Random bagel place off of route 1 next to Home Depot. Very quick service and cheap food. The bagels were huge, fresh and tasty. There is also lunch options, a seating area, and other deli like foods/desserts as well. I would rather get a bagel here than the Starbucks down the street. read more

There's not a lot of bagel breakfast places on route 1 so this had it going for it. Tucked in next to the Home Depot garden center, it's got an eclectic mix of random groceries and a bagel shop. Very basic menu. Bagels are larger than most places but the price also reflects that. $13 for 1 plain bagel, 1 everything bagel (both with cream cheese) and 2 small coffees. No toasting or anything special. The everything bagel is chewy and seasoned on both sides. It's heavy on the poppy and sesame with little garlic and no salt. Did NOT like the cream cheese. Tastes like it's diluted with butter. It leaves a buttery like taste instead. The coffee, like most bagel shops, tastes like hot bean water and isn't worth the over $2 for a small coffee. There's a discount if you pay with cash, so there's that. Service was fine, the "chef" that prepared the bagels was gruff and looked done for the day at 8am. We ordered 6 bagels and it took them about 10-20 mins overall. Not bad but could be quicker .. not much crowd when we went . There were 3-4 people waiting in the queue .. coffee was almost over . I should have waited for a new brew . The old one wasn't that good . I actually liked the bagels .. it was like a Manhattan style flat bagel . out of 6 - 3 bagels had good amount of cream cheese and the rest 3 had very less cream cheese . So dropped by here for brunch and to get lunch to go. I asked the person on the counter for a veggie cheese omelette and just asked if it came with anything or was it considered a breakfast platter. She then went into a rant about how extra eggs are added to the omelette when she could've just said this is not part of the special. People there seem to be on the edge/anxious. Anyhow ordered a chicken salad sandwich to go as well. This was supposed to come with chips and pickle. However, good thing I checked I only got a sandwich. A bit overpriced too as it was 9.99. I asked the person at the counter, who seemed new and didn't know what to do and was in the back trying to figure things out. Then another person came and helped. However, he gave me a small potato salad instead of chips, and offered no explanation. When I asked he said they ran out of the small bags of chips and delivery was in the afternoon.. they could've easily pulled out their big bag of chips and split that with the customers. I've been going to the Bagel Basket for as long as it has been open in this area! It's truly my favorite bagel place ever. Whether is a 7am bagel with cream cheese to go or sitting down in the cafe at 2pm with a breakfast sandwich it's the ideal place for either. The moment you walk in, there is this aroma of fresh bagels and cream cheese. My personal favorite growing up was the jalapeño bagel with jalapeño cream cheese. My current favorite I will say is the pumpernickel rye bagel with scallion cream cheese. The bagels are the perfect balance of chewy and fluffy and crispy. I recommend coming here on the earlier side as they sell out quickly of the popular bagels. read more

I went to Bagel Basket not for bagels, but rather to see what type of lunch options were available on a weekday. Unfortunately, lunch hour is simply a highly low traffic time at any given point. Bagel Basket just suffers from being in a low traffic commercial zone where flocks of people aren't really flocking from Home Depot to head over there... it's just a dead-ish area. Also, being tucked away from sight isn't great either. With that said, the lunch pickings were kinda bland. Most of the bagels were gone by this point. The veggie burger wasn't in stock, so I ended up settling for a grilled cheese sandwich with tomatoes. The sandwich was probably one of the more dull grilled cheeses I've had in a while (maybe my mistake?). I also made a mistake of buying a bag of chips when I came to realize the sandwich came with a little bit of coleslaw and a small bag of potato chips. Sigh - oh well. As for the bagels, I probably won't make it there in the future only because I have a bagel place closer to me that simply offers better bagels. If only this location was more vibrant... read more

The bagels here are big, and very fresh and flavorful. They have such a great texture and don't need toasting. Delicious cream cheese, too. The French toast was a thing of beauty, nice and thick and cooked perfectly. I've only had their lunch items a couple of times but both sandwiches I got were excellent. Imho, they fall a bit short in the pork roll, egg & cheese sandwich compared to others in the area but they're still pretty good when that craving hits. It's hit or miss depending on who's making your sandwich. I really love the friendly atmosphere! Owner Bobby is always behind the counter with a smile and friendly greeting. The customer service was great. I ordered bacon, egg & cheese on a plain bagel toasted with butter. Although the sandwich looked great, it had a weird aftertaste. The bagel did not taste authentic and became soggy immediately. The sandwich was expensive...over $6. The cost was more than the average bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich in Princeton, NJ. The ambiance was nice and clean. I love the large seating area. Would I try again?... No! As a native New Yorker, I am very picky about my bagels. I recently, Wednesday , went to pick up a dozen bagles. I arrived at 10:30 and there were very few bagles left. No plain,sesame or a number of other varieties. When I asked why so few bagles left the counter man says, what do you expect we've been open for 5 hours. When a bagles place is out of bagles before noon it tells me they have no idea what they are doing. I recommend finding a bagel deli that has it's act together. read more

The vegetable cream cheese had barely any vegetables so I was disappointed with that and then I found a red hair in it. If it was a small fuz I would let it slide but it was definitely a hair.
