Should have checked review first.. I don't recall this place being like this. Has there been a change in ownership or management? This was my $7 bagel with lox spread. Not lox... lox spread. It's more than other flavored spreads, understandable. But, was shocked at the tad I was given. When asked to confirm, the guy quickly affirmed, "yup, that's the amount..." I would have been at least concerned a customer immediately questioned the finished product. But, this is what they ride on.. so, now I know and we all have choices. I'll choose to not going forward. Fresh tasty bagels for a good price - one of my favorite places to go for a morning carb fix! The little people in my life love the chocolate chip bagels. I'm a sesame or cheese bagel gal. The jalapeno bagel with cheese is crazy good but really spicier than I can handle on its own. I need cream cheese for this and then it's perfect. Cinnamon rolls are weak! Big, but burnt, hard and the glaze icing is very less then. Too bad.

Some might say, "a bagel is a bagel" but that is definitely not the case. Here I tried a sesame bagel toasted with honey butter, and when I pulled it out it was a wet, dripping with melted butter bagel, to the point of being almost inedible --just not a good rendition. Maybe honey cream cheese would be better than honey butter, but the amount of butter was over applied, and downright slippery. It's not something you'd find in a place that knows their bagels. Good should you need a fast carb fix, but please stretch out and peruse the world of even more delicious bagels when you get the chance. read more

Horrible horrible experience. First off they way over charge for a Lox bagel. If you love Lox bagels (who doesn't?!?) then do yourself a favor and buy one elsewhere because hear they charge 13.50 for basic, onion, tomato, cream cheese and then upcharge a dollar for lettuce and Capers! Isn't capers a standard ingredient on a Lox bagel? Then I specifically asked for sun dried tomato cream cheese and I get to work to eat it and it's plain cream cheese. If I could put less than one star I would. This review is not based on the bagels it is based on the quality of the customer service of which Tommy Tren doesn't seem to have any experience with. I used a wonderful app called Too Good To Go which has worked successfully with many restaurants world wide. It helps restaurants to not throw away food and gives a good price for the customer. However, when I showed up to pick up my order after driving a half hour and parking, Bagel Street Cafe was closed. Needless to say I was confused and disappointed, the app "Too Good to Go" refunded my money when I told them what happened. Later when I spoke with " Tommy" the manager/owner? he said that basically if he runs out of bagels then too bad for me... he doesn't make any money on the deal and that's how the app works. He sounded irritated with me that I had a complaint. Actually, that's not how the app works and I suggested he either take himself off of the app or check how it works. He said he only had one other complaint about this so it wasn't a high priority. He should have said, sorry you drove all the way, I will check into this app and see how it works so this doesn't happen to someone else or we will not use the app since it doesn't pay us to do so, and by the way come by again for one of our bagels to see how good they taste. This guy was so bad even my husband tried to nicely suggest better business practices but he just told him that it was fine for me to write a scathing review. I know there are more important issues going on now than bagels but this guy needs to NOT be in a business that involves making people happy because he gets no satisfaction from it. I order my bagels via DoorDash so I have nothing in particular to add about the customer service other than I got my dozen bagels and cream cheese within a very reasonable time frame. The bagels tasted delicious and fresh. I got chocolate chip, everything, jalapeño, and cheese bagels. They were all great. The jalapeño cream cheese had a good amount of spiciness to it! My only complaint is that the cheese bagel simply comes with a slice of cheese cooked on top of it. It's kind of tricky to put this in a toaster and I don't own a toaster oven. I think cooking the cheese inside of the bagel dough or maybe baking some shredded cheese on top instead of a slice would probably remedy this. It was still yummy though. read more

