I thought this was the best place in Wall! We went there on night 2. Great country music playlist in the background, decent drinks, GREAT food! the chicken fried steak was HUGE - we shared it and still took home leftovers. But most importantly, it was really good - the batter was crispy and perfectly fried, the meat inside filled the entire thing so not crust with air lol, and it was tender, the gravy was on point! Pleasantly surprised and would definitely go back. I like the small town country feel of the place. Our waitress was great & attentive. We went in November during Thanksgiving actually, and it was already decorated in holiday festiveness. This town is like shut down in the off season, so parking was easy, no wait to get a table.

Badlands Saloon and Grille was quite disappointing. We ended up here because everything else in the town had closed already. I guess you could call Wall, SD a two horse town and they roll up the sidewalks around 7pm. We waited a little while to be seated. Our server was very friendly, which is why I gave her 3 stars. Unfortunately, she was bartending as well, so our service was very slow. My food was brought out around 15 minutes before my husband received his. My husband had chicken strips and fries. Fries were okay, but chicken strips tasted either old or some off brand pre-made frozen breaded chicken that is thrown into the fryer. I had mozzarella sticks. They were okay, no flavor to the batter though. The marinara tasted like tomato paste. Yuck. We ordered lemonade, but the machine ran out. All in all, not a good experience.

Great service: friendly waitress. Food was good, kind of basic. Chislic was really good and glad we tried it. Portions were large. French fries were just ok--very fried. Bison burger was not dry but definitely tasted different than beef. Final bill pricing was odd--not what the menu reflected, which was disconcerting.

Great service and tasty food! Ordered the country fried steak, two egg, hash-brown and biscuit with gravy for breakfast. Boyfriend and I shared the plate and it was PLENTY to fill us up without over loading the belly. Enjoyed their IPA on tap (yes, at 9am no judgement). The lady sever on this Sunday morning was very sweet and quick with service. Open indoor area with beautiful wooden individual booth seats that were rather large. Will come back again to try other delicious items on the menu.

Stayed in Wall on a frigid night, needing to get off the highway and rest. Since it's the off-season, and cold as heck outside, the town was pretty dead but our hotel recommended Badlands Saloon so we ventured back out and were not disappointed. The place was well-decorated and on-theme for the town and you can tell it's probably bustling in the busier months. There was one server/bartender and what looked to be a few locals at the bar and eating in the back, so on our visit it was quiet and service was probably slower than normal. Didn't bother us one bit since we were tired from our drive and enjoyed the calm and relaxed atmosphere. Food was amazing. Of course I need to highly rate any place that has mozzarella sticks as an app and actually gives you more than 4 or 5 to share. The marinara was good, and the sticks came out hot and ready to dip. My son got the pastrami burger and said it was excellent. The fries were also perfectly cooked. I ordered the NY Strip with baby bakers and a salad and was almost 100% satisfied. The steak was tender and cooked exactly to my temperature. It was just seasoned enough to add a little flavor without overpowering the meat and very juicy. I did have a considerable amount of fat on my cut, but I know some people really enjoy it, so I just cut it off and put it to the side. The baby bakers were delicious, but I do wish they came with a small cup of melted butter or some sour cream or even cheese dip. Not all of us like to slather our food in ketchup. The salad was very good, with fresh greens and the perfect amount of crutons, cheese and tomato. I'm not sure if their ranch is house made, but it was some of the best ranch dressing I've had. Finally, I did get a roll and butter, but the roll was very hard and I could not eat it. Again, I just set it to the side. Overall, this was a great choice for a satisfying meal after a long, cold day. The service was friendly, the ambiance was fun and cozy, and the food was very good, even with a few less than savory issues. If you're ever passing through Wall, I don't think you could go wrong stopping in the Badlands Saloon.

We chose this place because they advertised dog friendly on their outdoor alley patio. The menu sounded good, and since we travel with our fur baby we are always on the lookout for outdoor seating. Boy, did we get a surprise. Their outdoor seating was definitely an alley, with dumpsters right up against seating area. There were three tables, but only ONE was decent enough to sit at. Service was definitely slow. After we finally placed our orders, we sat for thirty minutes trying to struggle through pretty nasty tasting tea (bitter aftertaste). Every car that came through the alley kicked up dust. My husband went in to tell them to make our order to go, and they said the kitchen was backed up and she would see that ours was packed up. We brought it back to our camper to eat. As for the food, my husband ordered the pastrami burger with fries. He said it was "okay". I had a bowl of their loaded baked potato soup. It was some of the runniest I've ever seen, but the flavor was good. I also had a side salad with poppyseed vinaigrette, which was some very tasty dressing. So basically...the food was just okay, the service was slow, and the ambience was a big fat zero. Do yourself a favor and go try the other restaurant in town, The Red Rock!!!

We visited in the off-season and were seated promptly. The restaurant is large and would seat many customers. The booth we sat in would comfortably fit 6 adults. We were waited on quickly. Our server was nice , but she spoke so fast that she was hard to understand. It did take some time for our food to come out after ordering. My burger was good, although my fries came out cold. Not the end of the world. My husband did enjoy his meal. Decor is what you would expect for the area. The bench seats in the booth were a bit uncomfortable. Maybe because we traveled all day?

