I've been living in Brickell for a while now and it's been hard for me to find a place in Miami that is beautiful AND has excellent food. I used to bring out of town visitors to La Mar, but now that's gone. I decided to try Cantina La Veinte for the first time and it is now my #1 favorite restaurant in Brickell. It is the perfect place to bring friends from out-of-town to impress. Not only is the restaurant beautiful with flowers and waterside view (outdoor seating), the food is incredible quality. The Food: The Short Rib Risotto is one of the best dishes I've had. The Tuna Tosatadas and octopus are standouts as well. The quality of the tuna is excellent (a lot of places in Miami have poor tuna quality), and I loved my mango margarita as well. Would definitely order those again. The lobster dip was nothing special to me, and although the soft shell crab taco is popular, I personally didn't find it outstanding. The prices are more on the expensive side, but it is worth the quality. The Ambiance: The restaurant had stairs that led downstairs to a dining area that was open to the outdoors. We had a two seater table by the water, perfect for a romantic date night or intimate catch-up with a friend. I loved the live mariachi music! The restaurant had a lively bar and beautiful flowers decorations. The restaurant was also relatively easy to find - just keep walking towards the W in the area with the stones with faces, and you'll eventually run into it! The Service: Excellent. Servers were very kind and accommodating. No one rushed us to finish quickly. Also, it was easy to push back the reservation last minute and it seemed like they had a lot of availability for a Friday night at 9pm (hidden gem maybe?). As someone who lives in Icon Brickell - very disappointed with Cantina. We came down to watch the World Cup game at the bar, have a beer or two. Food was good, but took a very long time. We stopped by here before our flight back home. We had a lot of time, but the wait for the entree really pushed us. I ordered the caesar salad, short rib flautas, and panna cotta. The caesar salad was really good, I enjoyed how different it was, the roasted garlic-jalapeño dressing was great. For entrees, it took so long. It made sense because there was 7 of us, but 30 minutes passed. It turns out the reason why it took so long is because one of us ordered a chicken dish. Chicken takes a long time, but we all wished we knew ahead of time. Finally when the entree came, it was good, but it wasn't worth the wait. Lastly, the panna cotta was different and good. However, the churros were much better. Service was okay, but ambiance was nice due to the view. The food was overall good, but the wait was insane. More detailed review: The drinks are decent and are priced as what you'd expect for any restaurant by the water especially in brickell. Margaritas were good and so were the Moscow Mule I got the tacos gobernador and it was disgusting. It came rolled up in a tortilla with microwaved shrimp and tossed with cheese. The sauce provided (spicy) wasnt enough to help me eat the dish leading me to asking for the waiter to get me more from the kitchen. It came with poorly chopped vegetables that seemed to be green pepper that honestly didnt even do anything except for filling the plate. I could forgive the dish if it tasted good but it didnt. The shrimp looked microwaved without having ANY SPECK OF SEASONING or even it being GRILLED/CHARRED. You'd think they would throw at least some black pepper or salt but no not at all. The tortilla that wraps it together was cold too. You'd think this food would've been made by someone who's only experience eating Mexican food is by going to taco bell. No seasoning, no spices, no love. Just thrown together effortlessly knowing you will pay the Brickell tax. If you want a genuine experience eating Mexican food go somewhere else. This restaurant's purpose is to attract undeveloped taste buds and first dates for its scenery. read more

Cantina La Veinte is a beautiful restaurant located in Brickell right next to the W. They have convenient valet parking right in front of the restaurant. There is an upstairs indoor space with a beautiful bar, but downstairs is so whimsical. The water view is beautiful and the open air environment was perfect. We were out on a cooler night and they had heaters available as well. We were a table of 12 and everyone was very happy with their dishes. We started out with guacamole and chips, tuna tostadas, queso fundido and short rib flautas. Half of the table ate family style and shared several dishes, and the other half of the table ordered their own. Everyone enjoyed their options. I had the octopus which was good and my margarita was perfect. We really enjoyed listening to the live music with the strolling mariachi entertainers. We were there on a weeknight so it was not as crowded, and we did not feel rushed at all. We really enjoyed our time at the restaurant. read more

