My invoice and receipt didn't show an hourly rate or part price (should have been my first red flag). Professional plumbers in the area charge half this amount. My 80-yr old stepmom called us (we live in Virginia) to report a leak under the kitchen sink. Checked Yelp for a local plumber and found Perleoni Plumbing. Called to make an appointment, let them know she had onset dementia and really no idea what was the real issue, and within 2 hours, a plumber was at her house in New Britain. It was a loose fitting and the plumber took care of it immediately. The most surprising part: it was the owner who went out and didn't charge us! We offered to pay something but they refused. This is now Andy Wotton Plumbing business. This is not an honest business. Stay away. Not only their prices are like a robbery in the daylight, but they cheated me out of my hard earned money. I requested a removal of two bathtub's valve's trim, overflows and spouts in preparation for these two bathtubs being reglazed. The second appointment was in two days to install them back after reglazing. I paid $500 ($250 for the removal and $250 for installing them back) for these two services. For removal the service guy was there maybe for 30 min. and the installation took him maybe an hour. The owner promised that he was not going to charge me $100 show-up fee for the second visit, yet both visits have been charged the same. Also, the guy they sent was a very nice fellow, but he was not very competent in what he was doing. While installing the second bathtub valve trim with caulk on it he had to remove it and try again. The caulk was smeared all over that area on the newly reglazed bathtub wall and valve's trim itself. Maybe they are good for big jobs, but for me it was like let's quickly make some quick buck while sending an inexperienced guy. read more

The most incompetent and unprofessional company I have ever worked with. The owner was disrespectful and rude to my girlfriend and I, charged $1000 that was supposed to go towards future work and basically walked off the job when he couldn't figure out a solution, leaving me with sewage water backing up in my house. I hired these guys to come out after finding water backing up into my basement. I also asked them to check out the hot water in the shower, which recently had been only getting warm and not truly hot. They came and snaked the main line out of the house but couldn't get it clear, which had been causing the water backup. They worked on the shower and left saying they'd call to set up another appointment for a camera crew to check the blockage, and warned not to use the water in the house unless absolutely needed, including flushing the toilet. I paid $500 toward the shower work, and $500 toward the clogged line, and was told we'd settle up after the backup was solved. The next day I tested the shower and found the controls for the hot and cold water had been reversed. After a couple long days of miscommunications and no water, they sent someone out to get the hot and cold shower controls working normally, but it still didn't get hot, only warm. It says on their website hot water is supposed to run at 120° F, mine was only hitting 100, 20° lower than what it should be. Still no progress on getting a camera crew out, or solving the blockage - the most important issue, and while I was away the worker told my GF she needed to be more assertive when she talked to him, and some other chauvinist crap. I called on Saturday morning, hoping to clear the air of any previous miscommunications and get the work back on track. The owner immediately got defensive about not being able to fix the hot water issue, lecturing me about how he's been doing this job longer than I've been alive. He made some weak comparison about me "remembering" the hot water was better before, and how his car used to run better before, and everything used to be better before. He told me there was nothing else he could do about it. I said I guess I'd have to get another company to get it solved. He started to get off the phone, I said "wait a minute, what about the blockage in the mainline?" He said "well if you're going to get someone else to work on the shower, then why don't you just get them to solve the blockage?" Shocked, I said "oh it's like that, huh?" He said "yeah it's like that". I told him the mainline is still backing up water in my basement, and the hot water is still just warm, everything's the same as before you came, what did I even pay you for? And he said "that's a billing question, Saturday is for emergency calls only, you're going to have to call back during the week about that," and hung up on me. I guess not being able to use the water including the toilet didn't constitute an emergency to them. I also realized this is not the same company that I originally found on Yelp. The link for William B. Perleoni Plumbing, who have a 4.5/5 stars rating, connects to the phone number for Andy Wotton Plumbing, the guy I had the trouble with. My guess is Perleoni retired, and Wotton took over his business, taking with him all the goodwill that Perleoni had built up over the years, which Wotton clearly doesn't deserve. I booked this plumber, William B. Perleoni because of prior good Yelp reviews. What I got instead was a company called Andy Wotton Plumbing and Heating; Andy said no worries, the companies had 'merged.' Andy and his assistant charged me $350 to replace a brass Symmons stem in a shower valve, which controls the flow of hot or cold water. The remove and replace job took about 15 minutes. The Symmons stem at Home Depot might be $85 at most. They took me for a mark and called the job 'rebuilding' the shower valve. I believe they unreasonably inflated their price because they saw me as a mark. I believe they operated dishonestly and unfairly. They probably look for marks at each stop and set their job price accordingly. read more

