What I Ordered: - Coke: When ordering a burger, a Coke just seems natural. Plus, it was ordered while I was on a work trip so I couldn't order a martini at lunch. - Old Fashioned Cheese Burger: This was absolutely delicious and loved they will cook to desired temperature. The fries were perfect and overall one of the best burgers I've had in a long time! - Cheesecake (To go): The fresh whipped cream and blueberry compote on the side was phenomenal! I took it to go to enjoy in the hotel room later that evening, and was amazed at how delicious it was. It was so good that when I saw a J. Alexander's in Arizona, I made a visit though they didn't have on the menu. PLEASE add the cheesecake as a regular menu item! This would make J. Alexander's the perfect restaurant for me. As a foodie, this is one of the highest remarks. The restaurants are beautiful inside, and the service at both locations has been friendly. If I could get the perfect burger + cheesecake, then I'm sure I would shout from the rooftops for everyone to visit a J. Alexander's near them!

Pretty solid spot and a while they are a bit pricey, they do have some cheaper menu options. I was a big fan of the steak burger. The patty was so tender and flavorful. But I do wish it came with more toppings like lettuce and tomato. We also got the cajun seafood pasta since it looks like that's a popular pick. I really liked the sauce. And they give a good amount of shrimp. But I found myself wanting the pasta to be a little overcooked. But take that with a grain of salt because we ordered takeout. It's probably better if you dine in and eat it right when it's ready.

It's been a while since coming to the Town Center so I decided to make a day of it. I had a 4pm appointment at the Apple Store so I arrived at 1.30 and decided to park at Target and browse stores as I walked (got steps in too!) I knew I wanted to eat at the restaurant on the corner from the Apple Store so I timed my arrival for an hour earlier. How could I forget it's called J. Alexander's. Since it's fairly early they sat me quickly and I ordered the J salad with blackened salmon. It was huge and the salmon was juicy delicious! My waitress recommended I get it blackened, she was on point. My waitress was awesome! She recommended drinks and when she saw I couldn't decide she said she'd bring a water while I looked it over. When she turned she asked if I wanted sangria's, it wasn't in the menu but it was just what I wanted. They play background music while you dine, not too loud and it's jazzy. The bar has a big screen tv to watch the game if that's your thing. Now I remember why I wanted to come back here! Thanks to Beatrice it was perfect.

Had a small celebration moment and decided it called for an espresso martini. In my continued search for the best espresso martini in Jax (and beyond) I'd say that this ranks top 5. I prefer the creamier ones made with Baileys, and this is that. Delish! My favorite part about having a nice little martini of any kind here (I think it's only martinis - correct me if I'm wrong) is you get a nice little extra pour from the carafe delivered alongside your beverage. It's basically an entire second martini! We also had the spinach queso dip that was decent. Nothing to write home about, but a solid little app to munch on while enjoying a drink at the bar. And per usual, the service was lovely. Fabulous bartenders (we sat at the bar) and great hosts. I will certainly be back again! It's a clean, fairly quiet experience. A good place to have a nice conversation!

Great date night spot, or a nice place to go for a girls night! Always get the carrot cake so keep room for the end!! The tuna stack is a must and their mash potato's are the yummiest!

Victoria provided excellent and friendly service. She was a delight and a huge plus for the restaurant. It's a nice, comfortable atmosphere. Not too tight not too loose. I had the prime rib and was able to get an end cut. It was delicious and the horseradish was very good. All in all I'd say it's a winner. Bring your wallet, but it won't bust it.

Two of my friends and I share September birthdays within a week and a half of each other. We started a tradition a few years ago of meeting up in September to celebrate. We decided to check out J. Alexander's as this was my first time. I made reservations and we were seated promptly upon arrival at 5:00 PM on Saturday. Our server Noel came by to check on us pretty quickly and gave us amazing service throughout our visit. We started with the onion rings. They were hot, crispy and delicious! Some of the best I've ever tasted. And I loved the dipping sauce. For dinner I ordered the steak (medium) n' fries but substituted fries for mac and cheese. The steak was cooked perfectly and the mac and cheese was unlike any I've ever tasted and I loved it! I could tell it had onions but unsure of the other ingredients. We were on the fence about dessert but we decided to order the chocolate lava cake. Our server Noel was so sweet she also brought us a slice of carrot cake which listed on the check was free marked as birthday;) The chocolate lava cake was rich and smooth and paired nicely with the vanilla ice cream. I normally do not eat carrot cake but after having one bite I went back for seconds, thirds and probably fourths;))) I look forward to my next visit when I can explore more of the menu. Thank you for making our birthday celebration special!

Went with family in the area for a birthday dinner. Sadly, I did not take pictures before digging in, so please excuse the one lonely picture. Started with the onion rings which were very crispy with a panko type coating. They were enough for 6 people as an appetizer. I had a house salad which was very large, and pretty good. 3 in our party had the prime rib. All said it was excellent. The horseradish sauce could have had more heat. I had the filet which was exceptional. Cooked perfectly. It came with a really large loaded potato which I didn't make it through. It was very good as well. We had no room for dessert. Service was on point and exceptionally friendly. We had a reservation and were seated promptly. I didn't get to see much of the restaurant as we were seated in a rounded corner booth but what I did see was very nice with good atmosphere. Definitely would go again especially to celebrate a special day.

