I have never felt so disrespected by the employees of a restaurant before. My sister and I stood at the counter and waited for at least 10 mins to be served. They served 2 people in front of us and whenever I tried to make eye contact to ask for service I was ignored. At around the 10 minute mark we were the only customers at the counter. When I saw the person who appeared to be in charge starting to come out from behind the counter I asked if I could order to which he rudely responded "No. I have customers." (???What am I???) When I pointed out to him that I had been waiting a long time he repeated "I have customers." So, all in all I cannot comment on the food as I was not served. Their bagel breakfast sandwiches are definitely amazing according to my bf whom I order these for; however, the other reviews are right when they say that the order is never right and the service is slow. When I came in, I asked for an iced coffee, and they ended up giving me this heavy, mocha frappucino/milkshake, and making the bagel and the drink together took 15 minutes. I've been to other bagel stores, and I've gotten in and out in 5 minutes tops. read more

I ordered a bacon egg and cheese and it was by far the worst one I've ever seen. I couldn't even bring myself to eat it. The bacon was microwaved and all fat, 1 egg and the cheese wasn't melted. I will never go this place again and I would not recommend it to anyone. read more

Let me just preface this with the disclaimer that I am also an employee in the restaurant industry. I'm a lowly server who works hard to make a living and know the basics of decent customer service and presentation. I'm not from the area so I'm not a snooty, rich food connoisseur who demands perfection and impeccable customer service wherever I dine. I am also not one to throw food back at employees just because my food "wasn't the way I want it" or whatever reason. But this food really made me want to give it back. I'm not an angry customer, just completely disappointed and confused by all these rave reviews. I am convinced that the people who are saying that these are the best bagels they've had after searching around have absolutely no idea of what they're talking about. I called in an order for pick up and asked for a cinnamon raisin bagel with cream cheese and a cinnamon burst bagel with pork roll, bacon, egg and cheese. I repeated my order three times clearly to the woman on the phone, and heard her say it back to me three times incorrectly. I would tell her politely "oh no no, make sure there's bacon on that one please" and she repeated it jumbled so I just shrugged. I asked my friend to pick up the order for me and when we got back home we felt our breakfast was sabotaged. I don't mean someone hocked a loogie in it. I mean that they just didn't seem to give a fuck about how they did it. My friend even said the manager looked miserable handing it orders, but those are his words, not mine. That could probably describe the poor handling of our food. Lo and behold, there was no bacon (eh no big deal it happens when I'm at work) but there was ketchup smeared all over the bottom of the bagel which made it soggy. The cream cheese from the other bagel was awful. Both bagels, in terms of quality, seemed sad and devoid of life. I've had better bagels on a college campus for 3 dollars. Hell, I've had better bagels by not even having bagels. Bagels were not big and crunchy on the outside and soft in the middle. There was no bounce. These bagels were sad. Like when you bit into one, instead of enjoying the bite, it felt like rubber. I don't do bad reviews for mom and pop stores because they need to live and good criticism will help them out. But I have no qualms saying that this corporate joint needs better management and better bagels. You're a damn bagel place. Make better bagels. (And make sure your employees listen. )o read more

The bagels are tasty. That's where the star come from. The service, as everyone seems to agree sucks. The lines are ridiculous. There has to be a better way. Today, however, guaranteed that we will never ever go back to this location. In order to expedite things, my husband called at 12:50pm (closing time is stated as 2pm on Sunday), to order our food so we could skip the wait. He was told "the grill is closed". Really, on Mother's Day over an hour before you actually close, you close the grill? This is not the first time we've been told the grill is closed early at this location. I was visiting from out of town and ordered a sausage egg and cheese on an everything bagel. Now I'm not from jersey or New York but let me tell you this breakfast sandwich was absolutely delicious. The bagel itself was soft and the fried egg was perfect. I highly recommend this joint for a quick breakfast bite. read more

