Went to Bakan for happy hour with coworkers and had a great time. I didn't try the food this time around, but the drinks definitely stood out. I had the spicy margarita, which had the perfect kick without being overpowering, and also tried the watermelon margarita, very refreshing. The vibe perfect for after-work drinks. Service was at the bar was great. I'll definitely be back to try the food next time.
I dined in at Bakan for taco Tuesday. The tacos were $5 each and had a pretty good selection of options to choose from. They do not serve chips and salsa for the table. We originally ordered the tuna appetizer, but the restaurant was out of it. We ended up choosing the ceviche as a starter, and it was very light and fresh. We're unsure what type of fish it was, because the server didn't know lol. I ordered one spicy shrimp taco, one Mahi taco, and one skinny chicken taco. The Mahi taco was definitely my favorite and the most flavorful. The skinny taco was served on lettuce instead of a tortilla. I was a little underwhelmed on the tacos. I thought for the price they would be spectacular, but they were pretty average. I really wanted to try the lobster and chorizo tacos, but they were not included on the taco Tuesday menu. I will definitely make sure to try those the next time I come here! The service was fairly quick, aside from missing a taco from our order. They got the missing taco out to us within a few minutes, and they regularly came by to clear our plates. We dined on the patio, but I did go inside to use the restroom at one point. The interior was very cool and vibey. There was a DJ playing and the music in the bathroom was extremely loud.
The skirt steak was tender and had a delicious wood-fired, "a la leña" flavor that I really enjoyed. I loved how fresh the guacamole tasted, and it paired perfectly with the beans and blue corn tortillas that came with the dish. I also liked the melted cotija cheese on top of the poblano because it added a savory touch. This is one of their signature dishes, and I would definitely recommend it. Service was friendly and attentive. The ambience varies depending on whether you sit indoors or outdoors. Outdoors, you feel like you are in Wynwood.
Met some friends after work. Didn't have a reservation but they wanted to hang out at the bar. At 5:00pm on a weekday it was not too crowded and there was plenty of nearby street parking. I really wanted to try the Nopales salad - cactus salad. I ordered it with grilled octopus. The nopales were very good and definitely different from anything I've had. I was expecting them to taste smokier. There was a light pickle taste to something else on the plate. Not sure if it was the nopales or a topping. It was served with half an avocado and two large, round tortilla chips. The octopus was devine and I only wish the piece was bigger. The prices are on the higher side but the food, drinks and service is excellent. The salad with the octopus as an extra plus tax and tip was $39.
The vibe is immaculate. If the weather is even remotely nice, do yourself a favor and sit outside. It honestly feels like you are being transported to Tulum. The food? Shockingly not overpriced for how legit it is. Start with the guacamole its a non-negotiable. It sets the tone and lets you know you're in very capable hands. My partner and I are still thinking about the Sera Melon cocktail. Honestly, it stole the show. Refreshing, balanced, and dangerously drinkable. I dropped my Classic Margarita and the staff graciously swooped in with a replacement. Zero judgment, only kindness. We ordered a couple of mole dishes, and wow deep, rich, authentic flavors that taste like someone's abuela is quietly running the kitchen in the best way possible. One of my favorite Wynwood spots hands down, and yes, I will absolutely be back. Also great for people watching lol.
One of the best tacos on town stopped in looking for good eats and saw this nice place as I walked by. At first I did not like the loud DJ playing good music very load making it hard to hear the waitress. Inside was ice cold, better to eat outside. Once I tasted the food it all changed. This place has definitely the best food around. The only small problem was on my bill for a party of 2 people they added a 20% tip with a not saying you could add more. The bottom line is the food is great.
This place is great if you're looking for good Mexican food in Miami! I've eaten both inside and outside. The outdoor seating is great when the weather permits. Service was great but nothing that is overtly exceptional. They have an extensive collection of tequila and mezcal for those seeking a restaurant with such options. Their queso is excellent but this time I did the los esquites (corn) which was fresh and delicious. For entree I had the mole verde. The mole had a great flavor and the sea bass was perfectly flaky with a good sear. Their tortillas are freshly made and fantastic. The table gets two salsas, one more mild (red) and the other more spicy (green). I enjoy the heat and the green salsa was phenomenal. I also tried the duck enchiladas. The flavor was good but I'm not sure I could have told you it was duck or not. Overall a great spot to visit and highly recommend if you're hankering for Mexican food.
Came to Bakan for dinner and was seated right away. We sat outside and it was a beautiful night with perfect weather, which made the whole vibe even better. The ambiance here is really nice and has that fun, lively Wynwood energy. We ordered the chicken quesadilla, which actually comes more like three tacos, and they were so good. We also got the short rib tacos and those were amazing too. Everything was flavorful, and well-seasoned. Overall, a great dinner spot with good food and a really nice atmosphere. I would definitely return.
This was the first stop in my totally unplanned Sunday Funday and I had zero regret! It was my first time having the food and I enjoyed every minute! We sat at the bar since there isn't a bad seat in the place with such a nice aesthetic. The bartender was friendly and helpful with explaining the menu. My son in law had the vegan bowl, my daughter the shrimp tacos, and I had the oxtail tacos. Everything was a 10/10! My daughter and I swapped a taco and ended up getting another order of the shrimp to share. They were my fav. For my drink I had Hugo spritz. Couldn't go wrong there. I'll for sure be back for those tacos!
Absolutely fantastic! This restaurant has it all, delicious food, excellent service and a great ambiance! One of the best grilled octopus I had eaten in a long time, perfectly cooked. The cocktails are amazing, full of taste and flavors. The bar attenders are fantastic! The service is top notch, restaurant manager Francisco and his team do great job at making you feel welcomed and provided excellent recommendations. Definitely give this restaurant a try, you won't be disappointed. Enjoy every bite, every sip!
We went on a cruise recently & had a day in Miami after the cruise, before we flew home. We went downtown & checked out Bakan. It was such a cute place! We sat outside & grabbed some drinks & an appetizer, just kind of hopping around to a few places. My sister ordered a Mojito & I ordered a margarita. The drinks were good. We ordered the Elote appetizer x 2 because we didn't know how sharable these would be. We were not prepared for this & have never had something like this before! The corn came out & it was the biggest kernels I've ever seen. I didn't even know they made corn like this. I'm not sure if it's because my brain couldn't wrap my head around this being corn, but some of us liked it but also thought it tasted a little bit like mac & cheese. It was just different. We also tried a sample of the guac with chips. It was really good! I wish the chips were actual chips instead of blue corn tostadas. I liked the aesthetics of this but I didn't feel like they were practical. We had them refill these "chips" three times because they only brought 4 out & there were 4 of us. Overall, we liked this place but didn't try actual food. Service was great.

