Very good pizza place in Hill City. Friendly service and looks to be family owned. The pizza choices are interesting and look to be fire roasted but they are calling Napolitana style. Very good and the cheese breadsticks were very good. They were out of a beer we wanted to try which was Smirnoff Pink - must be popular! Changing this to a 3 star. We ordered to-go around 4:45pm on a weekday and it was ready by 5:15pm. The pick up was quick and easy and they accept credit card. We ordered four large pizzas and three servings of the large strawberry field salad. The margarita pizza was popular along with the Hawaiian. The crust is chewy and reminiscent of a good New York style pizza. The meat added to the pizza and toppings were generous and filling. It was about $25-30 a pizza and $15 for salads. The strawberry salad was a hit and included strawberries, apples, and pecans. Good pricing for the area, especially the quality. It fed 12 people easily. Absolutely would come back! read more

Stopped in for a late lunch. Seated quickly as it wasn't very crowded. Probably the time of day. Resturant was clean and inviting. We ordered a side salad and a large pepperoni and sausage pizza. Quite good pizzeria within Hays, SD. Upon arrival was immediately escorted to any table of choice by our waiter. Drinks (beer & wine only) were provided pronto and in chilled ice glasses as a nice touch. Ordered the neopolian style with sausage and pepperoni with outstanding meat spice and flavor however the mozzarella cheeze was a little overbearing and missing sufficient tomato sauce to my liking. We had an amazing hike in Custer and knew pizza would hit the spot. Pizzeria Mangiamo did not disappoint. We started with a side salad. The greens were crisp and fresh and the dressing tasted homemade which is always delicious. The wood fired pizza was so good, perfect crust! We had a small Big Kulha and it was just right for the two of us. Our waiter was attentive and pleasant. My only complaint would be that we had to wait so long to be seated when the restaurant was completely open. Idk maybe it was a shift change or something. I would like to give this place a higher rating for the service as the bartender was super friendly and helpful but the rating is based on our full experience. On a Saturday night the dinner wait was 25 minutes so we decided to place a to go order. The front desk removed our reservation because we didn't want to wait but told us we needed to go to the bar to place our order. Odd practice but ok. The craft beer was good as we waited for our food but the bar didn't have any chairs. There was a bench seat in the bar area we could have sat down if we wanted to though, odd. We ordered a specialty pizza and it was just ok, nothing special. It was a brick oven roasted pizza so the crust was good but I prefer a good spicy sauce and that was not there. This is one of the better places to eat in Hill City, especially if you're tired of burgers and regular bar food. We were here for a week night dinner and ordered a large Meat Mafia pizza to split. The pizza was great, better than we expected. We took the extra back to our hotel and ate that the next day. If you don't have a refrigerator, a medium would work better for two.
