Last Sunday I had to use Bagel Chateau because Manhattan had oven issues. Early 6 am. I drive up to Chateau to see if they were open yet. Lights on. Sign in the window OPEN. The door was locked. I knock on the door. 3 guys inside. They look at me and turn away. I knocked again. Same thing. Nothing. I knock again. Then this guy comes from the back and opens the door. He doesn't let me in, he starts yelling at me." We open at 6. Why are you banging on the door. Who the hell do you think you are." On and on. I point to the OPEN. He doesn't care. Customer service at its best. Bagel Chateau over many years, even when they were in town, were rude , mixed with nasty. The place is always dirty. The help doesn't care . Consistency! For a person that orders the same thing ever time, consistency is a big deal. Clean, decent prices, and even when it's busy, their service is on point. We have tried other places, but always come back to bagel chateau. I get the tailor ham, egg and cheese on a whole wheat bagel. Muffins are delicious too. read more

Been going here for years. The bagels are good, not great, and its pretty hard to screw up eggs/bacon/pork roll etc.... but this morning I realized they sneak in a 4% "transaction charge" on your total including tax! Really?! Great place with the best fried potatoes. Mish mosh bagels are fantastic. Nice crowd there every morning. Coffee is tasty and the bacon cheese omelette is better than most diners for a better price and the fried potatoes are the best I found in long long time. I cherish the hard working folks give my little girls a mini bagel on the house from time to time with a smile and a nice comment. I didn't get that at manhattan bagel. All jokes aside, this is the best breakfast/lunch place in the tristate area. Nay. The United States. The white meat chicken salad doesn't have celery (huge plus, hate celery) it is my go to. On a toasted salt bagel. Also, scallion cream cheese is so good. They have strawberry nesquik milk so you don't need to worry about what you'll be drinking. The restaurant is small, and the line looks long always, but fear not... it moves quickly due to the tireless effort of the staff. Which brings me to my next point. The staff is THE nicest staff I've ever come across. Quick shout out to Carlos and Jack. Those two guys will joke with you and have your food ready before you know it. They are amazing. Jack is Russian though... Don't be intimidated by his Russian accent, he's a softy at heart. Highly recommend 5 out of 5 stars. read more

This place has by far, the worst customer service. I order from all the bagel shops around my town and this place does nothing but disappoint me. The lady who answers the phone is never polite & has nothing but a bad attitude. Every time I call and order, you need to repeat it about five times just so they get it right. The last time I ordered was the worst. I called in a huge order & not only were they late & mess up about three of my coworkers lunch, but when they brought what they messed up on, we had to pay AGAIN. Despite the upscale sounding name if this place, I was pretty underwhelmed with the quality of bagel. I got a blueberry bagel & by no means could I tell that it was made fresh this morning. They also throw in things like chips & a pickle and while most of the time I appreciate free food, it definitely didn't go with my order & it felt like they tried to add extra food to compensate for a mediocre bagel... which is why I went out of my way to go to a bagel spot in the first place. read more

These are definitely not the best bagels I have had in my life. Never ask for a toasted bagel because you will recieve it burnt, which I have experienced on multiple occasions. The bagels do not taste good and are not very soft. Other than that, the atmosphere is very nice and the homefries are very good. But for bagels I would go somewhere else. read more

This used to be THE go-to bagel place in the area, but it seems like they've got a bunch of new staff and they are terrible. It used to be that they got 90% of the order right; we accepted the 10% wrong because the food is great and the mistakes were generally because they were overwhelmed with customers. Now you're lucky if they get anything right - cream cheese instead of butter, forgetting to toast the bagel, eggshells in the omelets, etc, etc. My advice is make your order super clear to them and then watch them like a hawk. Horrible! The customer service is horrible, Not one person who works there is friendly. A week ago I got a egg sandwich and it was cold and not tasty. I decided to try the bagels and give them another chance but the bagels are hard and cold. This is understandable at 12 pm not 8 am. And what bagel place gives you potato chips at 8 am? He could've asked if I want a different side! The bagel was so bad I couldn't even finish it. This could have been my breakfast before work because it is so close to my job, but no way! I live 30 minutes away and drive here just to get a bagel. They're so good at what they do. I ALWAYS get a Taylor ham, egg and cheese on an everything bagel. It usually comes with a pickle. The food is good here but the surcharge on bagels on the weekend is absolutely absurd. $7.99 on weekdays and $10.80 on weekends. Whoever heard of anything so ridiculous. We recently moved to this area and were in search of good bagels until we came across Bagel Chateau. The bagels are very good especially the everything bagel as well as the bialy's. The lox cream cheese is outstanding. The crumb cake slices are excellent. They are very organized and although the lines almost reach the door on some weekend mornings, it goes quickly. This past weekend's review -- things have gotten worse. The food quality is still good to great but the service is horrifying. Now the rudest and snottiest customers are in charge. The owners of this place either need to grow a pair or pass the business along to someone that isn't them. As I approach 50, I'm currently 48, I really don't need to some embittered hag yelling at me because after all of these years at this tiny location they suddenly decided to change how things are done. The hag wasn't an employee just a rude customer. The worst part is that the employees attitude is "Oh Well." Here's a thought, why not hang up a sign saying that in order to placate the self-entitled JERKS, we need to bring customer service to a screeching halt. Pity, now I have to look for a new bagel place, I've been going to Bagel Chateau since 1987, I remember when they moved to their current location. How sad. read more