Was a great place to drop into, we had passed it up once looking for a place to eat, came back and was lucky enough to find a parking spot, did not have a wait time, ambience is a little loud but what to expect, you're in South Beach, I ordered the enchiladas with Souza and cheese, was very juicy and taste was more than I expected. Service was excellent and very friendly, we ate in the outdoor area, they do have an inside area which is probably a little cooler and less noise from the disco next door, definitely a need to check out place. read more
I came here on a Friday night around 11 looking for food. I grabbed a bar seat and was quickly greeted by Donny. He politely introduced himself as my bartender for the evening and quickly got me water. Then I ordered a Bacardi, coke, and lime. Within 1 minute of sitting at the bar I had my water and a drink!! The drinks here are served in large glasses, so maybe there are a few more ounces in these drinks compared to neighboring restaurants. I ordered the chicken quesadilla, dorados chicken tacos and the churros. All of the food was delicious and came out fast!!! The highlight of the evening was the amazing service! Donny was so memorable, polite, and efficient. He may just be the best bartender in Miami. I will definitely be coming back! read more

What an incredible experience this was! Stumbled across this with my wife on a random outing in Wynwood and was pleasantly surprised! Miami and S.Fl is filled with Mexican restaurants of all different kinds, but has been lacking in upscale focused Mexican cuisine for some time. Bakan definitely fills the niche here. Whilst not completely upscale, Bakan offers a really nice and focused menu with some dishes you'd never find at a regular Mexican restaurant. Not to mention their HUGE collection of mezcales! Bakan is quite the experience. They also offer a menu of insects, yes, insects. Which I found to be quite interesting. Our server Kevin was absolutely incredible and had an immense knowledge of the menu, and the mezcales going as far as to create a custom sampler of mezcal for me and gave me a free side of the fried grasshoppers to go along with it. It was excellent! My wife had the mango margarita that was also delicious, she subbed the mezcal for tequila and they accommodated her request no problem! To eat we ordered the enchiladas enmoladas and I ordered the skirt steak platter. My only complaint here was that I wanted the steak medium and it came out more medium well :/ still everything was delicious! I definitely recommend dining here and trying out their menu. read more
*5 stars for having a fantastic michelada alone.* No but really we were pretty happy with this place. I've always avoided the restaurants in Wynwood worrying it'd be a fight to get a table, fight to get good service, and mediocre food. But I was pleasantly surprised with Bakan. The experience and food matches the beautiful ambiance very well. We interacted with 2 servers who were extremely professional and friendly. I was super impressed. Then the menu was the perfect amount of interesting to leave you with several yummy sounding options. They even had an insect portion of the menu if you're feeling adventurous ;) It was a really great touch that they have 2 types of delicious salsa and a bowl of flaky salt at the table. As someone who loves to "customize" each bite lol. We ordered the guacamole with homemade tortillas and it was pretty good. The purple corn tortillas they make came with basically every dish we ordered. I wish they had a bit more variety in the chips as they were a little stale tasting and one was burnt. Honestly I only came to this restaurant because I searched "michelada" on Yelp and I saw they had 3 options that all sounded good. I ordered the Clásico Michelada. It was really REALLY good. They gave sooo much mixer in the glass which I freaking love. And somehow by some kind of magic it tasted deliciously balanced to the very last drop of the beer?? It didn't taste diluted at all. I never experienced that but was so happy. For entrees we ordered the duck enchiladas and the zucchini flower quesadilla. The entrees were massive. I loved the pleasant surprise of how generous they were with my quesadilla serving it with black beans, pico de gallo, and guacamole. Come here on a quiet day and you won't be sorry! Share entrees if you can so you aren't left with half eaten dishes like us!! read more

Fabulous mexican restaurant with an incredible vibe we only went for drinks, and they where the best, sat at the bar we felt welcome and comfortable, the bartenders were excellent, this place has good music, nice people, ambiance, chill vibes. My cousin (a local) recommended we meet at Bakan before a visit to the Wynwood Walls and he couldn't have picked a better spot. Both the staff and the food were outstanding. There's lots of paid street parking as well as a few lots around the area but it wasn't hard to find a spot quickly. Upon arriving we were promptly greeted at the host stand in front of the patio - which was packed and very lively. I opted for indoor seating because I love air conditioning. We started with the guacamole which was so fresh and chunky. Instead of regular chips, they have larger blue and white fried tortillas that aren't as salty so the flavor comes out. Then we shared the delicious carnitas tacos. They are street tacos but still filling. My mojito was smooth and just sweet enough with tons of fresh mint. My cousin and his friend also shared the rib eye steak that came with a cheese stuffed poblano pepper, roasted corn on the cob a giant scallion, guacamole and soft tortillas for making your own tacos (think fajitas but fresher). Bakan has an open kitchen area and a glass wall of wine and spirits to go along with the great decor and even better food. It would be worth the drive from Coral Gables even if we hadn't planned an afternoon at the Wynwood Walls (10 minute walk at most). I highly recommend Bakan - a great place to hang out and enjoy inspired food and drinks. read more

My husband and I came to Bakan on a Saturday night. We sat at the bar and were provided amazing service. Our drinks and food came out quickly and were absolutely superb. Literally everything we ordered tasted amazing. The churros were to die for! We will definitely be coming back to Bakan when we are in the area. Highly recommend! read more
We were visiting from the Northeast to escape the winter weather and came across this place. Perhaps the best happy hour in Wynnwood? Half off cocktails from 4 to 7 PM. Their cocktails including house margarita are straight fire. This place goes hard on Mezcal with over 300 options. The food is comfort Mexican and very well done. Wait staff very attentive. We enjoyed the spot so much went twice within 24 hours. Will definitely visit again next time we are in town! read more

