I was so happy that they were able to get to our house so quickly. We are fixing a few things to get the house ready to sell. Walter was very personable and seemed knowledgeable, however...For two minor jobs that we authorized (removing sink faucet - NO replacement) and stopping a toilet from running (called a "major rebuild"), we were charged $725. These guys are just a bunch of salesmen looking to upsell. They arent plumbers and they dont know how to "fix" anything. They just want to replace. I called these guys out to replace my heat exchanger in my 5 yr. Old tankless water heater. The manufacturer sent the new heat exchanger and suggested it would take less than 2 hours to install. The tech Ed had a bad attitude and didn't even have any intention on providing the labor to replace the exchanger. He was trying to tell me it would be cheaper to replace the whole unit. I asked what the charge for the 2 hours of labor to replace the heat exchanger and he told me $1500. That's about $750/hr. When I finally got in touch with the manger Chris he told me that's the price and if I dont like it do it myslef. So, per Chris suggestion I will do it myslef and I will video the whole thing. Then I will post the video of a regular homeowner making this repair that Bailey wanted to charge 1500. What a joke and they don't even care to make the cusomter happy. Made appointments with this company two times. Both times they called one 30 mins before the appointment time that they can't make it because they have other clients to take care of!!! WTF!! Why do you make then appointments??! I had to take two days offs for that!! NO trust, no integrity! And they really did not care if they are losing a customer!!. read more

Bailey's showed up on a Sunday, and they evaluated the issue free of charge. That's the good news. They quoted almost $1000 just to try to clear our clogged drain issue. The repairman said he'd have to destroy our toilet, and, even then, there'd be no guarantee of success. Additionally, the technician required that we provide the location of the "clean out" for our house, so he could check the drainage there. So, we called another professional, who diagnosed the issue as a clog in the pipes between the upstairs and downstairs bathrooms. They tackled the drainage issue from our roof, and cleared the clog inside of a half hour. No toilet destruction, no lawn digging, just good work. Don't use Bailey's. read more

I don't normally do this, but I'm super frustrated and want every New Jersey homeowner to know about this. Last winter I called A. Bailey Plumbing and Heating to fix a pipe in our garage that burst. That was our fault for not properly preparing the garage pipe and spigot for winter. The technician came to our house very quick, which is normal from A. Bailey. He fixed the pipe and even bent the leading pipe from inside the house to the spigot to help with the draining of water. That was nice of him. Before he left he gave me instructions to leave the valve open on the spigot outside the house to let water drain out. Then to turn off the valve inside the garage and then inside the house. That way there is no more water reaching that spigot. And that way any remaining water with drain out and the pipe will not burst because there is room for expansion and contracting without breaking. The technician left the house with the inside pipes closed and the outside spigot open, as he told me to do. Not long after the same pipe burst. After much back and forth with the technician, they finally fixed their poorly done fix at no charge. Now it's over a year later. This past winter we prepared the pipe as instructed. There was no burst during the winter. It's not spring and we went to open everything up to use the hose. As soon as water touched that pipe, it burst. This time the burst was on the pipe they installed in place of the original 2 that broke. We called because it's the 2nd time their fix didn't work. After much back and forth I was told "I was being negligent" for not preparing the pipe for winter, although I did exactly as told. The technician said multiple times that I need to keep the valve open outside. Even though I kept telling him it was open. In fact, it's still open. It hasn't been touched since he "fixed it" last time. All I did this season was open the inside valves to let water out. So this technician from A. Bailey Plumbing and Heating basically called me a liar and negligent and refused to fix their poor craftsmanship. Once I said I will be leaving a negative review and notifying the BBB the technician hung up on me. So let this be a warning to all in New Jersey. A. Bailey Plumbing and Heating might be quick to respond, and they might have decent pricing. But avoid their bad business practices and poor "fixes" at all costs. Sorry to have to share this, but I've had enough back and forth with them. read more

It was a great experience from start to finish. Anthony was our service man who performed the installation of 2 new toilets for us. He was professional, prompt and courteous. I couldn't rave more about my experience with Baileys. This was my first time using them and will gladly refer them to everyone I know. The company is extremely professional with their scheduling and being on time. You're sent a picture of your technician before he arrives so you know who to expect at your door which is something I would appreciate for my elderly parents. Overall great job!! read more

ok here goes.. found out my heating system was not working.. called they came the next day.. after an $1100. 00 bill was working came back three days later guess wha t not working.. sent another tech out who was totally useless spent more time using my bathroom and smoking in his truck then trying to fix the unit terrible tech .. when he did i would bet money he had no idea what was wrong and he in my oponion destroyed the system oil leaking etc.. so guess what sysytem was destroyed.. and do to the cold weather i was stuck .. so next day two more techs came out and had to put in a new heating system.. they were good did the job but it cost me over 10000.00 . called them and complained but never called back.. stay away .. to many other companies out there who you can use !!! read more

