Baili Eatery and Lounge took over what used to be Pizza Pizza and Pheonix 2.0 - so sad to see them all go, but Baili is bringing a strong game with some fun signature Asian dishes with a twist. Currently soft opening, and they just got their LLBO license (yay!) My friends and I came here to celebrate a birthday as a group of 12. They split us into 2 tables of 6, which makes it easier to manage the orders. Here are some items we enjoyed at our table: - A silky soft blanket of scrambled egg with lobster - Mapo tofu pappardelle - Vietnamese style fried chicken wings - Sashimi-grade salmon ceviche - BOGO cocktails or drafted beer Cons: I had REALLY high hopes for the salted egg yolk tiramisu since everyone talked about it on social media. But it didn't turned out the way I had imaged it to be because I love saltiness and sweetness together! The salted egg was not prominent, and unforunately, it made the mascarpone cream grainy and not smooth like it should be. The mango sticky rice also needed a level up. The mango was definitely not in season (end of October), not sure who ordered it at my table lol. The sticky rice had no flavour - we did not end up finishing this dessert. Overall, great spot to hangout and drink with friends. I understand that the restaurant is still very new, and there are still kinks to work out. July 5/2025: Dinner with my Al. I'm my opinion this was terrible! We started with roasted peanuts with the skin on. I thought they'd be warm or hot but nope! Just $6.99 for a plate of peanuts! The mains were shared. Deep Fried Spicy Chilly Chicken ($21.99) which consists basically of chicken knuckles with very little meat. The spice was delicious but it includes whole red chili's, which were a little over the top for hotness. Second was the Skewer Platter ($24.99). It was chicken knuckles, beef, pork. Good but lacked any real quantity of protein & was disappointing. Finally the last was the Yang Zhou Fried Rice ($15.99). This was the best of the dishes & the only one we fully finished. Service was good & fast but there was a mild language barrier. The menu itself was only available online so we missed some subtitles of said menu. We were the ONLY customers in the restaurant when we arrived. This is more traditional Korean Food & was definitely NOT to our liking. Mostly it came down to what we thought vs what we got. I visited Baili expecting to have fusion food, but the menu may have changed because what I got seemed to be Chinese food, which reminds me of spicy flavours from Sichuan though maybe it isn't exactly that type of cuisine (spicy and numbing peppercorns, if you're into it). We ordered the spicy beef, assorted skewers, corn ribs, and finished off with a salted egg tiramisu. The menu seems kind of inconsistent and unfinished from when we went a few weeks back. Even ordering some menu items was a challenge, as it was only in Chinese, and we had to use Google Translate to understand what they were. It definitely did not feel like a full fusion restaurant, but more like a Chinese restaurant with a few items that were a bit more Westernized, like the corn ribs and a couple of dessert options. There was a ceviche option (we didn't order it), but it was really just sashimi cut into chunks, not the delicate, thinly sliced ceviche some might expect. However, the main thing that really drew me in was the salted egg tiramisu! It's a good tiramisu, don't get me wrong. However, I hardly tasted the salted egg component, it very well could have been a regular tiramisu, as the salted egg flavour was really subtle that I was questioning whether there was salted egg in there. We eventually did find the salted egg layer. The assorted skewers and corn ribs were tasty and I would recommend. The Hunan spicy beef had good flavour and also recommended by the waiter but was a bit too intense. Keep in mind, if you don't like coriander or think it tastes like soap, there is a ton stir fried in. It wasn't really to our taste preference in terms of spice level because there were a ton of numbing peppercorns in it, it was like eating a landmine trying to dodge them. We brought it home, and I picked out the zillion peppercorns and stir-fried the beef with some eggplant and a touch of sweetness and it worked so well. The menu left me a bit confused and unsure how I feel about this restaurant overall, as there wasn't one signature dish that made me feel like I had to revisit for it and of course getting burned with the peppercorns wasn't the best either especially when we mention less spicy but we should've specified less numbing (we didn't know it would be numbing though). read more

Baili Eatery and Lounge is still at the soft opening stage where Phoenix Restaurant 2.0 North York used to be. Alcohol is not ready yet as they are waiting for their liquor license. The menu is divided into six sections: cold, raw, hot, grill, starch and sweets. I am not hungry enough to order items from all sections. But I did enjoy the style salmon ceviche, that was refreshing, a good balance and open up my appetite! A tangy flavour but not too sour. Great appetizer. The lobster with soft scramble egg, the lobster, you can tell it's frozen lobster but to be fair this price point I wasn't expecting fresh lobster, the egg was a little bland but sweet at the same time so you will have to eat the lobster and egg together. From the grill section, I ordered the rendang curry chicken skewers, I did not like the marinade, the curry was on the sour side. This dish I will not order again. Overall, nice and quiet ambiance and interesting items, very nice service, the waitress keeps refilling our water and cleaning the table for us. The salted egg tiramisu is a must try. Unique and delicious! I will be back to try other items. read more

A modern Chinese fusion cuisine on Yonge street. Ceviche Shrimps' a rare find and incredibly delicious; Truffle Fried Rice is cooked to perfection with generous chunks of lobster; Steak is tender pairs amazingly with the crispy fries and black pepper sauce; Never heard of a combo of Salted Egg Yolk and Tiramisu before, but it's a surprisingly great twist. We love a good Asian fusion spot! We got their shrimp ceviche, Caesar salad, filet mignon, lobster pasta, wings, and stir fried beans to share. Our dessert ended with the apple ricotta which came with butter cookie crumbles, which was definitely a highlight. Service was attentive, and they came often to refill our water and change our plates. The ambiance is chill with minimal decor, but the food is definitely the highlight.