I visited Bakan while I was in the Wynwood area. This Mexican restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor seating. The outdoor section has a great ambiance, making it a great choice for large group dinners. During my Friday night visit, I experienced a 20-minute wait for a table since I did not have any reservations. The hostess and waitress were fantastic, they were very friendly and accommodating. I ordered the rib eye tacos and the guac. The food was great and it came out pretty quick. read more
I made a reservation here for 7:45PM for 6 people. We were seated quickly upon arrival. We ordered guacamole with chips, flan, churros, watermelon margarita, mezcal Moscow mule, and all of us got different enchiladas. Service was great. Food and drinks came quick and were delicious. Yum !!!!! Everything here was so good- overall experience 10/10. Came here for lunch while walking around wynwood and wanted to sit somewhere outside. The indoor seating was also cool like classy jungle vibes. They let us put the umbrella down so we could get some sun which was nice and most of the outdoor area is covered. Service was quick and to the point- not overly friendly but got the job done. The tuna tostada had great flavor with a light and crispy tostada. The salsa's they give you for the table are also good on it (and the tacos)! We also had the carnitas tacos that came with a side of black beans. I'm not a beans person but they were SO flavorful I would definitely get them again. Lastly, the drinks. The spicy margarita and michelada were made perfectly and so refreshing. Spicy mart definitely had some spice! I saw lots of tables ordering the guacamole- huge bowl of guac and chips- I will definitely be ordering that next time as well! Can't wait to return. read more
Bakan is excellent! I had seen this restaurant many times in wynwood & the decor on the patio is super inviting. I tried Bakan for lunch with some friends and I'm so glad I did. For drinks, I had the Tulum vibe which was recommended by my server and it was great. We started with the queso fundido which was served with blue corn tortillas. Cheese was fresh and very appetizing. The star of the show was definitely the Usda Choice Skirt Steak. Perfectly cooked and seasoned steak served with sides of guacamole, retried beans, corn, a poblano pepper filled with cheese as well as blue tortillas to make tacos. I loooved this dish everything about it was wonderful. I'm already thinking about the next time I'm going to come back lol. Great place to eat in Wynwood! There is a lot of natural light and seating in the restaurant. The staff was friendly and attentive. We tried the enchiladas with duck; it was good, but I felt like the meat was a bit dry. The ceviche was delicious especially with the tortilla chips, which I believe are house made. read more

Appetizers were amazing! Ordered ceviche tostada (3) with fish of day was corvina and chips + guacamole for table! In retrospect one of these would have been enough but we were hungry. The three trio salsa: regular, habanero and green were delicious! The enchiladas were by far best! The steak had excellent flavor but in retro spect the higher quality steak would have been better as the flank was a little lower quality for a steak plate. read more