My family was visiting the Badlands and dined here for both dinner and breakfast. I thought both meals were good. For dinner I ordered a chicken sandwich with a side of beans, which I enjoyed. Then for breakfast the biscuits and gravy were excellent. I appreciated that they opened early since my body was still on eastern time. I liked the atmosphere as well.

Popped in for a quick breakfast. Got a free order of biscuits and gravy and French toast through our cabin rental. The breakfast menu looked really great and I would have loved to try some other stuff if we were in town longer. The ambiance was quiet and low key as several patrons were going in and out to start their day. Service was quick and to the point and left us wanting for nothing. If you have the free breakfast voucher, get the biscuits and gravy. They were pretty good. If any other menu items are catching your eye, maybe get one to split with your dining mate since the free items aren't huge and don't come with sides.

Food was delicious and fulfilling. Service was enjoyable. Ambiance was quiet and relaxing. If I ever find myself back in Wall. I'll definitely be back eating here.

What a wonderful place! We went for breakfast and a late lunch. Both times our waitresses were simply amazing and made our experience wonderful! They both had personality and very friendly. The food was All Delicious! The restaurant is updated and super nice! We absolutely loved it!

Beer was good and cold, but service was slow to nonexistent and food was mediocre and touristy I guess is the word. Fried pickles were sliced in a weird way and had a funky texture. Update - If you have to spend the night in Wall, which is another review altogether, this place also services breakfast, and it was actually pretty darned good. The Days Inn we stayed in gave us coupons for breakfast so we gave it another shot and I'm glad we did. It was a much better experience than dinner the night before. I'm guessing the whole town or most of it is owned by whoever owns the restaurant or there's some other deal going on because everyone seemed to have coupons for free pancakes or free french toast. Still a solid 3, but there ain't too many other options in that area from what I could tell.

    Steak tips with beans
    Robin S.

    - Good beer list but the table menu only lists the canned beers. No mention of the few they have on tap. Why? - Very few options for vegetarians. - Steak tips were ok but quite tough. Side of beans too sweet. - Service was slow and not very welcoming. I have to think being across from Wall Drug might have an influence there. Maybe they deal with too many jerk tourists. Still, it wasn't good. - Ambiance is not at all 'saloon' - more like diner. This might be the best bar in Wall, I don't know. But it's not real good.

Ate here twice on our Badlands trip in November (Thanksgiving weekend when the town is like…read morebasically shut down)! The first night we tried the Buffalo Ravioli Bolognese & a steak with "seasonal veggies" (multi-colored-carrots). My Bolognese was good, but a little too much flavor on the meat sauce overwhelmed the ravioli. The Carrots with the steak were undercooked with no flavor. They really like Basalmic! its on the salads, veggie drizzle, coated the meatloaf - thinking in the bolognese too based on the flavor profile. 2nd day we got the buffalo meatloaf to share - my dad kept going on and on telling everyone how that's the best meatloaf he's ever had. It came with the carrots again & broccoli, plus mash potatoes. The Wedge Salad - probably the BEST I've ever had! We got it both nights! Now we are addicted to ordering them every time we have dinner together. I also tried the Huckleberry margarita (they were out of blackberries to make the Blackberries & Cream but I really wanted to try that too). It was sweet but unique. The ambience & decor was very attractive and part of what made us pick this restaurant first in our 3 night stay. It's on the corner down the road from Wall Drug. Beautiful white stone shopping strip. Had a gorgeous Holiday decor to it - Big tree in the front door and a few small ones. Brown leather chairs & hightop, Edison lighting everywhere, Cobblestone at the bar....Rustic and chic.

Had to flag down a waiter to take our order. But service turned out good. The restaurant has a modern western theme which was warm and inviting. They also had a wedding going on up on the second level which was fun ands exciting. As for the food, I ordered the wedge salad with steak. The steak was chucks of steak (mo small portion) for $12.00 extra and they were cold but flavorful. The salad portion was also on the small side. My husband's side wedge salad was much larger. He ordered the Cornish hen was tasty severed with delicious mashed potatoes which were buttery and on point.

You gotta love a dive with lots of local color…read more This is mainly a rancher/local/biker hangout, which gets kinda crazy during the Sturgis Bike Rally. But it's also fun when it's not rally. This "old west" style saloon has been around for a long, long time. This is the sort of place you go to, to just sit quietly and listen to the locals, who are rowdy, red-necky (in a good way), and funny. Don't expect to hear any deep talks about Thoreau (and it's probably a brilliant idea to keep politics/religion to yourself). Instead, if you like history and just hearing about people's lives, this is the place to go. The beer is dirt cheap. It used to have SUPER cheap baskets of fry/shrimp combos. But this is just off and on nowadays depending upon the owner's mood and if she felt like turning the fryers on. It's interesting to walk around the very tiny bar and look at the walls. Since probably the 1920's, local ranchers have been coming here and donating wooden plaques. Each plaque has a cow engraved and painted on it (ex. Hereford, Angus, Gurney), and the cow represents the kind of ranch they run. Then, in the center of each cow a branding iron has a branding of what each rancher's "brand" is. Then below that, the family name. The last time I was here, (March 2011), I heard quite a bit about some old ranchers who've long since passed away. One time, several years ago, I went there and a sign was taped to the front door reading, "I won't be here til noon today. Here's the key. If you have to use the bathroom, let yourself in." I mean, who would do that and be that trusting these days?

The food is good but nothing special. Service was horrible. They need to better train their wait…read morestaff.
