Stuck in the back corner of a gas station. Unwelcoming. Dirty floor and surfaces and not looking very "fresh." This particular visit, at 11:45am (I can be a bad-experience-repeat-offender) .. We should've turned around and left when we walked in and it was 90 degrees and only one person was working. The worker was nice enough, however when we tried to pay with a gift card, he didn't know how to use it and had to call someone. We had two cards with balances and so we used the balance up on one and wanted to use the other card. After being checked out we checked the receipt for the balance of the new card and discovered that a $12.13 gratuity had been added to the order for a $37 total for two meals. We asked why that was on there and he had to call the manager again. She told him she couldn't reverse it and we could order more food (shady), when we refused we were told we could get it back in cash. We ordered two fajita plates, one was shrimp and one was steak. On the way home, the shrimp smelled pretty strong and when we opened it at home it was very strong smelling and we were uncomfortable eating it. Each of us tried to eat the food and it was the most tasteless food I think we've ever had. We used to go to Baja Fresh in Modesto all the time and we're extremely disappointed with how bad this one was since it's so close to our new house. In the end, we ordered food elsewhere and are on our way to pick it up now. Do yourself a favor and go to any other Mexican place we've tried in Folsom thus far. read more

What the hey happened to this place?!? This will be my absolute last time going here!!! I remember this restaurant used to be one of my go to favorites...the one that used to be off Prairie City Rd. They have since closed and replaced by something else. But their food was really fresh, flavorful and good! I've tried to like this location but every time I eat here, I am disappointed. I've been getting more and more disappointed with each return visit! This recent visit caught us in a bind for time. I got the baja chicken burrito and nachos. The guacamole on the nachos was old tasting. The nachos was just blah. Their salsa didn't even help things out either! I tried the red mild one and that lacked any flavor profile. DO NOT GO HERE. If you do - don't plan on good service or even mild courtesy! For heavens sake, don't go here planning on using a voucher from LivingSocial or one of the other similar discount deal sites. After purchasing a deal for the "Fiesta Platter", we called to ask how far in advance we needed to place our order. No one answered the phone. At all. Ever. Daunted, we decided to pursue other tasks for the day and call again the next day. We called no less than six times - AND left a message with a call back number. No one ever answered and no one ever called us back. Finally, the next day my husband ended up going in person to figure out what the hell was going on and to ensure we even had the right phone number. The employees were rude, disinterested in making things right, and point blank said, "the Fiesta Platter feeds 10. We don't keep enough food stocked to feed 10 people." Um. What? What if ten separate customers game in consecutively behind us wanting food? Would you turn, what, half of them away? Ridiculous! I understand that this is essentially a small catering order and needs to be ordered in advance - but if they don't answer their phone (or call customers back, at least!!) how are we supposed to make that order in advance? I am unimpressed. After wasting his time driving there, arguing with the employees, and driving back empty handed (I would have hoped they would at least have said, "we can't fulfill that order at the moment, but you can place the order now and pick it up ____" (in five hours, tomorrow, whatever!) but they flat out told him the ONLY way to place the order was via the phone number no one ever answers. Thankfully, LivingSocial refunded the full amount we paid with no problems and we were able to make other arrangements, but we certainly will never give this place our business in the future, discount or no. read more

