Service was good. I was greeted warmly. As I ordered, I was asked how I wanted the final dish to be. I was asked if I wanted the tofu steamed or fried, if I wanted the chicken shredded or cubed, and different variations of things like that. The taste of the food wasn't as tasty as k wanted to be. I did request the removal of fish sauce due to shellfish allergy.

Ordered from here on Uber eats because my usual Thai place was closed. Ordering was pretty simple and straightforward, they asked you for your protein and the spice level. I got the Pud-See-Eww with chicken, spice level 3 and 2 sushi rolls. On a positive for the noodles, the portion size was really good, and it contained a lot of vegetables and chicken! It did lack flavor though, I had to add some oyster sauce and coconut aminos that I had in my house. That made it taste a million times better. Overrall 3/5. The sushi was pretty good! I got the spice girls and the shrimp tempura, I'd give them a 4.5/5. Pretty solid!

Bahn Thai is pretty decent! I ordered chicken Pad Thai through our delivery service at work. You can choose the spice level 1-5 so I decided to go with level 3. I thought the spice level was good but I did add sriracha. Maybe I'll go with a level 4 next time. The lunch portion was kind of small but it filled me up so it was fine. I just wish I would have had some leftovers for later. I'll definitely order again when I see it come across my desk.

We went during lunch and had sushi and I ordered the house noodles with chicken. It was really good and the food came out pretty fast. The restaurant got packed quickly during lunch. The service was nice and attentive!

The food at Bahn Thai is top notch! My family and I love the basil fried rice with shrimp and chicken, the sushi is really good. Everything that I tried on the menu has been phenomenal. Best Thai in Charlotte

I stopped in for an early lunch...and since super-hungry (following a long fast!), I ordered a Seafood Pad See Ew, along with their specialty Bahn Thai Roll. For once, I was a bit disappointed with their foods. While still delicious, the portions and the presentation were just weak. The noodle portion was very small, for one. Then the veggies in the Pad See Ew were just not that great...some broccoli and a ton of tasteless, white cabbage (crudely cut...way too big!). Given that this dish was around 18 bucks, I expected a bit more. Same with the Bahn Thai Roll. I saw a snazzy pic of this roll on Yelp, but mine looked nothing like that...but rather modest, with a sloppy presentation. Again, this was possibly the most expensive sushi roll on their menu, but it just wasn't all that. Sadly, I realized that it didn't really pay off to order their more expensive items...so lesson learned. Next time, I'll probably just get the Beef, Chicken or Shrimp Pad See Ew...and one of their less expensive sushi rolls. BTW, the service was really good...fast and attentive. Actually alot more friendly than usual, in the past. Also, the restaurant looked really good (think they added some new paintings?). If only the foods were worth the money paid?? This is definitely one of the better Thai restaurants in town, so I just expected better...especially with their pricier items. I still really like this place, and their foods, so likely to return.

Great Thai place in Charlotte! Food was excellent. I had the chicken Pud Thai with a spice level of 2, and it was just enough spice with a little kick. Service was quick and helpful with the menu, and I almost had to get another round of sushi because it was so good. It's in a great shopping center as well if you wanted to stop by a bar afterwards like I did. Will definitely be back when I'm in the Ballentyne area.

We decided to go to Bahn Thai because we were in the area for some appointments. We walked in and were immediately greeted, we had the choice of where we wanted to sit, and they even have an outdoor area...which in hindsight we wish we would e utilized. The ambiance is great, they have a bar as well which we like. I ordered the Cherry Blossom roll and Spring Rolls for an appetizer. Both were delicious! I then ordered the Red Curry 3 star, the perfect heat for me and the flavors were perfect, My partner ordered the Pad Thai, and it looked delicious as well, he wouldn't share lol. Overall we will be back. Oh and the staff were very friendly and attentive.

    2 rolls for 12. Super tiny :(

I generally come here every Monday. Their Thai dishes have been very good. I decided to try their sushi lunch deal and unfortunately it fell far short of expectations based on their other dishes. The serving size is tiny. It haven tried the hibachi style lunch yet - but now I'm concerned I need to stick with the typical Thai entrees. They have been consistent with the requested heat level for me - which I appreciate!