Food and service was amazing!!! I loved how all of the staff was walking around with a smile. The food was absolutely amazing! I had the Tacos de Short Rib and it was so tasty! Our party of five our party of five came here for Sunday brunch. In truth, we came only because it had just opened and there was plenty of seating available, as opposed to some other spots in the area. However, it was such a great find! The menu has some unique food options, especially for the brave! You can try grasshoppers or one of the other "bug" dishes. Nobody at our table was up for that, but we all enjoyed our food immensely. The guacamole is excellent, and the fresh fish ceviche was a great light option for brunch. On my next visit, I will most certainly be ordering the Lobster Tacos. I love that Bakan has some great paleo and pescatarian options. I can't remember the name of the drink I ordered, but it was a frozen Mezcal drink, and it was OUTSTANDING! Super refreshing and light. By the time we left, the place was pretty packed, and I understood why. I would definitely come back here if I was in the area. read more
5-star food, 5-star service, 5-star ambience. A new-ish Wynwood Mexican place with a laid-back hip vibe. This food was off-da-charts papi! (that's my odd way of saying incredibly good). The grilled octopus was terrific, and ranked up there with a cafe in Cozumel that grilled it right by the Gulf of Mexico. Their variation on Mexican street corn is also among the best I've had. The menu leans on Yucatan regional food, but has a lot of pan-Mexican favorites too. Service was also terrific. For a very hip place in Wynwood, there was no trace of Miami 'tude and they were very welcoming and friendly. The front desk even joked about us looking a little haggard (we had just biked over from Miami Beach...ha, what jock boys! : ) Our server was also friendly and very very on-the-ball. Ambience here is what really seals the deal on the favorite Mex place category for me. The architecture is sort of a high-style open pavilion with cool art and decoration. On a nice day it feels very much like eating outdoors. Wynwood is always fun for the every-day-is-Halloween people parade too (hipster grandma with Mr Magoo glasses buying art, followed by club kid wearing fuchsia hair/clothes, etc) read more
The wait was over 1.5hrs with reservations. Service was slow but our waiter was good but indoor seating was not clean. Chairs and seats are super low. Chairs had stains on all of them. Wow!!! Amazing!! Let me tell you if you are in the Wynwood area definitely, absolutely stop in and eat here. This food is amazing. Service is spectacular. The vibe is high energy and the decor is outstanding. Stopped in for lunch with 6 of us. They sat us right away. Mike our server shared his recommendations, all were excellent by the way and we ordered our drinks. Sera Melon, Sera Sandia, The Wall and a Paloma. Sera melon was sweet. Made with Mezcal and fresh watermelon juice. So tasty. The wall made with pineapple juice and mezcal with fresh lime juice and a little smokeyness. The food was even more amazing. From the Queso Funido, melted cheese with chorizo. Los Esquites(street corn). AGUACHILE DE CAMARON CON MANGO FRESCO. So fresh. It was very refreshing and light. The homemade blue corn tortillas are muy muy bueno. The ENMOLADAS DE POLLO was excellent. Great mole. Dark and rich. Very flavorful one of the best I have ever had. Carnitas Prensadas. I love carnitas. And I will say I have had it at so many places. And this is the Best!! The best Carnitas hands down I have eaten. So tender and flavorful marinated pork Excellent. Then to end it have the cheesecake made with goat cheese. It was perfection. Great food. Again the service is awesome. Mike our server took great care of us. All the staff is friendly and attentive. Went for lunch. Great service. Thought it was a little weird that they brought out salsa with no chips. Lemonade with limes was really good. Tortillas were house made, gluten free and SO GOOD. Coming from the north this was a treat. The tacos I had were really tasty and just the right amount of spice. Outdoor