Headed back here again last Saturday afternoon to try a few additional items on the menu. I didn't realize calamari was on the menu during my first visit, so I tried it this time. The onion ring-esque calamari was what I expected...calamari wrapped in a crunchy batter. It wasn't as light as traditional calamari, but we all enjoyed it. I typically don't eat fresh summer rolls, but my 11-year old nephew insisted on them. He ate both and loved them. The house salad didn't have any "extras" like cucumbers or tomatoes, although it was a little larger than expected. The Bahn Thai wings were a surprise hit. Large, crispy, and juicy...some of the best restaurant wings I've had in a while. The sushi was exactly what I'd hoped for. It was spicy and fresh, but the serving was small. I looked at my sushi vs. my niece's larger plate of less expensive wings and began to rethink my choices! Bahn Thai is a decent Thai restaurant in Ballantyne. They have a wide variety of classic Thai dishes, sushi and Japanese food. All of the dishes I have had from them have been very good except when I ordered a squid dish. The squid was very tough. They can make your food any level of heat and they are not afraid to fire it up if you ask them to! They have daily lunch specials until 2:30 PM. All in all this is a good Thai restaurant and a great addition to the Ballantyne area! read more

Banh Thai was accommodating of us as we had a late dinner and placed our order around 8:30. The food was piping hot and fresh even as takeout. My friends and I split the thai dumplings, which remind me more of a deep fried pastry with a chicken salad like filling, very interesting indeed! I got the pud see ew, the noodles were very wide, the chicken was juicy enough, and I liked how there were bamboo shoots! 2 out of 6 spice had a perfect kick and js what I like to get as a "medium". I do wish the noodles were bouncier and that the dish had more of a char but it's a solid choice; also the portions are huge!! read more

Ordered takeout. Delicious food. Our family enjoys spice and we were not disappointed. Got a Level 3 spicy on the Pad Thai and it was just right (spicy enough to sweat a little on the upper lip but not so hot you couldn't taste the flavour of the dish). As appetisers we got the Chicken Satay and the Summer Rolls. We highly recommend both of these dishes. The chicken is cooked to perfection and the summer roll is remarkably fresh. We also got two spicy sushi rolls (Spice Girl + Spicy Tuna) and one non-spicy sushi roll (Phili Roll). All were very tasty. read more

I've been going to Bahn Thai for years, their food is decent and they used to treat customers nicely. Went today (April 2022) after a while, and sadly, customer service has gone for a toss. I ordered online, and since there was no option to add sauces, I decided to ask for a few while picking up. The servers literally yelled at me for that, and insisted that I order sauces online. I explained there was no option to do so, but they continued to be rude and obstinate. They said they had "customers to serve" and had no time to give me sauces! As if I was not a customer myself. Terrible attitude. They treated me as if I was getting food for free, and had no right to customer service. This is a growing trend at restaurant and it is unfortunate. Am I missing something with all of these good reviews? I kept checking to make sure I ordered from the same place. The lettuce wraps literally had zero flavor. The veggies tasted like frozen bagged veggies you buy from a store . The chicken had no flavor. I am obsessed with lettuce wraps and these are the worse I've ever had. The list goes on but my fave dishes here are: Red Curry (lvl 3) Bahn Thai fried rice with shrimp (lvl 3) Crunchy roll You literally cannot go wrong with any of these. I tried their chicken wing appetizer for the 1st time last week and was pleasantly surprised to get whole wings! Very rare find in Charlotte to get whole wings instead of wingettes. The wings were fresh, hot, super crispy and tender, paired with sweet chili sauce #win Service is always top notch and one of the things I love the most is that their health score is consistently at a 99!! Went here w/K for a rainy Monday lunch. It's in a busy shopping center just off I-485 & Johnston Road so be prepared for the traffic and a challenge finding a close parking spot. They have a good selection on the menu and as I read the reviews it seemed the Pad See Ew was popular and when K said that is her favorite thing to order, so did I. It's interesting they will ask you if you want 1 to 5 spicy (hot). I went with a number 2 and it had very little spice to it. I chose the pork protein option and there was very little pork in the dish but a lot of noodles. I hope you like noodles because that's what you'll get. Our server was very nice, efficient and great to follow-up with us. The Jasmine tea was better than average. When it's winter, don't sit in the booth closest to the door...you'll freeze your assets off! read more

Today for lunch I ordered some chicken spring rolls. I always enjoy them, I also ordered the fried rice with seafood added. The rice was very bland although it asked for your spice level. I have had better Thai fried rice so I would not order that again from this establishment. I will stick to the basics and that's the spring rolls. I also didn't like that when you walked in there a big sign tapped to a chair that states Sauce is not free it cost $$$ please get a better way of making customers aware of this. Let me just start off and say the Sakura Rolls are amazing! It's a white tail tuna wrapped over a roll of eel and cucumbers. The flavors and the fish were super fresh and amazing. The sushi are freshly rolled by the sushi chef in the back of the restaurant. My sister who is vegetarian ordered some avocado and cucumber rolls and those were also freshly rolled (since it was a custom roll not on the menu). While the sushi was amazing, the Pud See-ew was okay/decent. I thought it was a bit too sweet for my liking and lacked a good amount of noodles in the dish so the ratios between the pork/veggies and noodles were kind of off. Usually their stir fry noodle dishes are excellent so I just waved this off as a one time mistake. The fresh summer rolls were good but also the flavor of sauce seemed a bit off and the ratio between the veggies in the roll to the shrimp seemed unnatural to a summer roll. Lastly, the Gaeng Mussamun Curry was delicious! The coconut flavors were amazing and the veggies and chicken were cooked very nicely. Every time I come to Bahn Thai I always get their curry dishes because it never disappoints. Overall, their sushi and curry was 5/5 and the other dishes were decent and below average compared to how good their food usually is. The service was also very pleasant. Shrimp basil rolls '& Pud Kee Maow were my choices tonight . The roll was good but not much shrimp in the roll . Seems like the shrimp is shaved in half before it's placed in the roll. A lot of filler but not much shrimp. It was lacking ! The Pud Kee Maow was good but not nearly what I expected. The broccoli was overcooked . It was Flavorful but just not fabulous. All in all it was tasty but just okay. The place was empty so I'm not sure if NFL football tonight had the crowds at the pubs or if this was a typical night here. read more
