Baird's Dry Cleaners have been in business since 1916. They have three locations in the Treasure Valley. At one point, they had five, but two have since closed. Due to changes in the type of clothing people purchase today, much of which does not require dry cleaning, demand for this service has decreased. Still, it's important to be able to identify a good dry cleaning service for when you need it. I recently visited a competitor who quoted me $66 to clean a short wool coat, and a pillow case. It had been a while since I had the need to get anything dry cleaned, but that seemed steep to me. I went to Baird's, who quoted a price close to half that amount. Needless to say, I chose Baird's. They did an excellent job! In addition, the customer service was excellent and my items were ready on time. I will definitely be using Baird's for all my future dry cleaning needs. read more

Some billing problem on their end resulted in a stupidly high bill and when I asked for clarification and supporting paperwork, the manager told me they would charge me for copies of the invoicing paperwork (that they screwed up and never gave me in the first place). If I could give less stars, I would. This place is an absolute disaster. I brought 4 fur coats in and they ended up taking over 2 months to finish. Absolutely ridiculous. I'm really upset with myself that I didn't read prior reviews about things getting ruined as well, I would've never come here with the antique coats. I don't even know how they're still in business. They're honest. I scuffed my bridal shoes practicing dancing before the wedding. I took them into the plant location on Fairview. They took the shoes and five minutes later brought them back and said, "We've tried several things but there's nothing we can do. Take them home, don't worry about it, and enjoy your wedding." A lesser dry cleaner would have taken them, taken a good chunk of money, and perhaps ruined them completely in the process. I buy customer service first, and though I've never actually been a customer, I can attest to the neighborly nature of the people at Baird's. Finding wire hangers in a store, i.e.- Walmart, had proved to be more of a challenge than I'd expected. So I called Baird's, and asked to buy a dozen. The lovely Nanette answered, invited me to stop by between 7a and 3p, and said she'd be able to help. When I arrived, she handed me a handful, after giving me the option of two colors, and charged me nothing. The next time I'm in Boise, all my dry cleaning will be done at Baird's. read more

*BEWARE* I dropped off my down comforter at the Overland location and was told it would take 2 weeks. They sent the comforter to the Fairview location. When I came 2 weeks later to pick up my comforter they said it had never come back to the Overland location and that it was "still processing" and they needed time to locate it. I spoke with Brandy from their billing department. After week of her "looking" for my comforter she asked me for another week to try and locate my comforter. Now as of today October 11th i hadn't heard from anyone all week. I called the Fairview location in the morning and the phone was quickly picked up and hung up on, called the Overland location and was told they would leave Brandy a message. I hadn't heard anything so I called Fairview again and finally got Brandy on the phone. Brandy told me they were unable to locate my comforter that they lost. I said I need to be reimbursed for it. She said they would give me $63 for it! I had told her the first time I spoke with her that it was a wedding gift. She said that even though it retails for $319 it had devalued over the years and $63 is all they were willing to offer. If I could give this place zero stars I would! Bairds is too expensive and they take too long to get your clothes back to you. I'm accustomed to Zips, which started as a local company in MD and has become a chain in the Mid-Atlantic area. I can get my suit in my 9:00am, have it back by 5:00pm the same day and the cost is less than $5. Bairds wants almost three times as much ($14.60) and 3-5 days to get my suit back to me. They also charged $12.55 to clean a little polyester dress. It's crazy. I couldn't believe I paid ~$27 for a job that would have cost me about $7 at Zips. There are also so many horror stories online about Bairds losing or ruining items and ignoring customers' requests for a resolution. I won't be doing business with them anymore. read more

They are HORRIBLE!! I was yelled at after they lost my $200.00 sweater and told me that what I turned in was what I was getting back. The only thing that was similar was the color. Amber should be fired for her treatment of me. They may not care about losing one customer but if she and Bairds keeps treating their customers they way they did me, they'll lose a lot more than just one. They are efficient, they are upfront with their prices, they have often repaired holes or buttons without being asked and without charging, and when we ask for fast turn around times they have always delivered. DO NOT USE! Baird's shrunk my comforter 4 months ago. I sent it back to be stretched and analyzed and the owner never could follow up with me to let me know what was happening. I specifically asked that she handle it more professionally by calling me to let me know the status of my comforter. She never did. Every time it was sent back, I had to call and follow up. She claims that it now measures its original size, which it does not; it still does not fit my bed. After 4 months of back and forth it's obvious she is not going to stand behind her mistake. Have used this location for 20 years. They do real good cleaning. However, my experience with their alteration services has been extremely poor. 2 out of the 3 times I tried to use it the alterations were not done at all although I had prepaid for the service as they required. The other time I (middle try) the alterations were completely wrong. My opinion, get alterations done elsewhere. OK for cleaning only. read more

I've been using Baird's laundry service for several months to take care of my dress shirts. I am now looking for a new option. They routinely use over-heated presses that leave my shirts shiny or blackened. I've had to take several shirts back as they had residue on them from who knows what. Wrinkles and creases have also ruined a few shirts. Each time I have an issue, I am talked to as though I'm a child - they have an excuse for everything. I was recently informed that shirts can only be laundered 25-30 times before they will fade or have other issues. This, after being told at the start, that their process is gentle and won't cause them to wear out any sooner than normal. If I have 10 dress shirts, that means I'm replacing them every other year - which is half to a third of the life of when I care for them myself. Bottom-line, if you want your clothes to last, don't use Baird's laundry service. read more