My team dined here for our holiday lunch and it was quite nice. Upon arriving, although we had a reservation, the staff was quite frazzled, there was literally no one in the restaurant but they were unaware of where to seat us. That was an odd vibe because we literally stood for about 15 minutes until they figured it out. Our waiter was a delight though, very friendly, with amazing recommendations, you could tell that there was a passion for what he did. The food was amazing, from the guacamole to the cheese apps, I got steak, seasoned very well and cooked to perfection. As part of a large group the selection was limited but the smaller plates to share were actually better than main course. I didn't enjoy my drinks, something was missing in the margarita and it felt like it was watered down. The appetizer with guacamole we ordered were very good. The steak tacos I ordered were tasty and fulfilling. At first I thought they were too small. But next time I'll create my own tacos like my friend did and they were even better al pastor. I attended a dinner here with a group of coworkers. We ordered several different menu items and the drinks were flowing. I definitely recommend this restaurant for a romantic setting. The seating is kind of an indoor/outdoor vibe and is right along the river with great lighting. The service was amazing! Everybody was so on top of it and super nice. And the food was all really tasty. they had the mariachis playing and at the end of our dinner, a magician came and did a few magic tricks for our group. Pretty shitty experience, not gonna lie ‍. I never give out bad reviews, and I hate to do it but this experience just sucked. My husband and I had just landed in Miami and had a few hours to kill before we could check into our room. We had seen this place on a previous trip on our walk and decided it would be a great spot to grab a happy hour drink and get some of the views in. It was about 1pm on a Thursday. The restaurant was probably only about 20% full. When we asked to sit at a table outside for a drink, they asked multiple times if we wanted to do happy hour at the bar. We said we were fine paying full price because we wanted to sit under the flowers with the view (obviously). It took nearly 5 minutes for us to even get waters. I ordered a glass of champagne. Waited somewhere around 10-15 mins more. Waiter finally came back and said they were out, when I asked for a different kind of champagne he was confused because he thought I asked for wine the first time. Easy mistake. So we order the correct kind. Another 5-10mins. We finally get the SINGLE glass. That's all we needed when he brought the champagne, I order a single order of tacos. Nearly half an hour goes by before he comes to me and says the order was never placed. There was an issue with their pad system. I was given a "complimentary" champagne for the mistake. I simply asked to get it to go -- at this point it was nearly an hour and quite frankly it was the worst service I've had in a long time. Oh, and the tacos freaking sucked. I have walked past this place for years and always wanted to have dinner there. Earlier this week, a group of friends and I were trying to decide on a place for dinner tonight and I suggested this place. I went on OpenTable and made a reservation for 815pm. We arrived at 820pm and the hostesses at the front were cold and unwelcoming. They told my group we would have to wait while the table was made ready. This was fine because we are patient, although one would think the table would be ready at the time we reserved it. A few minutes later, the hostess came back to us and said it would be several more minutes before the table was ready and suggested we go to the bar. As we walked to the bar, I passed several empty tables. This irritated me because it was obvious they were not being honest. We were finally seated 20 minutes later at a table with an extremely powerful fan pointed right at it. Our initial complaint about the fan was ignored. They said they could do nothing about it and the could not move us to another table. Absurd! The hostess even came over and gave us some attitude until I told her it was BS that they could not change a fan setting and scolded her for poor customer service. Finally, after pressing, they got a tall waiter to come and change the fan setting to something tolerable. The food was ok. I had the fried red snapper which was good, but greasy. It was apparent that the fish had been cooked in oil below the optimal temperature which led to the greasiness. My friends enjoyed the fried kale on my plate. We also had the guacamole which was bland. My friend had a steak which I tried and thought was good. I ordered a margarita and even found a problem there too. The drink itself was fine but the glass it was served in was very unbalanced. If you didn't hold it extremely carefully, the drink would spill out. It was served in an odd martini glass when it should be ideally served in a rocks glass. I had others at the table (who had not had anything alcoholic to drink for the night) to hold the glass and offer their assessments. Everyone agreed the margarita glass was problematic. Overall, this restaurant was a huge let down. I had such high hopes but they were dashed as soon as I walked in the door. I was embarrassed for even suggesting the place. I will not be back and will encourage others to stay away. read more

I feel so lucky to have this place right down the street from my house. They serve delicious upscale Mexican. I've been there a few times and ordered a variety of things including conchinita pibil tacos and mole and have loved everything. Their margarita selection is also outstanding. Cantina is always a go to weekend spot!! Great vibe, super lively and beautiful view of the water. The bar area is fun as well if you don't get a table. Service has always been great, drinks are awesome and the food is good. Elizabeth is an excellent server that was super friendly and attentive to our needs. She came by frequently to check in on us which I love. I would always recommend the margaritas- they come in a fun glass and there are a ton of flavors. For food our most recent visit, we ordered sopa de fideo (first time trying and I absolutely love), carnitas, short rib flautas and the queso fundido with chorizo. The flautas are my absolute fav! Was here for a work function, about 30 of us dining here one one night. There are many tables in their outdoor patio which is right by the water. It feels nice, but very crowded and a bit too noisy for me. What added to the noise was the mariachi band that was playing, which usually I would think is pretty cool, but I just wasn't feeling it, perhaps due to being squished with many other diners and dining room tables. Staff was friendly and pretty good at serving all of us. I ordered a chicken and vegetable dish that was cooked well being juicy with a nice sauce.
