By Saturday morning, I noticed the tap water was exceptional hot, too hot to touch. Then, by Saturday night I ran out of hot water. Resetting the heater seemed to fix the issue, but it overheated the water again. After some researching and contemplating my options, I decided to reach out to a professional. I contacted Mark to see if he could come and diagnose my heater and offer a quote for any repairs needed. Mark was able to come over my house as soon as I was available to meet him. He was very professional and analyzed the situation and gave me a few options on how to remedy it. Most likely, the thermostat in the heater went and it would need to be replaced. But since my heater was 13 years old, another option, probably the better one, would be to replace the entire heater. Mark quoted me a very fair price to fix my heater, or replace and install a new one. Mark shared his professional opinion, and the options, without trying to sell me anything, or pressure me one way or another. I had asked Mark how soon he would be able to fix the heater, and how fast. To my surprise, Mark said he had an opening the very next day, and it would only take about an hour to install a new one. After Mark left, I discussed my options with acquaintances and family, and I decided the best decision would be just to replace the heater. A couple hours later, I called Mark and asked several more questions. He answered my questions professionally and respectfully. He was not condescending and was very patient with my inquiries. I decided to hire Mark to replace the heater. The next day he arrived with one other person, and the new heater, ready for installation. I was amazed by his speed and precision with installing the heater, piping, and electrical wire. If I had tried to install this myself, it would have probably taken me days; it took Mark 1 hour. The heater is working great, and the installation looks fabulous! After a stressful weekend of not knowing if, or when, I would have hot water, it was great to finally relax and be able to enjoy a long, hot shower with my girlfriend.

When our pipes froze during the big storm this January (thankfully, without water in them), we decided to hire Plumbums again. That didn't go as well. Quality of work: The fixes Jim suggested (a series of individual junction fixes) seemed reasonable for the repairs needed, but in some cases replacing whole sections would have been more time- and cost-efficient (according to other plumbers we've had in our home who have seen the work done). And we needed four return visits within our first three days living in the house to address issues that had not been resolved or that popped up as soon as we turned systems on. One problem (heat running constantly on our first floor, making the house over 80 degrees in the winter) was unresolved until I researched possible causes myself and communicated that to Jim, who sent out one of his guys to implement the fix. Professionalism: We were frustrated by the lack of care shown toward our property. Jim's guys left plumbing debris (not just the stuff our homeowner's insurance requested, but just straight-up trash), food trash, and drywall dust in our basement and living areas. This means that the first thing we had to do after driving 3,200 miles to move in was clean up after them. Drywall was removed roughly in several locations, and although patching was not included in the estimate, the cuts themselves appeared unnecessarily sloppy (and our new plumber neatly cuts and replaces drywall as a matter of course, leaving the mudding to us, which is fine). Plumbums did work well with our insurance company to get our claim handled, and ultimately we have working plumbing. But our experience wasn't great.

The gentlemen, Mike and Andre, that cleaned a clogged pipe we had with a giant snake, were really pleasant, kept everything clean and kept me informed about what their doing and what their recommendations were. Once they finished the work, I had another gentlemen come, Justin, who was an inspector and checked that the pipes we have are still good and there aren't any additional issues I should worry about. He too was really kind and allowed me to view exactly what he was seeing and walked me through the process. It was also nice that none of them tried to upsell me on additonal services or add ons. This inspector service was recommended to me and was free of charge. The snake drain cleaning was their most basic service for what I needed and was $700. I didn't do much shopping around so I don't know how their rate compares to others. Overall, I had a really good experience with them and would recommend it especially if you have urgent plumbing needs.

No call back after a full week. I finally schedule service and the first service tech is unable to resolve the issue and says he will need to order parts. I get a date when they will come back and end up with a service tech that replaces the faucet and shower head and leaves me with a dripping shower faucet and a hole in the wall that I tells me I need to get an access cover with no real details. He also tells me that since they can't replace the fixtures in my bathroom sink I need to purchase a new vanity and faucet. Mind you over the several days that it took to come out the second time these items could have been ordered and at my home or ready for pick up. On the scheduled day of the third appointment I get a call as I am leaving work to get home for the service that indicates the service tech has an emergency and can't make it. On the fourth day I get several calls from scheduling about where to pick up the items I ordered and then finally requesting the order number. Two techs arrive to install the new vanity and faucet. During the install they started talking about me or another customer while in my bathroom. After all this they try to convince me that my shower faucet isn't leaking and then say if it starts to they can come back. In addition after they left I found two of my towels balled up on the floor wet and with debris in them. They never asked to use these towels for this purpose. My shower faucet is still dripping. At least I have new fixtures and a new vanity.
