappointed. I've lived in the north side of Chicago most of my life and when I relocated out to the Burbs I knew there would be sacrifices. One of the things near and dear to me was new york bagel and bialy. Until today I have not found a bagel that does it like they do. I was super impressed with Bad Guy Bagels. After one bagel they are my new go to for that kind of bagel taste. These bagels tasted so fresh! There's such a huge variety of bagels and Schmear's, the combinations are truly endless. The bagels are definitely on the smaller size but because of how much me there is it really fills you up. My husband had the bagel sandwich which was vegetarian and he loved it. I would highly recommend the jalapeño cheddar with Jordana Schmear. Great for pick up, not a lot of seating inside. The service was very quick even on a holiday. read more

Let me start out by saying that I always support local businesses and have the utmost respect for what it takes to make it thrive. However it is with regret that I am about to post probably the poorest review I have or ever will. If I could choose zero stars I would. I respect that this is a Super Bowl and yes the weekend. I wanted to treat myself and my elderly aunt to something special, a treat. I drove all the way from Elgin which is about at least 20 minutes past bagel shops in my area to go here. I ordered two bagels not toasted with cream cheese. Easy no special requests. I waited and watched at least five other people after me walk away with larger and more specialized orders. I still waited. Finally the person who I assume is the owner asked asked If I was helped. Ok here is my version of what happened. I said no and I told him my name. But I also mentioned that I was waiting a long time and that the only complaint that I had was that I saw other people getting their orders when they were after me. On top of that I did not even get the bagel I wanted as they filled all the other orders before me. I was still ok with that!! After I finally got after at least twenty minutes waiting my order. A customer who walked in after got in my face telling me that I was unreasonable and ruining it for everyone else. Everyone around me in there looked at me like I was the most horrible person. It would have helped if the person who I interacted with had said something in my defense but stood there. I was in tears when I left and gave my food to someone in my house as I did not have the stomach to eat it. Was I supposed to wait and say nothing? I didn't complain about the wait. I didn't complain when I didn't get what I ordered. I did complain when I felt ignored, and then embarrassed and humiliated. There is a new Whole Foods opening in St Charles soon and will be at least fifteen minutes closer. I will be going there for bagels now. read more

Best bagels ever! Hubby is from NJ and I swear I thought I had to drive 13 hours to get bagels this good, but Joe came to our rescue and I hope he never leaves. Seriously crunchy on the outside, perfect bounce on the inside. My only complaint is that he puts poppy on his salt bagels. 5 stars isn't a high enough rating for this business. The quality of the food here is top notch- but doesn't compare to the quality of service you'll receive. I reached out to as many Geneva and St Charles businesses asking for support for a dear friend that just went through the worst possible life changing event. These businesses don't even know who I am. I got a message back from Joe quickly jumping in to help. Not only did he support with a generous gift card for my friend, but he also offered to supply bagels and schmear for the wake. Again, I want to point out the fact that I and my friend's family are complete strangers to him and he did not hesitate to help his community. My family will be loyal customers forever. This is a local business owner who truly loves their community. Highly recommend their catering trays as well. They are beautifully put together and amazing for any get together. I'm all for supporting local business but I won't be returning to Bad Guy Bagels. I've been looking for a local business that makes fresh bagels but this isn't the place. The half dozen bagels I bought were as hard as rock. The jalapeno cheese bagels had very little of either and no cheese on top. I've had far better bagels from Jewel. Bad Bagels. read more

I eat a bagel every morning. As soon as I saw the post that these are free delivery in the area while awaiting their shop to open, I jumped! I ordered a dozen. I had them delivered and they were still warm! I was impressed! I ordered 10 cheese bagels and 2 everything bagels. These are true NY bagels. Chewy outside with softer inside. They are dense. I can see this being a great stop for the locals and/or tourists that take day trips to the area. Service is outstanding! I've had the best of the best from New York City and Miami delis where they don't typically toast bagels they are so soft and fresh mouthwatering delicious and many other places I've had delicious & very freshly baked ready to eat bagels. I decided to try this place. Not sure if they actually bake onsite because I happened to arrive early enough to see a man bringing in several very large bags of bagels in a sedan. The bagels already in the cases were warmed as though they just came out of an oven so maybe some are and some are not? It was not warm in there as though ovens running I arrived 6:45am. I didn't smell bread baking. My bagels were warm to touch, but tough. I thought I'd toast them. Red flag from past many experiences with bagels, perhaps, but I had to see what all the hype is about this place. As they cooled they got hard and tougher. I'll go elsewhere for bagels. read more
