I liked Poong Moon, but not so much for my family, as they found the jjajangmyeon lacked some flavours compared to other restaurants (perhaps the umami kicks), even though it came with a nice slice of grilled pork belly on top. The yuringi was good, although we would like them more as cutlet slices (a whole cutlet fried and cut after being fried) than how they were served as thigh nuggets. It seems that freshly cut slices would soak up the sauces better that way. Overall, I don't think the food was bad at all, but it's just that sunny Dragon, 5 minutes' drive away, set the bar too high. But this time, we did dine in and had their jjamppong with both the meat and seafood, the tangsuyuk, and the cucumber salad. The service was a bit slow (I think there was only one person) and we were sat at the back so it was a bit harder to get their attention. It took a bit to take our orders, then the food came and the portions are huge. The tangsuyuk was very tasty and had a good ratio of meat. Poong Moon is a late night spot that's great for bringing friends, and if you're looking to have some drinks. There aren't many spots at the plaza for parking, but you're able to park your car by the streets at the neighborhood beside (after 5pm on weekdays). I was also thrilled to see they were projecting anime on the wall, and also have a cool manga wallpaper inside the bathrooms. We opted to try their signature Black Bean Sauce noodles, as well as their Beef Champong which you can substitute for rice option instead of noodles. The food took alittle long, around 15 mins to come, but it was definitely worth the wait. The black bean noodles were delicious, and definitely very generous on the sauce - I couldn't stop slurping it down! I was also surprised with the Champong. The soup was very tasty & flavourful, with lots of beef inside, but also surprised to see a good amount of seafood as well. We ended up getting the jajangmyun (black bean noodles), beef champong (has beef slices and seafood), and the cream champong along with a tang su yuk (meat dish). All of the noodle dishes are the same noodle base but you can request for rice noodle or rice instead. Food came out fairly quick. Overall the noodles were decent. I liked the thickness but would have preferred if they were cooked slightly less. Just borderline in the about to be mushy category. The portions were really big and each bowl was very flavourful. I would not say they were too spicy. The seafood comprises of squid rings, mussels, some clams, and shrimp. The beef and the cream one were a little salty for my taste but still decent. First time trying champong! Due to supplier issues, they did not have any of the red champong. I got the seafood white champong which had very flavorful broth and of course seafood including really small oysters, squid, and a good amount of shrimp. The broth was flavourful and the noodles were slightly chewy which I enjoyed. There was an abundance of nappa cabbage (I believe) and a lot of onions. Even though I'm not a huge fan of onions, they had a carmelized/charred apperance and taste so it definitely made the dish taste better. I did want to try their spicy red champong but there were some jalapenos in mine so that added a nice kick. My friend got the cream champong and she liked it as well but did say the broth was a bit too heavy for her liking. I also got the jajangmyeon to go for my sister and she enjoyed it. Limited parking space makes it challenging to park at this restaurant, with only enough room for approximately 5 cars and minimal space to navigate. A better option is to park at Centerpoint Mall and walk over, which takes around 10 minutes. The restaurant has six tables that can seat about 20 people, and the decor is basic. Poong Moon is famous for its Champong, so we decided to try it, along with Jajamyun and Tangsuyuk. We opted for cold water and were served yellow pickled radish (Danmuji) with our meal. The Jajamyun arrived first, followed by the Tangsuyuk and then the Champong, which we ordered in cream flavor to try something new. All the dishes were presented in traditional Chinese-style red tableware. The Jajamyun was excellent, with no complaints about the presentation, taste, portion, or price. The Champong, a slightly expensive dish, came in a larger portion and was a signature dish of the restaurant. It was served lukewarm and was slightly on the saltier side. It was definitely not soup you could drink. Although it had a creamy carbonara-like taste, the soup base could have been spicier, thicker, and less salty. The saving grace was the amount seafood it actually had (shrimp, squid, mussels and baby octopus). The Tangsuyuk, a classic Chinese-Korean dish of crispy fried pork coated in a tangy sweet and sour sauce, was nicely presented with the pork arranged in a neat pile and topped with red cabbage and fresh red onions. However, the taste was average. Overall, the dishes were displayed beautifully but all served lukewarm and did not meet my expectations based on previous reviews. I was recommended the Beef Champong, spicy soup with beef and vegetables which still had a fair amount of seafood inside. Just finished posting about a Korean cold noodle place, that promptly helped me think about this place. The champong (seafood noodle) and black bean noodles are so tasty. A friend recommended this to me. I would always see this place in side of my eye while driving on Yonge St. With her recommendations I turned into the plaza and got treated to a foodie adventure.
