Food: 3.8/5 I only order the poppy seed bagel and that's pretty tasty. Not to doughy although I do have them take out a good portion of the bread because I like it to be extremely thin. Service: 3 /5 Service needs major improvements , language barriers are also a major factor to consider as they do speak Spanish and their primary language. Ambiance: 3/5 Standard & basic bagel shop set up. Standing & waiting area is basic they have counter tops should you want to stand inside and eat nothing fancy. They do have a wide variety of drinks to choose from and coffee and tea.

Bagel World is far and away the best shop in the area.Their bagels are the old fashioned style boiled and baked, crispy outside and chewy inside. I love going on weekend mornings when they are always hot from the oven! They also have a crazy amount of cream cheese spreads in every flavor imaginable. Check their deli and you find top notch nova, applegate cold cuts, and tofu spreads. I'm a vegetarian and they even carry veggie meats for my sat morning egg fix. This place is family run, and I've noticed a step up over the last year or so. A health grade A has hung in the window for the last year while every other shop around here has a B or worse. The bread place up the block has been shut twice by the health dept in the last year alone(yikes). The cleanliness carries weight with me and it's noticeable in this place. The owner is always there and always out front helping his customers, I like that. Any problems I've ever had were always fixed right away, and I leave knowing my business means something to these people. I've lived in Park Slope for more than 25 years and remember when Bagel World replaced a diner that was there. I've known the owner and the staff for many years since they opened. The food may not always be perfect, but overall, I've always been very pleased with it as well as the service and the camaraderie with the staff. The bagels and the muffins were always good as well as the spreads. At some point, I started branching out into Bagel sandwiches and was very happy with them . I have found other Bagel places in the Brooklyn area to be a little lacking for some reason and believe me I've tried many of them. I have moved from the neighborhood and do not get there as often as I would like, but I'm glad to see that they are still popular and when I do go in, I remember how much I like the place. read more

I ordered an oatmeal this morning and one toasted biyalis. Besides the fact that I had to wait for my order longer than 2 customers that ordered after me, my oatmeal came out as soup. A lot of milk and little oatmeal. I wasn't even asked how I prefer my oatmeal to be. So I just spend my money for the breakfast I won't even eat now. Not the greatest start of the morning. I stopped in here earlier today since I was across the street at the farmer's market and they were out of bagels -- not only did Bagel World still have fresh everything bagels at 2pm, but it was the best bagel I've had in NYC thus far. I also don't usually order cappuccinos but something about it today seemed appealing -- I was not disappointed in the least!!! Soooo so good!! The store was so cutely decorated for the holiday season and had extremely helpful & friendly staff as well. Such a good experience I cant wait to come back here! read more

This morning I purchased a platter with scramble eggs and cheese with bacon. while eating the eggs, I found parchment paper cooked in my eggs with cheese. This is unacceptable. I could have choked in this. The food there is already over priced. They charged me extra for the toast that should have come with the platter. I will never buy from them again. Have you ever seen a dead fly on a cream cheese? Surely not! Because if you don't see it and then your remix the cheese it happen that the dead fly goes INSIDE the cream and mostly IN YOUR BAGEL!!!! Where to begin. This place is downright stupendous. Not only are the bagels and cream cheeses outstanding, but all of the baked goods they produce are divine. This place could just as easily be called "Muffin World", "Cupcake World", "Tasty Treat World".... I was really bummed. Flat/stale bagel. But it took 15 minutes because they were 'fresh'. Almost no cheese at all. Like literally, not visible. Bagel tastes soapy if that's possible. I've had an ok bagel from here before (expensive but not special) so I decided to try again. I will never come back. I recommend every bagel place in the area over the one. He must frequent there often, and it was obvious how displeased the staff was with me wanting to purchase breakfast for this man. Regardless of position in life, he's still a human being. Recently I began to visit again, as the establishment is conveniently on my way to work. Per usual I order one of the specials of the day, and modify the order to include a medium iced coffee instead of the size small offered with the special. The order total is always under $13 with the up charge and tip included. Today the exact same order was almost $20 before tip. I mentioned the discrepancy in price, and ask why the difference today. They kept insisting it was due to ordering a medium iced coffee, yet it's never been an issue with past orders, including yesterday morning. Expecting a proper explanation, the staff simply shrugged their shoulders without any concern. I've visited Bagel World many times, to the point where two of the gentlemen behind the counter already know my order and bagel preferences. An almost $6 increase without a proper explanation is unacceptable, and a disservice to their clients. Bagel World has lost my business for good.

Really solid bagels right near the Smith & 9th Street stop in Gowanus. They had them today though! Salt bagel with butter, everything with cream cheese, medium coffee and little box of OJ only $8.50 so decent price. Service a bit slow and toaster not the best. Would recommend if waiting in line at Other Half Brewing but would not go out of my way to come here.

After two bites of the too spicy bagel, I returned to the shoppe. Both the sandwich maker and the attendant at the register were pleasant and accommodating. They replaced the bagel with a milder scallion bacon cream cheese and the sandwich was both palatable and yummy. There is limited seating and no public restroom. Breakfast bagels are served before 3pm. Bonus tip: This store is a part of the "Too good to go" initiative. Toward the end of the day 1/2 dozen randomly bagged bagels in-store are $3.99.
