I honestly don't even know where to start because EVERYTHING was incredible. I ordered a dish with asada, lobster with buttery shrimp, rice, and salad, and wow... the flavors were unreal. The asada was perfectly cooked and tender, the lobster was rich and indulgent, and the shrimp were bathed in this buttery goodness that had me savoring every bite. We also ordered the agua chiles and they were amazing. Free and the right of spiceness. On top of that, the portion was generous and the price was AMAZING for the quality and amount of food you get. But what truly took this experience over the top was the service. Valerie is an absolute star. She was warm, attentive, and genuinely made us feel so welcome. Su servicio fue lo mejor. 2As if the food wasn't already enough, she surprised us with a free strawberry cocktail, and let me tell you--it was incredible. Fresh, flavorful, perfectly balanced... I'm still thinking about it. Outstanding food, outstanding service, and such great vibes all around. Baja Mar has officially earned a loyal customer, and Valerie deserves all the praise. My quesadilla that looked so beautiful required but one bite, and I knew something was not right. After a second try, I returned it. It was clear the shrimp was of poor quality, and was possibly poorly handled. It smelled and tasted horrible. Mr. B's garlic shrimp meal tasted the same way. He was brave and continued eating it. The only good thing was, no emergency trips to the bathroom afterwards. But his leftovers went straight in the trash after arriving home. He did not want to take a risk after that. Even the complimentary chips and salsa were disappointing. Neither light nor fresh, the hard tortilla chips deserved to be ignored. And the salsa had little flavor. I would not trust any of their seafood dishes after eating their shrimp. Pity, because it was a cute venue, but we would definitely not return. read more

The only reason I'm not giving this place one star is because the server was so kind (she had glasses). However, the food was BLAND and TERRIBLE. As a mexican it is so annoying and shameful when people open resturaunts and call it mexican food, anyone's abuelita would look down upon this restaurant, big yikes. The frijoles, my god, they tasted like a dirty rag, i honestly don't know how a mexican resturaunt can mess up frijoles, embarassing. The rice was suuuuper bland. The tortillas, definitely just some packaged tortillas tossed on the grill. Just please stop opening resturaunts if you're not gonna actually cook mexican food, the salsa was definitely from a can, you can tell... the horchata, TERRIBLE, it tasted like powdered horchata mix. Beans are bland, mojarra has no flavor, had to load it with lime salt and salsa and still couldn't even couldn't finish half , even salad with dressing was bad .a bag from stater brothers salad tastes better. Service is absolutely amazing! The workers are super nice & attentive constantly making sure if the food is great as well as checking to see if you may need anything. They had the standards: tamarindo, horchata, and the red one (I forgot the name). This is probably the near one I've had in a long time and it was pretty cheap too for the size.