This visit was especially fun because we came with a big group, which meant we got to do what Thai food does best: order way too much food, share everything family-style, and sample half the menu. We started with the satay, summer rolls, and papaya salad before moving on to a feast of drunken noodles, khao soi, pad Thai, Thai-style fried rice, Bang Bang shrimp, wings, and more. Every dish that hit the table disappeared quickly. The drunken noodles had that perfect smoky wok flavor, the khao soi was rich and comforting, and the pad Thai delivered exactly what you want from a classic. The wings were crispy, sticky, and completely addictive. And of course, no meal at Rai Lay Thai is complete without mango sticky rice. We ordered multiple servings because one is never enough. What keeps bringing me back is the consistency. The portions are generous, the flavors are vibrant and authentic, and the value is outstanding. Whether you're sharing with friends or taking home leftovers, you leave happy. The staff deserves a special mention. They are always warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. Service is attentive without feeling rushed, even when the restaurant is packed. The dining room is comfortable and inviting, with cozy banquettes accented by beautiful Thai-inspired pillows. There is some outdoor seating available, though it's limited. For larger groups, you'll likely be dining inside, which is perfectly fine because the atmosphere is lively and energetic. My only caution is the parking. There is a validated garage behind the restaurant, but it can feel a little chaotic at times. Street parking is available as well, though being right off South Boulevard means traffic can move fast. Minor parking challenges aside, Rai Lay Thai remains one of my favorite restaurants in Charlotte. The food is consistently excellent, the portions are generous, and every visit feels like money well spent. If you've never had truly great Thai food, put this place on your list. Bring friends, order family-style, and don't skip dessert. Life is too short not to eat well, Charlotte. Get out there and enjoy it.

The menu is extensive, portions are generous, and this is the kind of place where ordering a variety of dishes and sharing family-style is the way to go. That's exactly what we did. We sampled everything from fresh basil rolls, crispy egg rolls, fried wontons, and other appetizers to curries, noodle dishes, vegetables, duck, chicken, and more. The basil duck was outstanding, the red curry was rich and flavorful, and the ginger chicken was another favorite at our table. Every dish arrived fresh, hot, and beautifully prepared. The cocktails were equally impressive. Colorful, creative, and well-balanced, they paired perfectly with the bold flavors coming out of the kitchen. The restaurant itself is beautiful, with an open-concept kitchen that adds energy and excitement to the dining experience. Service was attentive, friendly, and efficient, even on a busy evening. Now for the only downside: the prices. Basil Thai is not inexpensive. Some menu items are priced more like what you'd expect in San Francisco than Charlotte. The portions are generous and the quality is excellent, but be prepared for the bill if you're ordering cocktails, appetizers, and multiple entrées. Parking can also be a little challenging since it's located in a busy Uptown area. Plan on using a nearby parking garage and walking a short distance to the restaurant. That said, if you're looking for a special night out, authentic Thai flavors, generous portions, beautiful cocktails, and a lively atmosphere, Basil Thai is well worth a visit. Life is too short not to eat well, Charlotte. Get out there and eat your way through it.

There are some amazing Thai restaurants in NYC so that sets the bar pretty high. I ordered the Pad See Ew with shrimp which is definitely one of my "go-to" Thai entree selections. A couple of things I noticed. First of all they used regular broccoli in their version. I have never once seen regular broccoli and not Chinese Broccoli in this dish. That was disappointing. Then the shrimp had the talk on it. I've never had a Thai restaurant leave the tail on in a noodle dish. I found it to be annoying to have to wrestle with it. Unnecessary fir a noodle dish. Finally the sauce wasn't as sweet as o was used to. The recipe is usually made with a SWEET soy sauce. This was clearly regular soy sauce and quite honestly it tasted good first bit but there was a weird aftertaste that I can't describe which made me want to stop eating it even though the first bite was ok. Not sure what that aftertaste was but I'm not a fan and will probably never go back to try something else there. I'm gonna go gargle with Listerine now. The restaurant is cute, clean and in a great location but not authentic Thai in my eyes.

Naturally, I headed straight to Thai Thai Takeout, which has always been one of my comfort-food staples in Charlotte. Well, surprise -- the restaurant recently changed ownership and rolled out an entirely new menu. I was trying to order from my old takeout menu over the phone and quickly realized I was completely out of sync. Thankfully, the woman helping me was incredibly patient and kind while I figured it out. I ended up ordering the Pra Rahm Long Song with tofu, and honestly, it was delicious. It came loaded with steamed spinach, broccoli, mushrooms, carrots, napa cabbage, and cabbage covered in a rich peanut sauce that was comforting without feeling too heavy. The tofu soaked up all that flavor beautifully. I also ordered a pineapple red curry with pork at spice level 3. The curry itself was fantastic -- creamy, rich, loaded with pineapple, and really flavorful. I will say the spice level was pretty mild for a "3," so I added my own chilies at home to kick it up a notch. My only critique was the pork, which was a little dry and tough for my liking. I'm pretty particular about proteins and don't really do white meat chicken either, so next time I may try tofu or another option instead. The good news? The portions are generous, everything was packed nicely, and my order was hot and ready exactly when promised -- about 10 to 12 minutes after I called. Parking is easy right in front, and since it's takeout-only, it makes for a super quick and convenient dinner stop. Even though some longtime favorites like the satay seem to be gone, the new menu looks extensive and exciting enough that I'll absolutely be back to eat my way through it. Charlotte, there's a big wide world out there, and this is definitely a place worth adding to your regular rotation.