I had a great experience with Anthony, one of the plumbers from this company. They had a very fast response rate and were very flexible. I had an issue from a house I recently bought where the plumbing was done all wrong and realized after tenants moved in and the leaks started happening. Anthony was able to identify the what the long term fix was rather address it for the time being. Very respectable and great customer service. I requested a quote on here (Yelp) and in less than 15 minutes Bill was calling me to find out what I needed. I had started changing out a faulty water heater but had realized upon removing the old one that the connections were not what I had expected. So I needed it hooked up and quickly (unless I wanted to boil water on the stove for bathing). Bill and Anthony were at my house within an hour and very quickly and professionally connected the water heater and took the old one away for a very reasonable charge. I have been meaning to write for a year now, but really wanted to forget the whole experience. The plumbers entered my home with loud voices, denigrating a culture, yelled for me to bring pans and towels when there was a water leak (isn't that what plumbers should be prepared for?), overcharged me, would not itemize a bill, and left a mess. 6 months later another plumber, who I called when the problem resurfaced, discovered they did not fix the original problem...left behind moldy towels (my towels) stuffed around the pipes, which is why I didn't discover it until later. Watch out for this crew. He will try and take your money. Had an issue with my Kohler toilet constantly running (About 10 years old). On the phone he said we needed to replace the toilet. To his credit, he came over within a day, and was very considerate and nice (Until he was leaving). When I had him over, I showed him the toilet and how the gasket that came off. He said I needed a new toilet and it would cost me $700?!?! Told me he had it in the van, and can replace it right there and is a much better toilet (Which I don't doubt it probably was a better toilet, but $700+ dollars better.....COME ON). When I asked if we can just replace or fix the inside, he said it would take more money and he didn't have the parts and would have to fish around and that overall it would be more expensive. I said I would like to price shop a bit, and he tried to charge me $140 to just come out . (Which he did not disclose before coming out nor did I pay). I took pictures of the gasket and inside of the toilet. (Which I should have done from the start), brought to Home Depot. The associate there showed me that it was likely a gasket, and how to replace it which was VERY SIMPLE. Spent $5 on the gasket, went home and replaced. The associate at home depot showed me the other pieces I can replace and did so as well. The toilet works better then ever. So, I suggest you use extra caution with this plumber. A $5 fix could have cost me $700+ according to him. Not saying everything is do-it-yourself like my problem, but when I go to a plumber, and want someone I can trust, my thoughts are if your a first time customer, he will try and take every dollar he can get from you and suggest things that aren't in your best interest. read more

True to legend, Debbie picked up the phone, relayed my message, and within an hour I had Bill and Anthony at my home. Their approach is very familial so if you are uptight you will need to loosen up. They came right in and were ready to get to work. It was a mix of entitlement and a can-do attitude. I had to stop and ask some details - like how much and how long it would take. The fact that they could get to work right away was worth the fact that they were about 10% higher than any other quote I had gotten. The work was done in under an hour. I was able to get a quote for some other important work at my house and I'm considering this team again. They are happy plumbers. Too happy? Nah. Do they practice their jokes in the truck? Probably. But I have a new toilet and I'm happy about it and they were entertaining to boot. read more
