Bagels are important. I mean, maybe not for everyone, but being a born and raised Long Islander you know you need a solid bagel spot otherwise you might turn to dust. So when my fiancée and I moved to Ronkonkoma recently, we were faced with finding a new bagel location that would ensure we get our doughy fix. Enter The Gourmet Bagel Co. in all it's tasty glory. We first visited this Bohemia-based spot a few weeks ago with bagels in mind. The actual building consists of a trio of food storefronts (pizza and Mexican are the other two) so it's possible you might miss Gourmet when driving down Lakeland Ave. It's really not too big inside, but there are a few tables and enough space to wait out your order. What did we order? Bagels (of course)! I went with my usual everything bagel which was toasted, though I had to switch up my cream cheese choice as they weren't rocking any jalapeño spread at that time. The bacon and herb cream cheese sounded intriguing so I went for that. The lady had an onion bagel with regular cream cheese which did the trick for her. Honestly, the bagels were not the best I've had (I think Hand Rolled will always hold that superlative), but they were tasty, toasty, and had the right amount of seasoning with a generous spread of cream cheese. Now here's the thing about GBCo.: they're not just a bagel place. Their menu of sandwiches, salads, and paninis was insane and so we knew we'd have to return for lunch. Flash forward a few days later and we were diving into one of their hero's, The Fat Tony. This large gentleman or um, sandwich I should say, consisted of chicken cutlet, maple bacon, mozzarella, and sriracha BBQ sauce on a toasted garlic hero. It came with a side of deli salad so we went with potato. This handheld definitely had some nice flavor especially from the maple bacon and zing of the sriracha. The chicken was massive, though more cut up than an actual cutlet piece (which I prefer). The potato salad was pretty solid too. With all that said, I'm not sold on five stars just yet (I need a few more bagels and sandwiches to give me the green light on that front). But I will say the staff has been super friendly the two times we were there. Yeah, perhaps the second time the guy who helped us gave us two sides of potato salad instead of one macaroni (which we had asked for), but it's no biggie. Their friendliness is definitely a key to returning. Prices were also respectable so that's another reason to come back. Overall, The Gourmet Bagel Co. is definitely a legit bagel/deli location with plenty of tasty bagel and sandwich options. Things might not have reached five stars, but it's not far off. Plus you'll most certainly get some friendly service which might just bring you back in for another round of bagels. Because hey, if you live on this lengthy island, you better have a go-to bagel spot that delivers the goods. read more

They give me back a whole wheat bagel untoasted with cream cheese. Somehow this came after I called on a SUNDAY at 6:50 for the same order and was told "they haven't made bagels yet call back in 15 minutes" what kind of legitimate bagel place running on more than 3 brain cell messes up a bagel 2 times in a row. One of my buddies recommended this place and it definitely didn't disappoint. The staff was super friendly and accommodating. The building is clean and very new. An everything egg bagel with Eggs, sausage, cheese and a hash brown costed almost $11 which is crazy, but it was really delicious. Especially the bagel. They did charge 75 cents for cheese which is also a head scratcher, but again, 10/10 breakfast. I asked for EGGS OVER MEDIUM, it was written down and deliver to the kitchen but when I got home, surprise Fried Eggs until there was no yoke left. Little things that add up to more, if you can't get the small stuff right how can you trust the important things like food safety and cleaning? They are too busy to get the small stuff right and with all that business won't really care about my review. With the Covid outbreak I try to be patient and understanding but simply too many issues to make me feel like I am the only one getting miserable service. Hands down the best catering experience I ever had!! It was a last minute party my family asked me to host since cousins from out West unexpectedly visited ( that's another story ). This was on a Friday and we were looking to throw a party on Saturday afternoon. I called The Gourmet Bagel Co and explained my situation. The owners were fantastic and extremely accommodating given the short notice. They went through the menu and made suggestions for the amount of people I had. The next day they delivered amazing platters of wraps, salads and mini sandwiches that my family loved. The food was simply amazing! I have to say... I didn't actually try the food here. My rating is based on the service. I was merely getting some eats for the folks who work in a nearby office, a customer of mine. I went here this past Friday because of their high score on yelp.com. There's a fairly fast-moving line here, and they have some very fast-moving people working behind the counter... a bunch of them. I highly recommend they invest in another cash register. They can be seen deleting each other's partially-entered orders if one of them starts adding items and then walks away for a second. They joke around about competing for the registers, but you can see that it's a serious bottleneck when it's busy there. The place is clean, and I was jealous that the creative lunch items there weren't for me. I would definitely go back. read more

Gourmet bagel popped up on my Yelp recommendations a couple of weeks ago and I'm glad I gave them a try. Had to work a vaccine pod super early one morning and being able to order ahead online was great. My bacon, egg white and cheese was great and so were the home fries! I came in again yesterday to pick up food for myself and some co-workers also working super early. Everyone loved their food as well. The store itself has a few tables to sit at if you wanted and its always been incredibly clean inside, despite seeming as though they have a constant flow of customers all day. The staff behind the counter all work incredibly hard and they're all always moving, I have to give them a ton of credit because it never seems like it stops there. The wait is never too long regardless of how long the line itself is. We order from here frequently for our office and it's usually decent. But last week, my coworker got someone else's order of chicken tenders and Gourmet Bagels asked to pick it up from us AND THEY DID!!! Omg. They should, by health inspector's code, dispose of such food, and if they messed up, why not let us keep the tenders? Also, my other coworker received her ginger ale *opened*. What the hey?! They did replace her drink. I AM IN LOVE WITH THE FRENCH TOAST BAGELS. Seriously. Best I've had on the Island. Sandwiches are small but tasty for the price. Soooo... my girlfriend and I are here in New York for the weekend visiting family and wanted to grab some food. We saw that The Gourmet Bagel was close to the hotel we were staying so we decided to drop in. Because we woke up late, they were about to close when we arrived but they still decided to make us a baconeggandcheese (yes all one word) and it was amazing. I'm originally from New York but I've been in Atlanta for the past year so I was really looking forward to it. My girlfriend has never had a real baconeggandcheese before so she was really excited. Paid extra on our mobile order for tea (1.10) with the breakfast combo. Was told we can't have sweet tea. Offered to PAY even more money for sweet tea instead of hot tea and was told no? So spent an extra $1.10 for no drink and the manager was less than helpful. And the price difference between hot tea and sweet tea is .50 cents which again was offered to be paid. Can't believe you would lose a customer over an iced tea which we tried to pay for.
