What started as a search for the perfect 25th anniversary ring turned into building a personal jewelry collection I didn't know I needed -- and I couldn't be more in love with every single piece. We originally purchased my wife's wedding ring from Baida Jewelry in 2014 and had a wonderful experience working with Eddie, who was kind, helpful, and made us feel confident in our purchase. Unfortunately, our experience since then has gone downhill. Over the last 10 years, we've had to bring the ring in three times due to diamonds falling out and prongs needing repair. Each time, I paid for the repairs without question or expectation of warranty coverage. Despite that, during our most recent visit, the owner, Faddoul, made several condescending comments about the ring not being under warranty--something I never claimed or expected. He quoted me $150 for the most recent repair, which I agreed to without hesitation. However, when I went in to pick up the ring, I was told it was cash only, something that had never been mentioned before. Faddoul then explained that he didn't want to pay tax on the transaction. That alone was unprofessional, but it didn't stop there. He went on to say that my wife shouldn't be wearing her wedding ring every day, and that it was only meant for special occasions. He actually suggested I should buy a new ring for everyday wear. That was absurd and completely unreasonable--this is a wedding ring, not a museum piece. Throughout the exchange, he was cold and chastising toward my wife and me, comparing the situation to his Jeep engine dying and not being under warranty, as if I were asking for something for free (I wasn't). He complained that he wasn't making money on repairs and said he planned to stop fixing jewelry altogether because of issues like ours. It was also made clear that our business was no longer welcome. It's a shame, because we had such a great experience when we first purchased the ring. Baida Jewelry meant something special to us for a long time. But after this, we won't be returning. My advice to anyone considering Baida: if you go, work with Eddie. Avoid dealing with Faddoul. read more

We were recommended to this jeweler by several friends who had great experiences, so my boyfriend and I were really excited to go-especially since it was our first time ever shopping for engagement rings. We had an appointment and expected a more personalized experience, but from the moment we walked in, things felt chaotic. It was packed, and after waiting at the counter for almost 10 minutes without being acknowledged, my boyfriend had to flag someone down. When we were finally seated, I mentioned I didn't know my ring size, but no one offered to measure me- even though we were there for nearly an hour and two employees were sitting right in front of us the entire time, just staring at everyone in the store. Eventually, a man came over, and it felt like he was just trying to make a quick sale. I had expressed to him I wanted something simple, but proceeded to hand me the flashiest ring and moved between us and several other clients. I barely got to try anything on. When I mentioned wanting a lower setting, he dismissively explained why I needed a higher one. The whole interaction lacked warmth or genuine interest in helping us find something special- it felt purely transactional. After an hour of feeling overlooked, we decided to leave. As we walked out, the man chased after us and asked why we were going. I explained we had somewhere to be and didn't expect to wait so long. His response? "I was just selling a $50,000 ring!!!"- in the most condescending tone. That moment confirmed everything we'd already felt. I was referred to Baida Jewelry by church friends and I purchased my wifes engagement ring and our wedding bands from Baida Jewelry in 2021, we were happy with our purchase and customer service at the time. This year was my in-laws 39th wedding anniversary so my father-in-law wanted to get my mother-in-law a special gift, so I recommend that he go to Baida Jewelry, assuming he would get the same experience and treatment I had. Regrettably I was wrong. My father-in-law purchased a platinum band with 8 Dimond Baguettes. The ring was a bit big on my mother-in-law and she went to exchanged it for a smaller size. She ended up with 3.1 carat Dimond ring purchased for about $6k. She wore the ring daily for a month until she noticed a crack in the center dimond. We were shock and surprised, how can a dimond crack without any accident, force or major impact? My Mother in law went to ask the professionals Baida Jewelry. It was a busy Saturday afternoon she had an appointment at 3pm. When she arrived she requested discreetly to speak to Eddie so we can resolve her dilemma, he was busy was headed out to a wedding but he said that his father, Mr. Baida will take care of us. So one of the workers led us down the hall to the room next door. Mr. Baida is usually very kind and hospitable however he had a Dr Jekyll or Mr Hyde moment! My mother in law asked him "How can a real Dimond crack?" .....at that point Mr.Baida, himself became angry and irate; he raised his voice at my mother- in-law and became very defensive and enraged that she would even ask that question, he yelled at her saying; he is very protective of his reputation and the fact we questioned the authenticity of the dimond ring my father-in-law purchased from them was offensive to him. He told my mother-in-law if you buy a Mercedes and crash it the next day do you take it back to the dealership and ask why it got damaged? That analogy was comparing apples to oranges. At that point my mother-in-law was spechless, sad, and deeply disappointed at the way Mr. Baida treated her and handled the situation. She couldn't not take that rude behavior any longer so she just left. Buying jewelry at baida is like playing a game of Russian roulette you will be either very happy or deeply disappointed. They kept saying we were like family however we felt swindled as soon as our purchase was complete, customer service and family love went out the window. No respect or care whatsoever. Unfortunately now every time both my mother-in-law and my wife look at their rings they don't think of the joy of celebrating a wedding day and anniversary but the sad way my mother-in-law was mistreated by Mr. Baida. He raved about how amazing the whole process of purchasing the engagement ring was. They educated him on the different types of diamonds and rings and worked within his budget to create the highest quality, perfect ring. We called ahead to schedule an appointment. Located in the jewelry district, there is parking in a structure for a fee just below the building. I believe we paid an $8 flat rate that day. While we were looking at the different wedding band options, they resized my engagement ring 1/4 a size down and cleaned it so that it sparkled just like the day I received it. They even gave us coffee and cake pops. What great customer service! I am almost to the point where it needs to be cleaned again... maybe I'll drop it off then go have lunch at Grand Central Market.
