Was in Jacksonville for the holidays this year, fun in the sun is an understatement. As usual I had to stop by and do a review so here we go. Bahama Breeze was huge, a lot of space inside. There was also outside seating available, I was suprised at how many people were out for Christmas Eve but it wasn't full/busy. There were bars both inside and outside that one could choose from, the outside bar was more of a sports bar vibe with TVs to watch sporting events. Service was decent, I have to be honest and say when I got seated I think they forgot about me. It took about 15 minutes for someone to come and speak to me. It happens, I was kind of hidden in a corner so I don't want to make it a huge thing. My waitress was kind and she got my order out to me quickly after she acknowledged my existence. I got some of my food to-go at the end of my stay and she added more to it before I left, which is always appreciated. Food was good, I wasn't too thrilled with the flavors of the food. I did not hear anything about the establishment so I came in blind so I was open minded about the experience. A Caribbean place in Jacksonville right? Who knew? Lol! My drink was amazing. I had the King Carnival, highly recommended. One thing I will say is all the food I had was extremely filling, I started with the Chicken Tostones and that almost took me out! Great portions, but again it was lacking in the flavor department. Directly after I had the stuffed plantain bowl, I loved the sound of it on the menu: caramelized sweet plantain, yellow rice, ground beef, alllllllllll the goods. When I had it all together it was just......ok. Again no expectations but I was hoping to get more bang for my buck. I would love to go back and give it another try soon.

I've been in several times for happy hour and at least once for dinner. The bill is always great! Brandon was the most recent server who was friendly and attentive and kept an eye on the happy hour clock! The outside patio is great! Inside is a little dark. Bathrooms are clean! The drinks are very tasty and good pours for happy hour prices! The apps are all tasty! Overall a good time!

Out with the work crew. Seated outside. The weather was perfect! Live steel drummer. A little loud and made it difficult to hear our conversations. We ordered drinks and empanadas and spinach artichoke dip for starters. Very good. For dinner I had the Ahi tuna salad. It very very good!

Stopped in for a quick lunch and the server made sure we got served in time for work. Love the ordering at the table fie any extra items and paying at the table too. Snapper was prepared perfectly and totally fresh. The seafood chowder with lumps of scallops and whole shrimp hit the spot! The coconut shrimp tacos were the best I've ever had!

Ok I havent been to bahama breeze since before covid, but their happy hour specials are still the best in town! My friends and I yesterday enjoyed HH drinks ranging from $4 to $6 (my fav was the house marg, my friend liked her berry sangria, and hubby liked the bahama mama). We also enjoyed oodles of 1/2 priced apps! Their coconut shrimp with the mango chutney is the best in town, and the new ahi tuna tostada stack was great as well! Our server Brandin was spot on with taking our orders, knowing the menu, and attending to us. It always feels like a mini vaca having some fruity drinks and delicious apps on the front patio of bahama breeze!

Mahi Mahi - DOA Dined at Bahama Breeze on Saturday 05/03/25. The service was extremely slow, lack of attentiveness by the staff, and the food was NOT good. I ordered the new menu item, the Jerk Mahi Mahi topped with a fresh tomato salas, lime vinaigrette and served with yellow rice for $22.99. The wait time was about 30 minutes. The dish looked very good. Beyond that, it was a downward slide. Too much lime vinaigrette and the rice were cold. Although the rice was cold, it tasted very good with the charred tomatoes. The Mahi Mahi didn't make the cut. The Mahi Mahi was hot, but it was overcooked, extremely dry, chewy, bland, and tasteless. This Mahi Mahi had no Jerk and no Caribbean flare. This Jerk Mahi Mahi dish was dead on arrival. Bahama Breeze 10205 River Coast Dr, Jacksonville, FL 32246

Shoutout to our local community heroes here at this venue! I know that I can always count on the staff to be pleasant, the food to be amazing, and the ambiance to have chill island vibes! I truly appreciate the hospitality felt here. The food has the proper flavors and textures that I enjoy from Caribbean food. The drinks are amazing because of the combinations, variety, and flavors. The sangrias are easily some of our favorites. The proteins here are masterfully prepared and accompanied with the perfect sides. Savory black beans, tender seasoned rice, and amazing sauces!!! I like my favorite go-to's, but I also like to take an adventure with new dishes like crispy chicken and Johnny cakes!! Hubby said the seafood paella is so good that he would eat the shells if it were possible! That meant it was proper!! I can't help but chill and sway to the music! The staff is amazing! Professional, personable, and joyful. I know that everyone is very busy, but they are attentive and friendly. I look forward to coming here to chill and enjoy the food.... It's bussin!!

Food was Empanadas, Conch Fritters and coconut shrimp as appetizers. All were very good. I've never tried Empanadas before, I really enjoyed them.Shrimp were crisp and tasty with a sweet fruity mustard tasting dipping sauce. The fritters were good but a little mushie for my pallet. Friend had the Pineapple rice bowl. She said it was delicious.

