Terribly rude staff which had the audacity to accuse my husband of lying about an item of food (a blueberry muffin) we paid for and didn't receive which we then had to travel 12+ miles round trip to get it. Please retrain your front store staff on how to communicate in a professional way! This was an extremely poor experience this morning and my family won't return again. I've been going to Bagel Express for years off and on. There is nothing better than an eraly morning cup of joe and an outrageously awesome bagel. There is no place to get a more authentic tasting bagel without some expensive airfare to get there. My preference is for an ET bagel with Garlic and Herb cream cheese, or Lox cream cheese. You can't beat the flavor that Bagel Express serves, especially from any chain place. My significant other like the egg and cheese on a bagel of various combinations. I want to give this place 5 stars (which would be a first for me), but there are two things keeping me from that. 1. Barry (The owner) is a pompous jerk with very brash and underdeveloped social skills, or perhaps this is just how an authentic New York peronsality is perceived here ;) 2. You got to love it/appreciate it. I was told that they had the best bagels in the city. After trying one, I must say, I do agree. The texture and the flavor is like no other bagel I've ever tried. I come here often to get the bagels and they are really good. Customer service isn't great but I overlook it because some people do not know any better. "When they go low, we go high" However today, my daughter and I came to get sandwiches for lunch and the CUSTOMER SERVICE was TERRIBLE!!! As I proceeded to place my order the lady/cashier told me they didn't have the bagel bread so I switched to the wheat bread. She comes out maybe 3 to 5 minutes later to tell me she only has "one bread" so I canceled my order for one sandwich and kept the other. She rolled her eyes and walked away. The entire time the cashier had a terrible attitude! When I received my receipt I realized that I was charged a completely different price for the club sandwich then what is listed on the board. I just took my refund for the club sandwich that I canceled and left after receiving the other sandwich. We ordered the turkey sandwich and it looks as though she just threw some meat cheese and lettuce on a piece of old bread. I will never return to this place for their sandwiches! read more

Love the place. Used to push my kids in strollers when this placed opened. Barry was very accommodating and would give them dough to play with. The bagels are fantastic. Love the little crunch from the cornmeal bottom. They're as good as anything I've had in NY. When I need the deli fix, I get hot pastrami on a rye bagel. The bagel-bread French toast is good too. Wish they took credit cards, but am not holding my breath. Won't deter me though. read more
