A great little bagel and coffee shop in the heart of Main Street above the Courthouse and across from the classic Chamber building. A good selection, but not many of the jewish favorites like egg or pumpernickel. They are catering to the fat and sweet happy bageliers here but lots of seeded stuff too, with the core flavors in the middle row. Top is for kids, middle is the classic, bottom, is west coast style. Big bagels with big chew, almost New York but west coast bleeds in with adders like pesto and jalapeno. Bottom line - It's a very good bagel. Is Levy nervous? No. But why so, he doesn't even know how to find Placerville (Levy has no Google services). This is a true mountain town location and there is a nice amount of sophistication here for such an outpost. One of my favorites is the 3 seed, it is multi-grain, and a true original, as the innovation on that one can make things memorable for repeat customers. A dozen bagels here will set you back about $15. The locals love this place it's been here for a decade, or has it been decades now? Going to Sacramento is not necessary if you want a really good Bagel sandwich. Party up and enjoy your morning on the way to a trail or lake. A chewy sandwich awaits. But get there early, all the bagel options will be there for you. This is artisan and small and so things can run out. Enjoy the awesome patio, or the cozy interior. read more

I didn't have super high expectations for this bagel spot in the middle of a small town but we have been on a bagel sandwich kick recently so it sounded like a great idea. I liked that they had more options for bagel sandwiches than your typical ham, egg, and cheese. My husband ordered the Outlaw (bbq sauce, bacon, cream cheese) and I picked the Jalapeño Scramble, both on egg bagels. The Outlaw was really good and an unexpected winning combo! There was just enough bbq sauce without being too saucy and it was balanced out by the cream cheese. The jalapeño scramble was loaded. I loved the pickled jalapeño and it was just enough spice and acidity. The egg bagel itself was so fluffy and soft with a nice crisp on the outside, without being too toasted and hurting the roof of your mouth. I was pleasantly surprised at how good everything was here, and it was nice that they had outdoor tables so we could enjoy our bagels while they were warm! read more

Unfortunately, the bagel DOESN'T work. I came in hoping for fresh bagels for breakfast (about 8:30 am today), and they looked promising... but thr swiss and bacon bagel I just had was one of the dryest, most stale bagels I've ever had. Very disappointing... I guess maybe they expect people to toast the bagels, but shouldn't have to do that if they are fresh (this one must have been made days ago. It actually had the dense, dried out texture of a store-bought bagel that had been refrigerated or frozen and then thawed.) Fortunately, the croissants I got were soft and fluffy. I also ordered a "White Lightning" coffee... this is supposedly white chocolate, but didn't taste like it (tasted more like a berry flavor?) But at least it was sweet and caffeinated (and reasonably priced), and it helped me choke down the dry bagel. read more

Awesome "full lox". A good amount of cream cheese (not as much as I'd use, but probably a better move); capers, and surprisingly-high-quality fish. I had this one on the dog-friendly outside patio. Awesome jalapeño scramble (thought I hadn't read the menu carefully and was surprised by the McD-style breakfast sausage patty). I had this one, several hours cooled and slightly squished, on top of a mountain. So recently they changed carriers for the bagels an I'm not disappointed because they are always fresh. I do miss the real jalapeños on the top of a bagel but they now are infused in the bread. I always get a white mocha, use what carrier they use but it's literally the best in the county. I won't get my coffee ANYWHERE else in town! so grateful they have stayed open despite this years problems. read more

I am writing this because their biscuits and gravy, which they offer on weekends, deserves a five star review. Every so often I get a craving for biscuits and gravy so I have sampled this dish at several of the restaurants in El Dorado County, and this is positively the best. The biscuits seem very homemade and have a light and wonderful texture. The gravy has just the right amount of meat in it, and what adds a special taste is a hint of warmth - - not too spicy but just enough to make it perfect and just different enough. It's a cool generally quick grab n go bagel shop. I've dined in and, as of now, call in to go orders. It has a constant flow of clintelle, or at least always does when I've been. I only go in the morning hours though. We always grab bagel sandwiches. No complaints on those. I guess if I had a gripe, the bagel sandwiches could use some hummus or some sort of spread? And the person taking the phone orders needs to know what they have and don't have instead of just taking an order then, when I get there, telling me they are out of... whatever... The rudest workers behind the counter and the dryest bagel I've ever eaten. This place has really gone down hill in the years I've lived here. What a waste of money. Asked for a receipt, apparently they only give you handwritten receipts. The girl behind the counter called my name as she put the bag on the counter, I got up and put my hand on the bag, and she scolded me that she wasn't done filling the order! I gave them only 3 stars because there was no menu to look at until you got to the register. There's sandwich choices on the wall that say, for ingredients look at the menu. Sure there's a menu taped to the window outside but it was raining when I was went and didn't feel like standing in the rain to look at a menu. We've never been so we didn't know what we wanted to order. There was a line as well so there was pressure to make a decision quickly. We finally saw a menu at the register when we were standing in front of the cashier asking us what we wanted. Because we felt hurried we ordered the first thing we saw which wasn't great. Bagels are just okay. Nothing spectacular. Every time I have been in, they are lacking more than half of their selection. The store is dirty, chairs not pushed in, crumbs everywhere, the condiment bar filled with trash. This is an easy fix, if the employees would pay attention to their job and customers. I watched two girls eat continuous, stopping just to chew when customers came in, and just lean around doing nothing... hello!! There is a chunk of avocado on the floor and the place needs a good wipe down. UPDATE: decided to go in for a veggie bagel and it was like going into a different shop completely. This spot is a go too for breakfast for me. The food is always great and the staff is always upbeat and friendly. My most recent visit was no exception. There was a sign posted asking customers to be patient because all of the staff was new.