Came for dinner and was seated right away. The waitress was fantastic and service was top notch. The food came out within 10 minutes after ordering. The snapper and the mahi mahi were new on the menu. Both had very good flavor. Both fish were not super fresh. They weren't bad but not as tasty as a fresh fish. If you look at my pictures the plate looked a lot better than it tasted. Place was clean.

Though the parking lot was busy, I was sat immediately and noticed they were not too busy on a Friday night 7:30pm - likely an indicator of the experience to come. Kaitlyn was very friendly in greeting and throughout the meal. She was obviously the only bright spot on this experience, since you see the star rating. The soda lacked carbonation in the coke, so I mentioned it tasting off to me. I switched to an Orange Fanta, and that too lacked carbonation. Ended up just eating my spicy crab combo with no drink. Which thankfully, spicy is no where near spicy at this location. Medium at best if you order spicy. Genuinely let down, especially since it is ONE cluster for $38.99. Definitely felt this was a skip, and then was shocked when the bill came... As a party of one, I was charged automatic gratuity of 12%, which is bewildering to me. Larger parties? Totally get it! But a party of one, which I was shocked but they do list on the menu of prices. I almost tipped 20% on top of the bill, until I was looking into why it was higher than I expected. Additionally, $4.99 for a soda that doesn't even have the syrup and carbonation properly calibrated?! Wowza, what a letdown for $50+ for dining alone. If you are in Jacksonville, you are surrounded by lots of good seafood places. Big crab? Personally, a pass for me.

We ordered the crab and shrimp dip, which was yummy. For my main meal I got the fried basket with fried shrimp and calamari. It wasn't amazing. The calamari was definitely overcooked. My dad also got a fried shrimp and instead of telling him that they ran out of something they just added hush puppies without telling him, which was strange. The waiters were nice though, but overall wasn't super impressed with the food. The seafood platter seemed to be the star of the show for my group!

I only get the lobster rolls when I come here and they're more than worth the visit. The portions of lobster are generous and always super fresh and tasty. They used Martins potato bun for the rolls which work perfectly with some butter and a light toast on the grill. The remoulade sauce is a nice to pair with the onion rings on the side if you're looking for something to pair with the lobster rolls or the seafood. I've tried the fried shrimp a couple of times. They're good but the lobster rolls easily outshine them. The fried chips that come with your order are good but I generally don't eat many. This is what you'll get in place of your typical French fries. I think it's a nice change up. The atmosphere here is clean but nothing fancy. It's basic and simple but it gets the job done. Unfortunately, our server wasn't very attentive. The burger started off strong with a nice smoky flavor, and the tanginess of the BBQ sauce gave it a great taste. However, the burger patty itself lacked seasoning and didn't have the flavor I was expecting. The bacon was nice and crispy, which was a plus. Overall, this wasn't my favorite burger I've had over the past few days. The BBQ sauce carried the entire burger and overpowered everything else instead of complementing it. 7/10 The fries were soft and fluffy, but I do wish they had been a little crispier. Some of them also seemed slightly undercooked. 7/10

Recent years I have not gone as much; a few visits (not to this location but in other states) were not quite what I remembered. Nonetheless, we were in town for the night, and this location was within walking distance from our hotel. We arrived slightly before our reservation and were seated quickly. Our server came to the table and was very polite, took our drink order, and quickly returned. My wife had a glass of red wine (I can't remember which), and for me a Vodka martini with olives. My drink was good and exactly what I needed after a long day of travel. For appetizers, we ordered the Avocado Bomb, ahi tuna, crab salad, crispy wontons, and the fire-grilled artichokes with rémoulade. The artichokes were just okay, and honestly I'm not sure how much was the restaurants fault or the fact that artichokes are a pain to eat and theirs nothing to them but chewy leaves (the rémoulade was good though!). The Avocado Bomb was very good, although one critique was that, while, yes, it was crab salad at the bottom, the crab was nearly shredded, but overall a good dish! I opted for Prime Rib (as rare as they could get it to me), with au jus and smashed potatoes. My wife decided on the Carolina Crab Cakes, jumbo lump crab, chili mayonnaise, mustard sauce, French fries, and Southern coleslaw. I also opted for a side of horseradish sauce per our server's recommendation. I will say that I've ordered prime rib before in similar chain restaurants (some of them chain steakhouses), and without fail they come out nearly well done. The excuse is always because "it's precooked and it is cooked to a certain temp...blah, blah, blah". Yet, I ordered it here, and it was cooked exactly as I wanted it. Now, I won't claim it was a great cut of beef, but it was good and did the trick. The potatoes were good as well. The horseradish sauce, though, had far too much mayo in it and tasted like it. But still a dish I would order again! My wifes crab cakes were very good as well, a great amount of lump crab meat without the filler you see so often. The coleslaw was typical coleslaw, tasteless and pointless when you have a dish at market price. But the fries were good! Overall, we had a good experience; the service and food were very good. If in the area again, we would certainly return, and this may have me visit other J. Alexander's during my travels elsewhere.