I don't like writing negative reviews... But I felt I had to share my experience with this place from the other night because it was. Just. So. Bad. Let me just start off by saying that there was not really anything wrong with the staff- they were friendly... .enough. Though they seemed confused and somewhat irritated. The facility, however, left a LOT to be desired. The second we walked in, we were accosted by the smell of what I can only describe as.. Musty and urine-like. Not great. The next thing that was strange was that even though it didn't close for another 45 minutes, they had already taken away all the salsa and the floor mats were piled in the corner by the front. It was all very.. Strange... Not to mention everything was very dirty and the floors were sticky. The cashiers were nice...enough, but the food.. Was.. Disgusting. I've been to many Baja Fresh restaurants and this did NOT hold up to the standard. I ordered a burrito, enchilada style, and got a seriously awful looking burrito.. They just threw it on the plate. And there was little to no sauce. Needless to say I was extremely disappointed. The food was very gross, and I regret driving from Rocklin to get my Baja fix. OMG. That about sums it up. Employees were nice but I should have had a clue with the restaurant being empty at lunch. No lettuce to make a salad - although they said they could make a salad out of pico de Gallo..???? They said no guacamole was available then came to tell us they "found" some... If I could give no stars, I would. I stopped to grab my son a steak quesadilla for lunch. I was not impressed with the grungy physical appearance of facility. Tables were unwiped. Floor looked dirty. Fountain for sofas was non-operable (found out after paying for my soda). I ordered steak quesadilla and specifically requested no sour cream. My teenage son and I laughed out loud when I opened the container at home. I'm not kidding, a solid cup of sour cream filled one of the container's reservoirs. If I'd read Yelp reviews earlier I wouldn't have gone to Baja Fresh, but as it happened I dropped in when I happened to be in the area. I was amazed at how much taco I got for $1.99 on Taco Tuesday. Came in on a Groupon. It said 2 Taco, burrito, or salad meals for 13 bucks! Good deal right? Wrong I told him I wanted the taco and burrito so he charged an additional 11 bucks. Still not a bad deal for two people right? Wrong! They failed in every way. soda machine did not dispense sodas correctly - way too week. The chips were made with old grease, yuck. The taco was burned so bad it was bitter and it was cold. Onions had that taste like they were sitting around- gross! salsa bar tasted as though it was starting fermentation. The one thing they got right was the carnitas burrito which was full of meat, avocado, and good salsa! Yummy. Bottom line. Order burrito, get drink from gas station. Get out! Or Go to another Baja Fresh location because usually it's good food! update. April 25, 2017 I believe in redemption! And boy did this restaurant do that with us! I should qualify this by saying that I go to Baja Fresh a lot in SoCal. There used to be a great Baja in Folsom by Intel that closed. I was hopeful when I saw this re-opening. But, I should have gone to the one in Roseville to meet my craving. -- one worker -- in a gas station -- out of Salsa Verde & Salsa Baja -- had a big debate w/ the girl about ordering an extra side of chips. She said it wasn't possible if I'd ordered food. Clearly she hasn't eaten other Baja's. -- chips had been in the warmer too long. It's pretty new I think. It's not it's own place, it's actually connected to the 76 Gas Station (was previously a Chevron). Kind of hidden back there, it's to the right side of the 76 station (if facing it). If you're not familiar with Baja Fresh, it offers similar fare to Chipotle. Taste is of course subjective, but I prefer Baja over Chipotle. Folsom previously had a Baja Fresh very close to Intel, but the employees obviously didn't care, made crappy food, and it ended up closing. My experience here was much different. The food was properly prepared, looked good (burrito was wrapped perfectly) and it tasted good. Only complaint is that the hot salsa was not hot enough. There was something in my drink so the told me I can get a drink from the gas station. When I got the drink at the gas station it was full of ants. Good thing I got a Sprite because I can see the little black speckles shooting in my cup. They again they were nice and got me something bottled from the gas station. Explain them I was so disgusted of the situation I just lost my appetite but they refused to give me a refund after they took my money. They gave me some story about them not being able to do it, an owner that would have to do it but shes never there. I gave them my information for the refund but they never called me. I wasn't surprised. I then followed up a couple weeks later and they gave me the same story. They basically stole my money because they received my money from my bank but I did not receive any food. I am seriously contemplating legal actions against them. There was only one girl working here who didnt have any personality and made us wait to order while she stood in the back. The food was clearly not fresh and she attempted to not put rice in multiple peoples orders while we were here because she didnt want to make more. UPDATE 7 HOURS LATER: Upset stomach, havent been able to stay off the toilet and have felt hot, sweaty and nauseous all day. I've only been to this location one time, so my good experience might be rare, but I doubt it. I called in my order first so I didn't have to wait. I got there and paid and my food was waiting for me in the warmer. They offered me as many chips as I wanted so I took two bags. Overall great experience. I came in to order a wahoo taco and a chicken burrito mexicano. There was only one guy running the place and he told me that they were out of the wahoo tacos and so then instead of that, I decided to get the chicken taco. The chicken was absolutely dry and flavorless and the taco didn't even have any onions on it. And then the burrito mexicano had no cilantro or salsa in it and they didn't even ask if I wanted hot or mild salsa on my burrito. Every Baja I have been to before this puts salsa and cilantro in the burrito and they put onions on the tacos as well. The chicken is also usually more flavorful. The chips were also kind of stale. This Baja is not like any of the other Baja fresh restaurants that I've been to. They also had a small selection of salsas in the salsa bar. They did not have any of those yellow peppers or any jalapeños. read more

My husband and I stopped here Saturday to grab a very late lunch and it was our very first time visiting this location in Folsom, CA. :) We both ordered the Gourmet Veggie burritos, which were SO good!! In fact, as I write my Yelp reviews, I've been craving for another burrito. *tummy rumbles* We also received bowl filled with tortilla chips, which were really good too!! And, I enjoyed trying out their various salsa's from their salsa bar. Upon driving to the restaurant to pick up my order at the time it was specified, the restaurant was closed. I assumed they would give my money back. I left a message with the restaurant, but had no response. I left a message with corporate, they responded, but did not follow up in a timely manner. I go to the Folsom location and the staff is always crazy busy but in good spirits and friendly, fast as they can possibly be and orders are always perfect. I came in here yesterday (4/13) after I tried calling in an order and I was told they weren't taking online orders due to being short staffed and they were working on a catering order. I was hungry & tired from training at my new job. Anyways, I drove there and stood at the register for 5 minutes. I could tell they were working on a large order, but not once did anyone welcome me or say anything. One lady kept looking up at me as I pretended to read the menu since I already knew what I wanted. There were atleast 3 people back there. I wanted to say something but I held my tongue. This used to be my old job and man have things changed. I just couldn't believe I stood there like an idiot thinking someone would actually help me. I walked away still hungry and tired and pissed off. They could have atleast told me they were closed due to whatever reason. I still can't believe not one of those ladies said anything to me. I'll never come back here after what happened yesterday. It's so sad Baja Fresh has decided to close most of their locations. The only true restaurant in the area is in Elk Grove. A bit odd but this location is attached to a gas station. I came on a Monday with a friend at lunch time. We were both craving a Baja chicken burrito and have no desire to drive all the way to Elk Grove. There was only one guy working....register and making food. Poor guy was slammed when we got there. We had to wait for quite a while for our food but that was expected when we ordered with the number of people in line and only one employee. The burrito was just okay. It satisfied our craving but I'm definitely missing the full restaurant locations. If they don't offer you chips, ask. The guy has them behind the counter and they have the full salsa bar. read more