I have been coming here since it has opened. I find the bagels excellent. Most of the reviews are critical of the service. Ok so when I Google Bagels 4 U it says the store opens it says 5:30 am, and when I walk into Bagels 4 U at 5:37am with the door open mind you, and I'm told there's no bagels ready to be served. Why say you're open at 5:30am with no lock on the door, and you can't serve a customer. Use some common sense whoever owns this place. read more

Like several other reviews have stated, the bagels here are great, maybe the best in the immediate area (other than Kettleman's in Somerset). However, the customer service is absolutely atrocious. The wait is long, but not entirely unexpected given the location and the quality of the food. The attitude and very slow productivity from the staff is another thing entirely. I've called in orders 40 minutes ahead of time, only to show up and find out it was never started. Other times, I've waited, and had to stand around for over a half hour. The fact that I, along with many others, would wait that long for food should tell you how good it is here. However, as also stated, be prepared to face some of the slowest, most miserable people while they make your food (this critique doesn't apply to the whole staff - some are very pleasant and good at what they do. Extremely slow service, so you'll never want to stop here on a short lunch break. I think 20 min wait time for a toasted bagel with crm cheese is excessive. Workers have no sense of urgency. i think if you are one of the people standing in line, then you cant complain about how the line is so long. because you are a part of the scenario. its jersey, its overflowing with yuppies who choose to blow all their money stuffing their faces with bagels every sunday so they can hang out with their yuppie family and breed more kids. , so face it, if you step into that place, that is what you are up against. and in jerseys high speed pace and high volume of people, if any one little thing is screwed up, it causes complete chaos. so yes the ladies do need to step it up a little, but they are hot. and the food is good. so is the coffee. and if you go there at 9 am, vs say, NOON, there are less people. the early bird gets the worm, and if you happen to be in a hurry or running late, guess what? everybody else usually is also. so there you go. read more

My bagel was OK at best. My issue primarily is with the customer service. Super slow service and yes, I'm calling you out man with the awful eyebrows. Fix your attitude. Rolling your eyes at me and being rude because I ordered after you came back with my girlfriends bagel isn't necessary. You didn't give me a chance to order. Wow, so many angry reviews, but I don't understand it, this place is just fine. It's true, the person who takes your order also prepares your bagels, but I've seen that in lots of places. If you order a bagel that takes 10 minutes then it's going to take 10 minutes no matter who does it. Everyone here today was friendly, there's plenty of seating, the prices are reasonable, the bagels are great, and they even have rainbow bagels, which my kids love. There is a no system within this building. It's always slow, it's always long, and it's almost always wrong. The workers move with no urgency and they never listen. Ive even gotten to the point where I tell people to make it before 11 because you'll never get anything on time. One time after waiting in a long line I clearly ask for an everything bagel with cream cheese and a plain bagel as well. I see the bagels go in and I take my bag out to my car. I saw to my self dare I check it and see if it's correct. I check it and of course the everything bagel is also plain. I hesitated if I should go back in but I decided not because I didn't want to waste another 25 minutes to get the correct bagel. I also heard one of the workers get high before she goes in. I walked into this establishment the other day about 45 minutes before they were closing. I was hoping to get a breakfast sandwich this day. I started by ordering an everything bagel with cream cheese for a friend and immediately after those words left my mouth, the girl taking my order was gone before I could even try to order my breakfast sandwich. A few minutes pass and she comes back with the bagel, and I inform her I wanted to get a breakfast sandwich with egg and taylor ham. Only then does she inform me their grill was already off, thus a breakfast sandwich was not possible. This information would've been helpful to me so I didn't have to send her back to make the same exact bagel she just made. I would also like to know why their grill was already off at this time, when a handful of customers were coming in after me. It's not like they were completely dead and thought about closing early. Besides the grill being off and the poor attitudes of the staff (they all looked miserable and weren't that polite!), the bagels I got were pretty good (everything bagel, toasted, with cream cheese), though the amount of cream cheese on their was a little much. Would go back again for the food, but now I just really want a breakfast sandwich. read more
