My husband and I both ordered the sloppy Joe grilled cheese and we were left in awe!! From the soft crunchy butter Texas toast, to the flavorful sloppy Joe with American cheese. My 4yo is a bit of a grilled cheese connoisseur, however she never finishes the sandwich and certainly doesn't eat the crust. However not only did she finish the kids meal, she asked for more and then finished a whole other sandwich including the crust! I've been hankering to try this place for awhile. We were cheerfully greeted whem we entered. All our questions were answered on the menu. The place is very cute and has a deli like feel. The soups are homemade. I did not order the soup, but the grilled cheese was absolutely delectable! I had the Messie Jessie with 2 cheeses, London broil, horseradish sauce and a side of au jous! The Mac and cheese side was good and cheesy. My friend ordered the Nakatomi with teriyaki chicken and pineapple with cheese. All served on perfectly grilled Texas toast! Yummy!! Then, we noticed something we just had to try.... Turano glazed donut grilled cheese!!! What a great dessert! The chef came out and checked on us. First timer came in 45 minutes before closing and was greeted like family. Emily, Leah and Bryce were welcoming and genial,I believe it added to the ambiance! I ordered a Reuben and I was told it was a favorite.. I can see why the rye was toasted correctly ( not too light not to burnt) meat sauerkraut and dressing (Russian homemade) were well proportioned.. I've been to Everdine's a few times now. The have a very nice staff and an interesting variety of sandwich offerings. The dining room has a deli-ish feel to it with the menu board and walk-up counter. Everything I have tried there so far has been rather delicious. With that said, it is honestly rather expensive for basically fancy grilled cheese sandwiches. It is easy for two people to spend $40 or more. It's tasty and definitely worth trying. The staff was super friendly and happy to help with custom orders. The place was clean, and there were tons of food options. Overall, a great experience--I'll definitely be back! I had the all American grilled cheese, which was just a grilled cheese on Texas toast. My Sister got the Hulk Smash, she said it was good, just wished there was more meatball on it, as it was very small for a smash. Absolutely nothing I would change about our food! I got the Mostly Maui Wowie (grilled cheese with ham and pineapple) and my husband got the Eddie Mack and Cheese (grilled cheese with Mac and cheese). Bread was delicious and toasted perfectly, the cheese perfectly melted. My bread to cheese to ham to pineapple ratio was balanced. The side chips and drinks were also excellent. I pride myself on a well made grilled cheese sandwich, but didnt realize this place would make my creations seem basic. They have a huge menu with a lot of ingredients to build your sandwich. They also have 15 or so named sandwiches to choose from. I had my heart set on a grilled cheese and some mac and cheese..so I married the two by getting the Eddie's Mack n' Cheese. That went down way too easily. A hungrier me would have had two. I supplemented with a bowl of tomato soup, which was also delicious. We've been watching and waiting for Everdine's to open in Batavia, and today they finally did! The space is bright with lots of seating. The staff was friendly and checked in with us after we got our food to make sure we were doing well. They have a surprisingly large selection of grilled cheese sandwiches, including several creative options, and if you aren't enticed by those choices you can customize your own sandwich. The Mostly Maui Wowie was like eating a grilled cheese version of a Hawaiian pizza, and the Sloppy Mack was hearty and a good choice for a chilly winter day. We enjoyed both. The tomato soup was good, but could have been slightly thicker and more savory. We'll definitely be back to try more of the menu! read more