patio has a great aesthetic and is covered. It was a sunny Thursday and I was happy to be out and about. The last few days had been cold so I was throwing big baby bitch fits left and right. Went to the Design District to explore and I walked into this beautiful open space. Nice feeling since I'm visiting from NYC. Already off to a great start, I was greeted by my server who was also from NYC (his name began with and "E" and he was amazing). I'll start this review with the service because it was the best part. Naomi was our server and she was great. Super attentive and great attention to detail and make the whole experience amazing, I'm definitely coming back. The food was so delicious! We got the Guacamole and aguachile as starters and it did not disappoint. For our main course, we did two Caesar salads with steak and octopus and a mole with juicy chicken breast. Lastly, the drinks are crazy good especially the watermelon spicy margarita and mezcal so it margarita. Everything was amazing and they were all super accommodating! I'd recommend Balkan to anyone that's in the mood for food service, food and ambiance. read more
This restaurant is Mexican food with a twist. The place is beautiful situated is a corner street in Wynwood. It offer both outdoor and indoor seating with beautiful decor and we were lucky to have Allison as our server who was superb. She was friendly, always attentive and made sure we had our food in time in order to make it to our museum entrance time close by. She is awesome. We ordered blue corn tortillas with guacamole and black bean. It came with goat cheese which for me was a bit over powering but otherwise good. Then I ordered chicken enchiladas with mole negro. They were of good size but it had goat cheese so again over powered the taste of the mole and I love mole. So I scraped off the goat cheese. It is not spicy for those people who don't like it spicy but for me had to add some homemade hot sauce. It is nice place to hang out and for those who like to drunk, they do prepare lots of great cocktails I've been told. read more
Stopped here after enjoying some of the Art Basel events and was not disappointed! The food was delicious and the server let us enjoy our night without rushing us out! This place has great ambiance. We went during Sunday brunch hour and were seated at the covered outdoor area. It reminded me of some restaurants in San Miguel de Allende in Mexico. I do not know if they have live music but there was American pop music coming from the outdoor speakers. We had guacamole and chips to start. The chips and tortillas are made with blue beans. I ordered the chicken and sausage enchilada. it came in a plate with 3 enchiladas along with smokey chipotle, red salsa, peanuts, lettuce and cotija cheese. I definitely could not finish it. The drinks were good but i thought they were pricey, $18 for mezcal mule. read more
We ordered tacos as part of my Wynwood food tour that my fiancé and I did together. The short rib tacos came with two salsas, sliced carrots and cucumber, and was served on blue corn tortillas. The short rib was so tender, you barely had to chew the tacos. I enjoyed every single bite! The ambiance was lovely and service was absolutely perfect. Highly recommend! read more

Bakan is one of the few restaurants I make sure to visit every time I am in South Florida. We always start off with the guacamole served with freshly made blue corn tortillas. Every dish I have tried has always been prepared with the same level of care and precision. My carne asada has always been cooked perfectly. The chicken tacos and quesadillas are also consistently awesome. The overall vibe of the restaurant matches perfectly with the neighborhood, incorporating nature as well as cultural elements. read more

Does anyone know if they're still open? Today is Tuesday, May 25th. We've been calling and can't get anyone to answer the phone and there isn't a vm either.
They are probably super busy. The Weekend tourist are already there.
Do they have Sunday Brunch?
We went during the week and they open at noon daily. There's no special brunch menu that I'm aware.
