The food is decent, much like any other Baja Fresh location I've been to. The fish of the fish tacos is like a long lightly battered fish stick. It's nothing amazing, but it'll do. The esquites were on the dry and burnt side, which called for much more mayo than was already on there. The service was okay. I didn't know we get chips with our order and had to go back to the counter to request some. The chips are thin, crispy, and warm, which is welcomed. They didn't omit the pico de gallo from my meal, which I'd requested, but it didn't ruin my meal. The restaurant is bright and clean with plenty of seating. For a Mexican food place, it can feel a bit sterile, but that's the least of my concerns when I'm going for fast Baja flavors. read more

There are no freezers, microwaves, or lard used as well as other ways to keep the promise of their fresh food. Here's the main reason for having a meal here. The food is delicious and the menu lists the calorie count of the lowest food if you are interested. I had the chicken bowl. My daughter had the shrimp tacos with mango salsa, so I had the same salsa. . . DELISH!!! Oh, BTW, there is a nice assortment of various salsas available and those come free, for as many as you want. This place has gone down hill. I have ordered the steak burrito in the past and this is what I experienced most of the time : some of the pieces of steak would turn out to be chewy and just not edible by my standards. I would basically not eat the chewy pieces and enjoy the rest of my burrito - which was satisfying. This last time : ALL of the steak was chewy and just not edible. No matter how much I chewed , the steak would not break apart. I ended up spitting out the steak and just ate the beans and rice. So basically I paid for a $10 dollar bean and rice burrito. Gave Baja Fresh a try thinking the catering option for a family meal looked like a nice option. This was the most bland tasting food ever!!! We got the party platter so there was multiple things to choose from and the burritos were the only thing that had any flavor to them. We order here probably twice a month. Last week the cashier was dealing with an upset customer, as soon as the upset customer walked away he turned to us and started complaining to us about how the customer was an "asshole". He also told the customer "if you don't like it don't come back here, sir". Didn't bother me much, I don't know the whole story, but their was two little girls behind us in line with their parents. Today we went there and after getting our burritos, I asked for cilantro. The cashier Magda, says they were out. Like 40% of their menu items have cilantro in them, including the salsa they handed me. She just didn't want to go get it. It was not busy and their was 3 people working up at the front counter. This was my first time here and at any Baja Fresh. The salsa bar is a plus - they have all kinds- including pico de gallo and salsa verde. The food is fresh and the tortillas HOT. I was shocked at how hot they stayed even after 10 minutes the way they were wrapped. The food was good, fresh and hot but not anything "special." I had the chicken fajitas but after I saw a person with the steak- I wish I would have tried that. It wasn't that I didn't like my meal, I did - the steak just looked amazing. The rice was a little dry for my personal taste but still ok. The portion was more than enough - I could not eat it all, especially with the chips. I probably would give them three stars for the food but the service warrants the fourth star as does the 99cent "lifetime" refills if you purchase their plastic cup. I feel biased because I am a super fan of Chipotle. Similar but different. It would be great to merge some of the features together (salsa bar, free chips and drink selection). read more

Not the first time we've gotten our order messed up... today it was three kids in the kitchen. After I called about our messed up order the manager offered to remake my items and said they'd be ready in 10 minutes so I show up 15 minutes later to find out it was not ready. So I wait. They had about 6 orders on their screen with one guy in the kitchen (didn't know what he was doing) one on a little break and the manager waiting for the orders. The guy making our food was putting things on that we didn't ask for and when the manager said no no no the kid looked confused and said "I don't know what goes on it" and grabs a cheat sheet on how to make the tacos. Our original orders meat was barley cooked and had a salsa that was BLACK (not sure what that was). If you work in the food industry I think you should be considerate on how you're making people's food that they pay for. Very disappointed. We placed our order online from our hotel and arranged for curbside pickup. I received acknowledgment of the order and my payment. We drive to the parking lot a few minutes before it was to be ready. We sat there, and sat there. Nothing. Finally, my