Wonderful bagels! I can't believe that I haven't written a review. I thought that I did. This place is like a NY deli but next to the FOX RIVER and super nice staff. They close by 1pm so you have to get out there early. I'm sad that I live so far away. My son who lives in Batavia is the one who told me about Jake's bagels. Delicious bagels with lots of varieties of cream cheese. I love the everything bagel and the salsa cream cheese, the onion cream cheese. There is seating inside as well. If you sit outside you can sit and look at the Fox River. Such a cute place. read more

I always try and hit a local bagel place when I am in a new town.... Jake's did not disappoint.!! Perfect service. Cool vibe. Fireplace and river views..... Oh, and the bagels were awesome! See photos. Good skin, good density, great taste. I always get my bagels double toasted with butter. Complete bonus: homemade rice crispy treats!! First time try of Jake's Bagels & I'll be back! Walking in you can tell this is a long time staple to many, a mom & pop ambiance. There was ample seating outside as well as inside. The service was friendly with a smile, timely, & efficient. Let's get to it though...The food here was amazing. I got a bagel turkey sandwich with cheese & the cream of rice soup. You wouldn't think a sandwhich could be this good! I was sold & immediately wanted to go back. The bagels were perfectly cooked with a sold center and the perfect texture for the outside. The turkey was fresh. The soup was creamy with lots of rice and other goodness, perfectly piping hot & delish. A friend and I stopped in during lunch and we were very surprised to see the line was almost out the door. Staff members were very nice and helpful. The space is large and has 2 different areas for indoor seating. I'd say it can seat up to 40ish people. I tried the lox sandwich on an egg bagel and ordered a bagel with cream cheese for my husband. There were quite a number of bagels that were out of stock (ie sesame). Overall everything was OK. The bagel itself wasn't my favorite, pretty standard bagel, nothing special or mind blowing in my opinion. The contents of the lox bagel and cream cheese were delicious though. I got a half-dozen bagels - 2 each of poppy seed, sesame seed, and everything - just before closing on Tuesday. I ended up having one of each at room temperature with no toppings, and one of each with lots of regular - not whipped - cream cheese and lots of alfalfa sprouts. The bagels were dense and glisteny, like proper bagels. All were outstanding and, at $6.99 for the half-dozen, a great value. Today was my first time at Jake's bagels I did not know what to expect. The coke was kinda flat you couldn't really taste the carbonation. The chips were fresh. The creamy chicken rice was amazing fresh and hot. The bacon egg and cheese bagel was very big and worth the money. The bagel dog my dad ordered was very delicious. Besides the food, the service was exceptional. A shout out to Rebecca, She was very friendly and was very patient in taking our order. And for that reason alone we recommend Jake's bagels. read more

I loved the vibe at Jake's! You enter into this super cozy little deli with plenty of seating and are met with a beautiful selection of bagels. I wish I would've had time to sit and eat, but I was on my way to work. I ordered a turkey sandwich on an onion bagel and, unfortunately, it was not my fave. The portion was generous and the bagel was tasty, but the turkey was soggy and tasted stale to me. The real winner was the cookie bar I had. It was incredible. Day changing. Jake's Bagels And Deli is about the freshest you can get anywhere around town. Has a dine in area so you can enjoy your bagel right away. The prices aren't bad overall. Came in recently at breakfast. It looks like this place could have been here years ago and not changed. This is an old school deli that's rare in the age of corporate behemoths with no charm whatsoever. It's $1.19 for a bagel. The spreads include cream cheese, jelly, and peanut butter among others. It's a couple bucks to add something onto a bagel. They also make sandwiches like with lox and other meats if you're into that. Also they have a lot of sides to choose from. There's bags of potato chips, but also homemade salads that are fresher than grocery store deli items. Be sure to check it out some day early. It has the best bagels when they're fresh. They also can run out of some flavors meaning getting there early is important so you can try before someone takes the last of something. read more

The bagels and cream cheese are great. Traditional chewy bagels. Lots of choices. It's definitely a mom n pop place. Nothing is systematized or customer friendly. The ordering system is disjointed and payment area is confusing. One size on beverages is comical since it is a 22 ounce cup. Everything is packaged to go regardless. Lots of wasted paper and packaging. Employees run into each other trying to serve guests. They are clearly not environmentally aware and are most likely not making any profits. A good restaurant consultant could save them labor, increase employee satisfaction,costs and make the guest experience easier. read more

I've been going to Jake's Bagels since they were on Farnsworth and I was a little girl. This little gem looks like it's plucked straight out of a Hallmark movie. Complete with a brick hearth inside (which is wonderful in the winter!) In the summer you can eat outside on their deck overlooking the Fox River. The food is awesome! The bagels are small, and the banana one really had no discernible banana flavor. The bagels were also dense. I prefer a fluffier bagel with a good chewy crust and this wasn't it. I'm a Long Island NY native and I'm kind of picky. You may think these are just fine, but I would never take my parents there and that's my deciding factor for good bagels. I'll keep looking. The day I went the place was very busy. It was also unclear exactly who was waiting to order and who hadn't, where to wait, what the process was...
