Cheddar jalapeño bagel with egg and cheese sandwich.
    Brenda C.

In a strip mall, Princeton Meadows Shopping center, on the corner end, there is a hidden gem called Bagel Street Grill. Upon walking in, you will note a photo of Guy Fieri from Food Network's show called "Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. To be honest, I did not know who he was until I looked him up and had to agree with his assessment. This place has the best bagels, particularly, Cheddar jalapeno bagel, around. On my first visit, I ordered a Cheddar jalapeno bagel with egg and cheese as a sandwich. It was really good! The kick from the jalapeno perfectly complemented the freshly made egg and cheese sandwich. I also brought a few Cheddar jalapeno bagels to carry home so that my family could enjoy them as well. It wasn't until I tasted this bagel alone, sans butter, or anything, that I could only say, "Hot dang, this is a great bagel!" Dare I say, their bagels rival the Brooklyn bagels I am used to. They are airy and light. The place honors charge, cash, and their service is fast if you are short on time. Their coffee is okay but let's face it, they are known for their bagels. They offer various breakfast items such as pancakes, omelets, lunch items which include sandwiches, wraps, salads, and soups. Perfect for breakfast and lunch and they have available indoor and outdoor seating. Just be sure to get there before 2:00 pm because that is when they close.

This was in a decent sized shopping complex that offered lots of options ranging from omelets to burgers to salads. We ate there and the food was ready quickly. I had a pork roll loaded burger ($9.95) and a side of fries ($3.50?). The burger was topped with tater tots and Russian dressing. It was served on a grilled jalapeno cheddar bagel. It came with a side of a pickle and coleslaw. They were both appetizing and the coleslaw was not too overdressed. The burger came out piping hot and took some time for it to cool down. They did not ask how I wanted the burger to be cooked as it came out to a medium well temperature, a little much for me. However, the combination of all the toppings really made up for it. There was plenty of pork roll and tater tots added. The Russian dressing was a nice touch and I should have added more. The bagel was tasty too, but just not a ton of jalapeno flavor. The fries were rather plain though. Will I go back? No doubt.

    Everything bagel with cream cheese

If you want a great NJ bagel, stop by Bagel Street Grill. They're a great bagel shop, no frills attached. Would recommend any of their bagels with just cream cheese or bagel sandwiches - the ham, egg, and cheese as well as the lox bagel are both delicious. Parking is super easy in the plaza.

Any husband knows the gut tightening that follows a strong-arming of his spouse to go somewhere he recommends, upon getting small signals that he just might be wrong. Wifey wanted a bagel but didn't want to drive the 6 miles to our favorite and reliable place. I had a brainstorm: I recalled the bustling place in Plainsboro from our soccer mom years, the Bagel Street Grill. Yes, the line was usually to the door, the food was a little pricey, but the portions were generous and the quality high. They were still in business and open. And much closer. The gut tightened upon seeing only a few vehicles in the lot on a Saturday morning - prime time for a bagel place. It tightened further upon seeing a choice of tables and no customer line. The replay in my mind has me taking wife by the arm at that moment and returning to the car. To be fair, I guess it's possible that our young counter server may have been sleep deprived, highly medicated, or the result of a campaign to employ the cognitively disabled. But I think she was just unhappy to be there and too lazy to fake a smile, say thank you or even open her heavy eyelids beyond midpoint. Two toasted bagels with cream cheese, a few bagels to take home and a coffee was $17. Ok no shock there. From Oxford: TOASTED-- "adjective, cook or brown (food, especially bread or cheese) by exposure to a grill, fire, or other source of radiant heat." I imagine that Bagel Street must have changed hands since I last visited, further imagine the new owners to speak English as a secondary language, and further imagine they've posted this definition in the work area, with the word "exposure" in bold font and double underlined. For our 'toasted' bagels were warm to the touch, but just beyond room temperature, and soft and pale as a baby's butt in Stockholm. Also striking was the thickness of these things. I could cut one of them into four slices with a mediocre knife. (hmmm maybe the shops toaster slots are too narrow so they are precluded from toasting the traditional way). For me, no biggie. Fresh bagels can be good too when I'm in the mood. In a split second I tried to force myself into that mood rather than complain. Wifey was already complaining to me. She expected some - even slight - degree of crunch. Well whatever. But one cannot deny that the thicker the bun, bread or bagel, the greater the risk that bread dominates contents. Here too the The Bagel Street food preparers must be following the "exposure" principle. 'Exposure' to cream cheese and not a microgram more. See pictures. Now I'm on board with my wife. I am INSULTED by this skimpyness. Especially after paying fairly. (At the place thats 6 miles from home, the cream cheese layer is nearly as thick as one side of the bagel). I have no financial interest in the competitor, but there is one more contrast I must point out: The competitor also sells Asiago bagels (which is what wifey ordered). They look like well done cheese pizza, with bubbles of dried cheese all over the bagel top, yummy with even zero spread. The Bagel Street however ostensibly has an alternate methodology for Asiago bagels: take plan bagel, take a thin slice of Asiago - about 1/3 the bagel width, and lay it atop the closed bagel - like a racing stripe. People, this ain't the same Bagel Street. It is a street on which you will probably get robbed.

Average experience.. bagel was ok .. I wish it was more toasted. Coffee was not good at all :( was too thin .. almost like water . Great bagel and lots of cream cheese, both quality. Loved this for a brunch and their assortment of Naked juices is nice.

I think this place is definitely overhyped. Their breakfast sandwiches are mid at best. Definitely needs more flavor.

Definitely visit for amazing breakfast if you're in the area…read more We ordered a coffee, freshly squeezed orange juice, a Mexican omelette, avocado toast and waffles. Coffee was okay. Juice was really good. Omelette was great. It was a bit different, good different, from what we normally have at other places, couldn't exactly point out what but definitely to be tried. Avocado toast was amazing too. So were waffles. Overall, loved the food. Coffee can be better. They never came for coffee refills, so not sure if they do that. We saw the pictures online and thought to explore for its vibes but the vibe of being there doesn't get captured well in pictures. Can't stress enough. Service was very good. Decent amount of parking outside. Location is a bit weird as it's a residential neighborhood. Overall, definitely recommended.

The restaurant was not crowded, and our party of 6 was seated right away. The restaurant is tucked back in a neighborhood area, and has some private parking around the building. The decor is like that of a 1950s diner. The staff were friendly and accommodating. Our waiter appeared to be relatively new to the job, but he fulfilled all of our requests and was friendly. He would always get us a refill or more of something whenever we asked. We ordered a few starters of the Spinach and Artichoke Dip and the Mozzarella Sticks. Everyone in our party enjoyed both dishes! The dip portion was generous. We asked for additional chips to finish the dip off with and we were able to get them. Some of the various dishes we ordered are pictured - The Godfather, Turkey B.L.T. Deli Sandwich, Nachos Supreme, Tuna Salad Club, Sicilian Chicken Sandwich, Chicken Noodle Soup, and the Trio Salad Platter. I personally had the Trio Salad Platter, and really enjoyed it! It was a nice and refreshing lunch that was not too heavy. My favorite of the three was the tuna salad. We all sampled each other's dishes, and there was not one I did not like. The portions were large and very good for the price. I do believe the value is there with anything ordered from here. We definitely had leftovers to enjoy later! I enjoyed my visit to this restaurant! I would like to come back in the future to try their breakfast, and also more of the menu. I would recommend if you are looking for a nice spot to grab a bite with a small diner feel.
