This is a very small town hole in the wall bar, but it certainly did the trick for a simple dinner spot. There's not much outside the badlands here, and when the KOA campground gets backlogged with Pizza orders, Wagon Wheel Bar and Grill is where you can turn! So thankful to have stumbled upon this bar while looking for a place to eat near Badlands National Park. There's not many restaurants out there but this place is a true hidden gem in the middle of seemingly nowhere! The service was great, the seating was cozy in a western bar type of way with a pool table and darts. The restaurant has lots of bar food, like burgers, chicken sandwiches, steak sandwiches, chicken tenders and fries - They've got the most delicious onion petals - I want to go back just to get those again! Served on a paper plate with a cold beer, and I don't know why, but it just hit the spot! We will most certainly stop by again on our next Badlands trip! read more

Had landed in Rapid City that morning and the Badlands was the planned destination for the afternoon. Staff was friendly, and the burgers were good. I ordered a Coke, and they just hand you a cold can. They did bring me a cup with ice when I asked but in a sit down restaurant it was a little weird to me. Me, I'd go to Wagon Wheel. - Old school saloon with bar, pool table, game machines. - No draft beer but they have a decent selection of bottles and cans. - Menu is limited. There are minimal places to stop in this town... so i was a little wary. Didn't want to pay over priced food inside the park, escaped to this place for a quick bite. The food was surprisingly good. Nothing exceptional, but much better than what you would expect. The servers were friendly but it is totally a local dive bar... if you don't want kids exposed to that atmosphere. Questionable picture on the wall Liquor store... They put a regular bottle inside the box of an upgraded bottle.. and charged the price of the upgrade. Popped in here after a long day at Badlands. Had a beer ($4) and some fried onion blossoms ($4). Can't remember the last time I went anywhere and got out for $10 for a drink, an appetizer and tip. And in a national park gateway town, no less. Place was quiet, staff was friendly, service was quick. We had a delicious dinner before entering Badlands National Park! This bar and grill was one of the few restaurants in Interior SD and we decided to try it out. The waiter / owner was very friendly and he was prompt. We ordered three homemade pizzas and the owner was honest to tell us how long the wait was before putting in our order. They were only able to heat one pizza at a time. The pizzas were very delicious. The bison burger (or buffalo burger?) was disappointed though. The meat was very hard and overcooked - not sure if that was the way the meat was supposed to be. The interior decor was cute. It had a few arcade machine and billiards table inside. My wife and I stopped here while staying at a nearby campground to visit the Badlands. If you are familiar with the area then you know the choices are slim. The place is just a run of the mill small town bar. There were a few other people we recognized from the campground as well. The woman who served us was very friendly and helpful with beer/drink recommendations as well as the best food selections. Basically the menu is comprised of burgers wings and pizza. Prices were good. I had an all meat pizza which was good and my wife had the burger and fries. The burger was cooked correctly but the bun was dried out and hard. The fries were very good. Cannot say anything about the cleanliness of the place and did not look that closely. Overall we were satisfied with the place but as I said it was basically the only choice we had hence 3 stars. read more

Stay far away. Our experience here was unimpressive. The bartender was unfriendly. The food was mediocre. About the only positive was there was outdoor seating. My vegetarian son was completely out of luck. If the food can't be heated up from frozen they don't have it. Funny thing is there are all these signs - clearly for tourists - to come eat at the place. But then when you get there the staff makes it very clear you're not welcome. Just a bit confusing. Bartender used the exact same line on me that a previous review had: "This is a whisky bar. You're looking for a Burger King!" Actually a Burger King would have been an improvement. read more

We stopped here because we were starving and there was almost nothing else around. We were the only customers at around 11:15 am on a Saturday and Lulu, the owner's sister waited on us at the bar. She was a bit surly at the beginning but I smiled at her once and her face lit up. She had amazing, hilarious stories for us and even though she was slightly grumpy about making us a half and half pizza she still gave me a secret wink about it. The pizza was really good and she said she makes them from scratch. More customers started coming in and she got busy so we were sad we couldn't talk more with her over a couple of drinks. Now, this isn't some fancy restaurant; this is bar food. However, it is prepared very well. We had the buffalo burgers and they were better than average. I would have to say the best burger in town.