I heard their jingle on my favorite public radio station while I was driving to the shore! For my 24th anniversary my missus wanted to fix up the bathroom and replace some pipes. On the phone the customer service girl was extremely polite and pleasant. The technician who came to do the job was so friendly and did the work fast and precisely! Have used this company a few times. I have questioned prices and charges for repairs. I'm convinced they are ripping people off. Get other estimates before using them. The next day, the crew arrived promptly and "dug in." With a few hours we were operational. They were incredibly clean and professional. They also communicated extremely well. If I could give a zero I would. Stay away!!!! Our water heater broke last week and leaked in our basement. I called these guys out. The price was extremely high. I went ahead and had them do the work because they could do it right away. The kicker is that they said my basement was full of mold because of the leak and my kids were in danger of being in the house. So they had a restoration company that they use who could come out right away. My insurance adjuster just left and said that mine was the 3rd house this week that he has been called to because of these two companies scam. He said that it could have been done with a shop vac and I was taken for a ride. So now I'm out of almost triple what it should have cost. I will be reporting them to the BBB... read more

I was having problems with my water heater. I called several different plumbing businesses in the area to get an estimate for repair/replacement. Although A. Bailey did not charge me to come out my home (like some businesses do), the plumber didn't make much effort to see if my problem was repairable. As soon as he heard the age of my water heater he diagnosed that it just needed to be replaced. I had already had other plumbers in to give me an estimate on repair/replacement so I was prepared to seriously consider replacing my heater, but NOT at the cost their plumber gave me. The plumber gave me an estimate of $1900 (not including permits) to replace my 40 gal. natural gas water heater. It was the highest estimate I had received from any plumber thus far. The plumber claimed that he would have to replace a bunch of pipes to bring it up to code. He also claimed that they used "plumber's grade" water heaters, which he boasted were "not the kind that you would get at Home Depot". Frankly I couldn't care less if my water heater was plumber's grade or not as long as it gives me hot water. I already had plans to call Home Depot, which I did immediately after this plumber left. They replaced my water heater for $1184 (including the cost of permit) with a 12 year warranty. I did have to get one valve changed to bring everything up to code, but that was only an additional $285. My total was almost $450 difference than what A. Bailey wanted to charge. A. Bailey's plumber didn't give any sorta breakdown as to how he came up with his estimate. It was like he just made it up on the spot. Fortunately, since I had already had other estimates and had done some research online prior to their visit I was immediately able to recognize that the estimate the plumber gave was outrageously high. read more

I've used baileys plumbing before and while I felt they were a little expensive, the speed and quality was good. After my most recent experience I wont use them again. Had an an issue with my furnace. A valve motor head had to be replaced. The part was charged at $446. It seemed high so I checked the internet and its $53. Of course they deserve an up charge on parts but even with a reasonable profit on the part nearly 10 times the cost? Tech was clean fast and friendly however, he tried up up-sell a furnace cleaning and replacement of other parts and the total bill would have been $1,200. Then I asked about replacing an outdoor hose bib. They did one for me a few years ago for $175. The quote now was $600? With a completely exposed pipe, easy to work on and in fact very similar to the last job. I am done. read more

I had a very unsatisfactory experience with A. Bailey, though it didn't start out that way. A. Bailey is a large franchise type operation with offices throughout New Jersey. They advertise heavily, man the phones 24/7 and then dispatch a local guy. As a result, they are usually prompt but expensive. My first call was met with a promise that they could dispatch a man within 3 hours on an emergency basis, and in fact, they did. The tech told me he identified the problem (a vacuum switch on a gas heater) and would get the part if I authorized the $565 repair bill. Wow! that's pretty high for pulling out one component switch and snapping in another, I thought. But I was over a barrel (no heat = no good) so I did. I got a call after it was installed from the tech himself, "Uh, I put the switch in and the heater worked fine, but then everything caught on fire because your leads were corroded". (He couldn't see that beforehand? Funny, those leads never caught fire before. Coincidence that they waited for you?) Long story longer, to fix the "new" problem he created would cost over $900. To replace the whole unit $9200. I said thanks but not thanks. What kind of plumber creates a problem while fixing another and then wants to stick you with the bill? read more

Not sure if this is the branch that came out yesterday to give me a free estimate since I called the toll free number. Anyhow, super fast service, they were at my house giving me an estimate in about 2 hours and they even called 10 minutes before arriving. Their quote is less or comparable to other quotes and they have a 1 year service guarantee. The guy Chris seemed very honest and was not trying to get me to fix more than I wanted. I am definitely going to have them come back to fix the plumbing issues in the house and will update the review after that. read more

Rip-off. They charged me $300 for changing a plastic tube that was leaking under my sink. The guy took 15 minutes to install $35 worth of Home Depot tubing. And he had the nerve to include a $10 gas surcharge. I wasn't home when it happened. Highway robbery. read more

i had a leak at bathroom sink. i used them before had no issue with them. had them replace about 10' of waste line off my bathroom sink only charged me $450.00 for about 2 hours of labor and parts. this time the bathroom shut off valve was leaking and was making mess of my basement so i called again. now the tech tell me i should change both valves and had them install a new faucet that i purchased. he told me 850.00 the valves only cost $10.00 each. i questioned the price he stated he does not make prices. i was in a jam so i had repaired. the tech took $100.00 off so it cst me $750.00. he leaves and starts leaking again. i called and complained new tech comes out and the supply line broken. that tech was awesome repaired no charge. when i question manager on phone about cost and what first tech said he stated the same thing about cost. so beware when you call them the price will be 3x the normal of a small family plumber. read more
