Poppy seed bagel? With cream cheese. Not what I ordered but still good. Make sure to check your order before you leave.

There are bagels and cream cheese are really delicious. But unfortunately, I would not recommend coming here. As much as I love their bagels, the service is really slow. Definitely not a place to come if you're in a rush. Today I ordered a plain bagel with cream cheese and was given the wrong kind of bagel. It also took around 10 minutes to get my order. I thought maybe they forgot my order, but there were several people waiting, including one person who was in line right before me for quite a while. I know they sell their bagels to a few places in town. Definitely great quality bagels, but not so great service.

Bagel Cafe is a staple in Isla Vista! This was such a great spot to go in college the next morning after a late night. You can pretty much always guarantee there will be people dining here and everything is made fresh to order. I love their selection of bagel options. The Eggle Plus tends to be my go to. Such a good spot and they even make lunch options, in the event you go after breakfast.

Bagel Cafe is an Isla Vista classic that never disappoints! I have been. couple times and am surprised that I have yet to leave a review! I try something different each time I go, but I would have to say one of my go-to orders is a toasted garlic bagel with chipotle smear! SO GOOD! Service is super quick and the people working are always so helpful. The Emma and a classic BLT of pesto bagel always hit the spot too. A chill, laid back spot to hit the get your day started or for an afternoon pick me up!

Delicious and truly one of the best bagel places! Ordered the usual Irish Special with jalapeño cream cheese on a herb cheese bagel. Such a nice soft fresh bagel. Been here a few times with my college kiddo and it never disappoints.

I went to school here 11 years ago so I'm biased, but this place has the most delicious bagel sandwich combinations I have EVER had. Whenever I come back to Santa Barbara I make sure to stop by. Most recently I came for my bachelorette party - my girls and I went two days in a row and even picked some up to take home. Prepare to wait 20+ min on busy days (and for their popular melted sandwiches) but it's worth it. My tip is to get your coffee somewhere else.

Quality yummy goodness provided by an amazing family who understands that it's not just about running a business, it's about the folx and community they serve. Integrity and quality are often brushed aside when there is a profit to be made. But, the owners of The Bagel Cafe have been feeding the SB and IV community for decades and continues to hold high their standards. I can't wait to get back there and order up an Eggle Plus with bacon and cheddar! Check out their Throwback letter to the community! https://spoton-prod-websites-user-assets.s3.amazonaws.com/static/uploads/files/LjMbp8DiQim3x1UXRppQ_Throwback%20Price%20Letter%20to%20Customers.pdf

Every time I'm in Santa Barbara I have to stop by at bagel cafe. It's a hole in the wall place nothing fancy but they have amazing bagels. I love how the menu is so big it has a huge variety of different kinds of bagels. There is something for everyone on the menu. I also love how they have weekly specials. I think I went on a Thursday and it was lox day. I've tried different kinds of bagels but my top two is the taxi driver and the cream cheese tomato. Service is great and so are the prices.

Maybe more a 3.5** grab and go spot with some outdoor seating. pretty good bagels but I'm used to something a little fluffier to contrast with the crispy outside. these are a little on the flatter side. i got chive cream cheese on a galaxy bagel and it was pretty good but i didn't taste too much of the chive. the tomatoes are really fresh though & the pepper on top is chefs kiss. my sister who actually lives here gets tbe earth wind and fire bagel on a jalapeño bagel and i tried some of hers and it was really good - perf if you like spice and i think it wld be a pretty effective hangover cure. she says she can always use more sriracha on it! it gets busy here so get here early to beat the line!

iv bagel slays boots the house down. absolutely wonderful prices, great hazelnut coffee. employees are all baddies. taxi driver melt is the best hangover cure in iv.

    so many good bagels!

Ask the Community - Bagel Cafe

Are the bagels vegan (not made with egg or milk?

All the bagels are Vegan with the exception of the Herb Cheese and the Pesto Parmesan

What type of Sprouts do they use?

    Is this their only location?

Yea this is the original and only location, they do deliver bagels to other bakeries such as Anna's, Old Town Coffee, the lighthouse cafes, Dean l, both Lighthouse locations, Java Station, and the Roasting Company to name a few

Do they make the bagels fresh in-house?

    Yes, great, fresh bagels.

    Any gluten free bagels?

No unfortunately not. The place is so tiny and limited in space it is next to impossible to prevent any cross contamination therefor they do not make Gluten Free bagels

These desserts are works of art, AND taste delicious! This is a cute and small restaurant and take-away pastry shop. About 6 tables and a counter to sit/stand at. We were there on a Friday mid morning and they were packed. However they have several food runners and support staff to turn the tables fairly quickly. We waited in line for about 5 minutes to order at the counter as you enter so a line is not unusual, especially peak days and times. We purchased 5 different desserts, the peanut butter crunch was my favorite. The tiramisu was my least favorite...but still delicious. The coffee flavor of the tiramisu tasted fake so Alessia should work on her recipe if she wants a better tiramisu dessert...or just change the name so it reduces the expectation. I attached a photo so you can see the talent of the pastry chefs that Alessia has gathered and trained at this Santa Barbara patisserie. Definitely a must stop and try it.

We chose to eat here and were seated inside the cafe. The breakfast menu isn't too large, but offers a variety of different eats such as omelettes, quiche, croque monsieur, sandwiches, hash, crepes, french toast, granola bowl, toasts, or salmon board. The lunch menu has a few of the same items as breakfast with the addition of salads and sandwiches. // FOOD // BREAKFAST SANDWICH: Brioche bread, bacon, sautéed mushrooms, tomato, gruyere, onion jam, garlic aioli, fried egg. One of the best breakfast sandwiches I've ever had! If I lived close to Alessia I would probably get this a couple of times a week. Thick cut brioche toasted to perfection, the onion jam and sautéed mushrooms were so flavorful, nice salt from the bacon and creaminess from the gruyere and garlic aioli, all topped with the runny fried egg. 5/5 DUCK CONFIT HASH: Crispy potato, hollandaise, pickled fresno chile, cilantro, poached egg. The potatoes were crisp and the poached egg was delicious. The duck was a little on the gamier side, but I didn't mind it. 3.5/5 Overall, I thought Alessia Patisserie & Cafe was a great spot to stop by for breakfast, lunch, or just to try some pastries. I ordered a few different pastries for the road such as the pistachio croissant, ham & cheese croissant, and a "French Onion" soup danish. All of them were so buttery, flaky, and delicious! I can't wait to come back here.

The coffee, however, took quite a while to arrive. We had already finished our pastries and our table was cleared before it finally came out. I went back to grab a few more pastries, and while I was away, a gnat flew into my coffee. I brought it back to the register, and they graciously replaced it without any issue.
