Vanilla Latte and a Cinnabon

Great service and even better coffee. This cinnabun was the perfect amount of sweetness and pretty good size as well. Very cute spot with plenty of outdoor seating. I'll definitely be back!!

This place has an amazing breakfast spread! Just outside of Paia on the way to Hana, so you can skip the Paia crowds and get a delicious breakfast. They have something for everyone, including full breakfast plates with eggs, potatoes, and toast, to baked oatmeal, freshly baked pastries, and delicious tea and coffee drinks. So happy we found this place! There is some seating inside and a few more tables outside. Make sure to check the label on the key you grab for the bathroom so you don't end up having to walk back and get the correct key like we did!

Our favorite place for breakfast in Haiku! They have a wide variety of pastries available and breakfast items to choose from. We tried the Paniolo Skillet to share and Cinnamon roll. It was perfect for two! If you're hungry the Popeyes Omelette is another one of our favorites and French Toast. They have indoor and outdoor seating available. We enjoy coming here to have a relaxing morning upcountry. Kendall is our favorite barista and server! She makes good mochas and is always happy and cheerful.

I went here almost everyday of my vacation. The coffee is good! I stuck to an iced vanilla latte, cause you can't mess it up. I ordered the Ube latte once it was okay, doesn't come with espresso I added three shots cause I knew it was gonna be sweet if not. Breakfast I liked the skillets most over everything. They add fries to almost everything, and I noticed it seems like the fries are fried in like pan oil not like a fried because they come out oddly extremely oily. Like a genuine puddle of oil, that was my only complaint towards this place. The food is good, they just use hella oil.

All American breakfast

Baked on Maui served an excellent All American breakfast ~ the bacon was perfectly crispy, the home fries were flavorful, the scrambled eggs were spot-on, and the house bread was unbelievably good. The cozy, local bakery ambience with its warm, laid-back Maui charm made it an ideal spot to start the morning. The staff was friendly, quick, and welcoming.

Best breakfast we have had! Bread is baked fresh nightly. We enjoyed Baked on Maui so much. Worth the drive for sure!!!

The food and service were amazing. Both my husband and I had the Seaside Slam breakfast sandwich. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. To drink we had the iced vanilla latte. One of the best coffee drinks I have had. The restaurant has a small, homelike feel to it. The staff appeared to really enjoy their jobs which was very inviting.

I arrived right at 630am when they opened. It was a great option for breakfast at the start of my Road to Hana journey. It took them about 10 minutes to prepare my bagel. The bagel was perfect for filling me up for a day filled with activity. My first bite of the cinnamon roll, I was initially disappointed with the frosting . It's a little different but come 2pm after a long hike it was just the sweet treat that I needed. There is really only a couple of places for food - mainly banana bread before you get to Hana so this is a great place to stop and stock up for the day

Haiku omelette

I ordered the haiku omelette because i love eggplant but after waiting for our order i was informed they were out of eggplant, they substituted with tomatoes, onions, etc and it was still an excellent omelette. I also had their blue matcha hot latte, which was really delicious. The potatoes were cooked to perfection and perfectly flavored with spices. Served with sliced baguette. One orders at the counter but the service was still quite nice. We sat outside in the patio which is lovely! I would definitely return to Baked on Maui and would highly recommend it as well!

We were looking for a new restaurant to try for breakfast. My cousin found this on yelp, and I'm so glad she did! I ordered the ham & onion omelette. The carmelized onions were sooo good! The coffee was delicious as well. My cousin ordered French toast, and she said it was really good. There are a few stores right by the restaurant, which we stopped in after breakfast. I will definitely go back to this restaurant the next time I'm visiting Maui!

Sweet spot for breakfast in Haiku. Lots of coffee/tea options. Baked goods are large and delish. You order at a counter and the friendly staff move people through the line quickly. I had ube tea and a pastry, yummy! It's exactly the kind of local place that makes you want to live nearby!

Asked for a bacon egg and cheese croissant and they give me one single piece of bacon lady taking the order was also rude, place is a joke

Doris Y.

Worth all the good reviews and hypes! Good coffee, too! Wish we got more for the road. Learn from our mistakes and buy more for the remainder of the trips if you are on road to Hana.