Night out with friends. Our waitress, Alexandra was fantastic as was the food. Started with pear Old Fashioned which was a tasty change from the classic. Apps were calamari and artichokes. Entrees were ahi tuna salad and crispy fish tacos. Restaurant was crowded but noise level was low. Can't wait to return

I'm a little surprised by how the ambience is for the price and for an upscale place. I was expecting more like Capital Grille but I feel I'm on a Carnival Cruise or eating at Cheesecake Factory. Cocktails - I ordered French 75 and the drink was warm. They ran out of martini glasses so it was in a regular glass. Food - crab cake dip was good. Wish they gave more bread because bread to dip ratio was a little off.

    Crispy chicken sandwich-very good.

Went for lunch the other day and it was really good. Our waiter was friendly and although I had to ask for a few things, he was very good at following up. My husband got the burger and said it was good. I got the crispy chicken sandwich. It was actually excellent. Very fresh, nice and hot and had a good flavor. Came with fries which are super thin, like shoestring fries. I really enjoyed them. The ambiance is modern and chic. Will definitely return.

I wanted to take my wife and daughter to a nice New Year's Eve dinner. I had heard great things about this restaurant so made a reservation. We arrived and were greeted promptly. After a very short wait, we were seated a little earlier than our reservation time. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. She provided excellent service snd was there when we needed anything. She took our drink and appetizer orders promptly upon seating, and gave us the perfect amount of time to enjoy those before asking to take our dinner orders. My wife ordered the filet and crab cake, and my daughter ordered the steak and fries. They both were very satisfied with their orders. From taste, to preparation and portion size, they both enjoyed their dinners immensely. I ordered the Steak Maui (marinated ribeye and mashed potatoes), and this is where the experience took a negative turn. The steak I was given was a NY strip. It was so obvious, that even our waitress immediately noticed and agreed. She offered to have the order corrected, but I didn't want to go through the wait again. I politely declined and just asked to have it removed from my bill. She was very apologetic, but this was not her fault. She cleared it from the table and the girls finished their dinners. The manager comes to the table and apologizes. She generously gave me a gift certificate for another meal, for which I was very appreciative. However, there was no apology for their mistake. The apology was "for the meal not meeting MY expectations". My expectations? Shouldn't their expectations be that they deliver a product according to their menu? It's not like I complained about seasoning or cooking technique. I sent it back because I ordered a ribeye and got a strip steak. How does a restaurant/kitchen at their price point try to pass off a strip steak as a ribeye? Does the kitchen not know the difference? Do they not know their own menu? Mistakes happen. But to pass this off as an issue with my expectations was very condescending. Semantics? I don't think so. It came across as careful wording to make it clear that the problem didn't lie in their kitchen. The manager took a mix up that would have not been a problem with a sincere apology, and flipped the script unnecessarily. It's a shame because the food my family received was great, and our waitress was great as well.

The soda lacked carbonation in the coke, so I mentioned it tasting off to me. I switched to an Orange Fanta, and that too lacked carbonation. Ended up just eating my spicy crab combo with no drink. Which thankfully, spicy is no where near spicy at this location. Medium at best if you order spicy. Genuinely let down, especially since it is ONE cluster for $38.99. Definitely felt this was a skip, and then was shocked when the bill came... As a party of one, I was charged automatic gratuity of 12%, which is bewildering to me. Larger parties? Totally get it! But a party of one, which I was shocked but they do list on the menu of prices. I almost tipped 20% on top of the bill, until I was looking into why it was higher than I expected. Additionally, $4.99 for a soda that doesn't even have the syrup and carbonation properly calibrated?! Wowza, what a letdown for $50+ for dining alone. Walking in, there's a lot going on: tastings, displays, truffles, souvenirs, etc. Music played over…read morethe speakers and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves. I was one of 6 in a group and had great conversation and larger than expected appetizers. I ordered a flight of reds, broadening my tastes to explore a Tempranillo. It was my favorite, actually, and paired well with the Shanghai Short Rib! I was pleasantly impressed. I did have the crab, shrimp and lobster bisque for my appetizer, the seasonal Shanghai Short rib for my entree and the peach butter cake to finish. Truthfully, I was finished long before the dessert, but had to taste each course. It was delectable! Personally, I would've appreciated more spice in the Shanghai sauce, but it was tasty for a more general palate and customer base. There's some risotto that called to me, so I will definitely return! Our service was kind, professional and attentive without being overly aggressive nor present. It was very appreciative.

Would've had a better experience if our party wasn't seated 30 minutes after the reservation time…read moreAFTER being told the table was ready 7 minutes before the actual reservation time. Our server Frenchie also made it very clear that she's only working for tips - but she wasn't working very hard for them. Not only did she belittle our party for our ages, but also made it our problem for taking our food/drink orders late. One person in our party asked a question regarding an entree on the menu and he was met with a smart remark and little to no detail explaining the entree. Later on in the night when the whole table is done eating - we all decide to help out and clean up the table as best as we can. Frenchie decided it was a good time to make yet another smart remark about stacking the plates on top of each other. She continued to say "Have you ever been a server before?" and before really answering she cut me off to say "well then you should know not to stack the plates because you don't know if the server can handle that many plates" ... as she continued to take the pile of dishes out of my hand. If she can't handle too many plates in her hands, then she should've just waited to clear the table or politely say "i'll come back for those plates in a minute" by the end of it all , the entire table felt very uncomfortable by her demeanor towards us - of course we still tipped because we understand what it's like to make a living off of tips but to have a sour attitude and continually reminding us that you're here for tips isn't a great way of having customers coming back.