The cafe looks promising; it is clean, has a good variety of nice looking bagels and an extensive menu. BUT..... There is no one else in the store, so I call my wife to tell her the options that she has for her bagel sandwich. She has a question about an add on item, I pause and ask the guy behind the counter the question and then provided her with the answer, then place the order. He looks at me and says, "You're rude and the answer to your question is on the board." I asked, "I'm rude?" He answered, "Yea, you are talking on the phone and ordering." I start to explain myself and stop, he knows why I am on the phone, I don't have to explain myself. The food is FANTASTIC. The customer service is very poor. There's a lady that has such a bad temper. She's ready to fight the customers if they decide to add an extra bagel. This is our Family's favorite bagel spot. You know you have to go before 2pm to get them fresh and esp. your favorites~ even if it's plain. I love getting a half dozen for home and my kids and I get toasted variations with cream cheese and cumbers or just buttered. So satisfying to have a bagel sandwich if you are busy running around. There are a couple brothers running the place and the dad or uncle who makes the banana, zucchini and pumpkin bread at the cash register. SO good if you don't have time to make it yourself. Just as it was beginning to improve I was let down again. My order was missing two bagels. At 23 bucks for six bagels I'd expect them to get it right. I'm not even getting bagels for me. There are specific varieties to suit everyone's need for a good reason. When I select four Jalapeño bagels, you don't pull the four from the counter and only provide three. It's not that hard. I'm not sure what's going on with the staff but I may need to go to the farther San Rafael location once again. Whoever helped me this morning served me skimpy and soggy bagels and was extremely rude and insulting when I brought it to his attention. So disappointed. I wish I took a picture of the skimpy, soggy bagels. I understand small businesses have it tough, still there was no reason to insult a loyal customer for not being satisfied with their purchase. I'll confidently give three BSC locations (SR/Northgate, SR/Montecito and SJ/near Airport) five stars, since I've frequented all of these over the past dozen or so years. This is a tight family-run business where I can always count on consistent quality, good value and friendly service (even when things get hectic). It's also a franchise I've tried to keep visiting even during the COVID era, as they've no doubt been adversely affected by fewer commuters and few students (particularly near SR High School). I'm partial to their Jalapeno and Cheddar bagels, while my wife - who is from Canada and raised on Kettleman's bagels - won't eat any other bagel in the US other than BSC's Sesame bagels. The shmears are just right - we're partial to the scallion - and there is a large flavor selection to choose from. Note that, like other food businesses, they have to estimate how many bagels to make on a given day, which even with their experience (and 20+ locations overall), means that they'll have a lot of leftovers some days, and will run short of some flavors on others. I've never not found a bagel I like, even later in the AM or early afternoon, but I've seen and heard some criticism about lousy selection. This is exacerbated during COVID - it's simply becoming harder to predict what to produce. But I've not experienced, personally, a dropoff, and we'll always return to BSC as long as they keep cranking out what we feel is the best bagel around, with friendly faces and a tireless work ethic across all locations. EXTRA: Eggwich breakfasts always fill me up, and I love the sausage version. Also try the bagel dogs - they're large, and terrific. Ive been going to this bagel cafe for years now and every time I go in the young latina lady has been super rude. She does not even greet customers as they walk in and just stares at us in an intimidating way as we are thinking about what to order. I let her know that I want a plain poppy bagel with cream cheese. Idk if it's because she is so short to even reach the counter to hear the orders or it's because she is always in a rush. It wasn't even busy and when I go to buy I just see a cold plain bagel with absolutely nothing in a bag. I let her know that I wanted cream cheese on it and she proceeded to speak to me in a very rude and loud tone. I let her know that I said I wanted cream cheese and she kept speaking over me in a rude matter. She kept trying to explain the menu to me as if i'm an idiot? All the attitude just for adding cream cheese? She made a very big scene and people in the cafe started looking over. It got to the point where people in the store came and let me know that what she did was wrong and even called her a Karen . I personally work in a restaurant as a cashier and I would never treat a customer like that especially for the little thing I asked her. I have always liked bagel street and I give a 10/10 to the other latino working there and the 2 other guys there but for her a 0.
