Sometimes I finish eating, and I immediately think the Yelp rating for a place is too high or too low. Bagel Bros's rating is too low, and the biggest driver of that seems to be a surprising number of 1 Star reviews from people who didn't post any pics and who don't post many CT business reviews. In any event, during my visit, I saw a steady stream of enthusiastic customers, plenty of bagels and efficient and friendly service. My family enjoyed the bagels we've had so far. This includes an everything bagel with green onion cream cheese and a special cherry vanilla bagel with cherry almond cream cheese. These are New York Style Bagels that are denser and chewier than some of the popular CT Bagel Shops, which have very well executed bagel shaped bread that is softer. I enjoy that style as well, but the Bagel Bros. take is more traditional. The textures were good, the flavors were on point and the cherry almond cream cheese looked cool. 4.5 Stars. I would encourage readers to pay more attention to the recent reviews of Yelp Elite Members and other users who posted pics. Those reviews are more consistent with my experience.

This place just knows how to appropriately push the boundaries in terms of creatively crafting a breakfast bagel that you would never even think of; all of the sandwich items are so cohesive that even reading a description simply makes you want to leave with one more bagel than you intended on getting! I recommend the Shelton.. it's popular for a REASON (actually a couple reasons, sandwiched in between an everything bagel) Who thought of adding a hashbrown to the bagel sandwiches?! They need a raise! More of an in and out place, no seating inside! COFFEE BAR WAS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!

Love me some bagels!

Upon entering we were immediately greeted, informed there were weekly specials and whenever we were ready to come up. This helps tremendously when trying to figure out who's waiting to order or pick up. The Top G was delicious and loved the Turkey bacon. Can't wait to try their cream cheese next. Inside it's an order and go, hopefully in the summer set out a few chairs and tables outside. It was super clean and a good selection of coffee. Smelled so good walking in!

These bagels were absolutely delicious! It is such a pleasure to have New York style bagels brought to Connecticut done right. The bagels had a nice crunch on the outside and were warm and fluffy on the inside. Their menu was quite large and had plenty of gourmet bagel sandwich options to choose from as well as cream cheese flavors. I cannot wait to go back and try more! My mom tried the classic bacon, egg, and cheese on a plain bagel and I opted for the Philly melt on the bagel of the day which was the scallion. Both sandwiches were delicious and overflowing with toppings. The meat on the Philly melt was juicy and so flavorful. I was in a food coma state of happiness after my last bite.

Bagel w cream cheese.

I stopped by this place not too long ago ad I was hungry and needed to eat something quick for breakfast, found this place on the road, stopped by and must say I was pleasantly surprised. The service was quick, the place was clean and nice inside. I got a simple bagel w cream cheese, and was not disappointed, bagels were on the huge side and they did not skimp on the cream cheese. Bagels were toasty on the outside and soft on the inside. I like the bagels that you can bite through and are not so solid that is like eating rubber. Can't have an opinion on other types of sandwiches, but for me, it did the job.

Hot Pastrami sandwich on an Everything Bagel

Stopped by Shelton's newest bagel shop! The Bagel Bros offer a variety fresh and delicious NY style bagels and an assortment of spreads and cream cheeses to compliment. They also offer coffee, muffins, donuts, and catering. Each week they feature a creative specialty bagel. While there I indulged in their Hot Pastrami breakfast bagel sandwich. It came with hot Boars Head pastrami, fried egg, sautéed red onions, and cheese sandwiched between a hand rolled everything bagel. It was very good! I also got a raisin bagel and an onion bagel for my next breakfast...lol The employees were very nice and welcoming. The bagel shop is more of a quick meal on the run stop as there are no seats available. I definitely recommend stopping by!

Garlic bagel with scallion cream cheese

My mom and I stopped by to check out the newly opened Bagel Bros! We were very happy with our garlic bagel with scallion cream cheese and avocado melt. While we were waiting for our food, we decided to get a couple chocolate chip bagels and pastries but we couldn't resist after looking at them! The staff was friendly, and they balanced the volume of their orders well! I was glad that we lived only a few minutes away because we hadn't realized it was take-out only, but maybe when the weather gets warmer they'll have some tables set up outside. Definitely a great addition to Shelton!