husband went inside to pick it up directly. Nobody there knew anything about the order. My husband spoke with the manager and placed our order again, only to wait again. They gave him one drink cup to fill. 30 minutes had passed since our pickup time. After talking to the manager a second time, he yelled at his guys about the status of the meals, walked to the prepping area, and started putting my meal together. We finally got our meal after watching others walk in, order, and get their meals. I asked where the second drink cup was that we paid for. We got the additional cup and picked up our food. The manager put an extra guacamole cup in the bag to make up for the delay. I asked if our sauces were in the bag. Nope nor were napkins. Very disappointed today. They sent an email saying there was free pronto guacamole if you bought an entree and were a rewards member. I ordered 5 entrees online and kept pressing the free pronto guacamole, but it did not allow me to do it. I finally just ordered my food and expected I could just get the free pronto guacamole when I picked it up. That was a big mistake of mine. When I went to the store, instead of seeing what I ordered and the email which I received and giving me a free guacamole, they would not budge for over 15 minutes. Finally I said I would make a complaint, and then they finally gave me a guacamole. This is such poor customer service. Yeah................ no. Well, I guess it's OK, but it's really not very flavorful. The salsas were so bland they literally tasted like water and the only thing I tasted in the steak burrito (nacho) was jalapeno. The quesadilla was terribly un-delicious. Prices are a little high, too, for the amount of food you get. The quesadilla (cheese) was $6 and was one tortilla folded in half. The "nachos" my son ordered consisted of a handful of chips, barely any cheese, and a few random tiny pieces of steak. And this was the 'grande'. This is a good place, it's not authentic mexican fare, but still pretty good. The burritos are tasty, the chips are a bit oily most times I go in, however when I ask for spicy I really get what i'm asking for in a good way. The staff is friendly, and the service is about the time and wait you'd expect to get your burrito made fresh, but well worth it. Went for dinner. I ordered a enchilada style burrito and my wife had a chicken tostada. We split a shrimp quesadilla and an order of con queso. When we ordered the counter person was blunt and rude and apparently couldn't hear either of us. We had a hard time understanding her as she spoke very fast and not very loud. When we got our to-go order we asked for mango salsa. Instead of a polite "we are out" or something similar we got "we dont have any" very rudely and very blunt. It was obvious she didnt like her job. As our order was being made she was laughing and talking like a very happy person, but not when she was at the counter. We got home and opened our food. Mine was absolutely nothing like the example shown on their site, and neither was my wife's. Mine tasted burnt and bitter, hers was full of romaine and some dark greens but the example looked like iceberg lettuce. Tried ordering online for Mother's Day, but I was unable to get promo code to work. I instead went into the store and ordered the Family Taco Kit which came with 12 tacos which was listed in the online menu. FYI, I now see this is no longer listed on their on-line menu. It stated the sides the tacos came with. After paying, they told me it only came with 10 tacos. I asked them to provide the amount of tacos and sides which were listed on the menu. After much insistence, they finally gave me the grilled vegetables. Again, I had to be very persistent to get the 12 tacos which were listed on the menu. After all this, I gave up on getting the rest of the toppings as I was physically exhausted from the interaction. When I got home, I looked online for the customer service number. I called and left a message. The manager of the store did call me the next day. He apologized for the incident and agreed the staff should have provided the items as stated on the menu in a willing manner. He said he would send me coupons for four meals of my choice to make up for the whole incident. He asked me to call him back when I received the coupons. I waited over two weeks and nothing came in the mail. I called the store and left a message for the manager to call me. I waited for over a week after that, and I never received a call back. I again reached out to the corporate office with an email and received an acknowledgement email. Yesterday, I received a letter in the mail from the Lancaster Baja Fresh store. Included were four coupons for one basic taco each. This was not at all what the manager said he would provide. I will let others decide if they wish to patronize this restaurant, but I value customer service and keeping to your word which did not happen. read more