Turkey bacon with a nice schmear of veggie cream cheese on a cheddar bagel

Great new addition to this part of Shelton! I love that they're open on a Sunday and Monday, especially as other establishments of this category are not. The Shelton is a great sandwich. The bacon is turkey bacon - nice touch. Great hefty schmear of cream cheese. Bagels are fluffy. Staff is friendly. Coffee is self serve Omar's off to the side - make it how you like it. No seats or tables inside, come in to grab your stuff and go. Place seems clean every time I stop by. Location is great for a quick stop in - plenty of parking.

Had the Shelton. This was a very good breakfast sandwich. Can't wait to go back and try something new.

Bacon, egg, cheese, and Hashbrown on an egg everything bagel.

Okay. I grew up in the valley and now live about 20 minutes from the NY line. I've had the best and worst of all bagels. I made the 45 minute trip to give this place a try. DID NOT DISAPPOINT! I ordered a few things so my husband and I could try. The bagels are perfect..crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside and the flavors were on point. My bacon egg and cheese had so much bacon on it and the egg was cooked perfectly. The scallion cream cheese on the other bagel was also so yummy. It helps that the staff was super sweet and was offering me a whole bunch of suggestions on things to get because I told them I wanted to try it all. The only issue is now I'll want to drive 45 minutes for one of these bagels. Definitely giving top 10 places to get a bagel vibes. Best of luck guys! You're killing it!

ORIGIN: Popup Bagels was founded by Adam Goldberg during the…read moreheight of the pandemic, when Goldberg explored bread baking. Initially sharing with friends and family, the Connecticut resident started selling via popups and pickups in New York and Connecticut. You would think New York already had a good source of bagels, but after its first stand-alone location opened in 2021, momentum developed and other storefronts were initiated in New York, Massachusetts, and Connecticut. LOCATION: This Popup Bagels is located in a shopping plaza in suburban Newtown, Connecticut. CONCEPT: Compared to other bagel shops, Popup Bagels a limited number of bagel flavors (plain, salt, everything, poppy, sesame) and tubs of weekly-changing flavors of butter and cream cheese (such as martini cream cheese and lemon butter) in addition to those regularly available (such as scallion cream cheese). Sandwiches are not prepared for customers -- they are encouraged to "grip, rip, and dip" bagels into their chosen Schmear. ATMOSPHERE: The interior is crisply designed with a modern feel. SERVICE: From an investment perspective, the concept is brilliantly efficient. Limited hours (7-noon Wednesday and Thursday, 7-1 Friday, Saturday, and Sunday), limited choices, no sandwich/beverage prep, and online ordering encouraged, make the service efficient from both effort and material perspective. FOOD: Compared to other bagel shops the bagels are attractively packaged with open totes, inviting the aroma of the bagels to greet the customer. The exterior is covered by the topping, rather than sprinkled. The bagel is crisp and chewy on the exterior, but fluffy in the interior. In addition, tubs of smoked fish-based spreads are available. TIPS: The chain is expanding into Southern California. On Thursdays Schmear flavors change. The flavors are announced on Popup Bagels website. Although pre-orders are welcomed to ensure your pick, the online system does demand a minimum of a dozen are purchased. Ordering in person allows a three bagel minimum. The company recommends running water over the bagels, and placing in a preheated 350 degree oven for six minutes to crisp the exterior. Note the shop closes at noon on weekdays, 1 o'clock on weekends.

We've heard so much hype about PopUp, so we drove down to Newtown to pick up a half dozen. Super…read morequick, but we wish the guy behind the counter had been a bit friendlier. The bagels were warm, crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and the scallion cream cheese "schmear" was tasty. I liked the rip and dip idea. We would put them in our top 5 in CT! We'll be back to try more of their schmear specials!