Makawao, HI. Rather lush surroundings here with an…read moreenchanting peaceful vibe. An evening dinner here needs to be had outside, on the lanai. The inside seating has no romantic ambiance, better suited for lunch or breakfast. We had a lot of attention from two servers who attended to our culinary needs more than adequately. The vintage style lighting is perfect, in many cases they are staying with the warmth of incandescent lamps but the LED's that are in service are not too harsh and blend in. The warm garlic bread with caramelized onion was outstanding and we were served another round after devouring the first. The tempered butter really provided emphasis for the consumption. Our three course prix fixe menu started with soup or salad. Both were wonderful. The soup was full of kale but the flavors of the soup were absorbed by said kale and it worked well. The salad had fresh spring greens and the dressing was a light rice vinegar sesame that really complimented the greens without overpowering them. The Mahi Curry over jasmine rice came with roasted vegetables. The vegetables had a slight hint of char that was perfect, a rare attempt at this in restaurants in my experience. The curry was not overly spicy and slightly sweet, a good version. The fish was very good, ever so slightly overcooked for my preference. The glazed salmon was pretty awesome. The fish was cooked absolutely perfect. The glaze was not overly sweet and had a bit of soy sauce flavor to it. The roasted veggies on the side were great. The matcha pot de crème was rich and addictive. It was presented with fresh berries on top and was a delight. Lilikoi chia seed dragonfruit pudding with coconut was very different for me. Definitely what I would call an "Adult" dessert. Not one bit sugary and every bite interesting. Note to self: take it easy on the bread at the beginning of the meal and you won't get so stuffed.

We were sitting next to a large table, which seemed to believe they should command our servers attention. At every moment this reduce dthe overall experience. FYI, this is a small dog friendly restaurant. Two patrons had dogs on one side of the restaurant. They were well behaved, but I don't really want to eat with other people's pets and a fine dining situation. If you're lucky to go when they're not totally full, you should be able to have a very good experience.

All of the reservation times during sunset were taken, so we ate a little earlier but still managed to see the sunset as we were leaving. The views from this restaurant are absolutely breathtaking. We even got to experience a light rain shower followed by a beautiful rainbow while we were there. Our server was Tim, who was beyond kind, attentive, and engaging. He displayed some of the best hospitality I have ever experienced at a restaurant. He made wonderful recommendations and truly made us feel so special celebrating our soon-to-be baby. To start, we ordered the tako (octopus); it was served in the manner in which escargot is - tons of butter and garlic, and paired well with wonderful fresh-baked bread. For our entrées, both my husband and I did a duo where we could pick two smaller portions of the entrée dishes. I did a duo with the fresh lobster and lamb special, while my husband did a duo with the fish pasta special and the curry scallops. All four entrées were absolutely divine, and we thoroughly enjoyed getting to sample a little bit of everything from the menu. To wrap things up, we had to try the infamous pineapple macadamia nut bread pudding with salted caramel, and they even gave us a complementary dessert for our babymoon, which was their take on a s'more. Both desserts were phenomenal, but I could have easily eaten two helpings of the pineapple macadamia nut bread pudding. If you find yourself in Maui and have the opportunity to make a reservation at Merriman's in Kapalua, I cannot recommend it enough as this was one of those meals that my husband and I will be talking about for a very long time.

For starters, the tako (octopus) escargot (instead of snails) was so good! Ceviche was also great. I had the highly recommended shrimp and pork chow fun for entree. It's slightly different from the Chinese style chow fun in the sauce. The shrimp were cut up in small pieces. The pork was actually spicy sausage, so it should've been more specific on the menu. The sausage made the dish greasier and saltier than it has to be. I didn't like it. My husband had the pork quesadilla that had great flavors but a bit soggy. Daughter had the ahi tuna. She's had a lot of tuna dishes on this trip, but didn't like this dish as much especially the wasabi soy sauce. Son had the crispy pork shank, and that was very good! Falling off the bone tender, nice tropical salsa to balance the rich flavors. The bread pudding with ice cream was a lovely finish. Service was excellent.

They serve the food family-style but still high-end which was exactly what we were going for so we were not disappointed. Cocktails were great and the vibes in the evening are very nice for a more upscale night out. Food came out a little slower than expected and by the time our Korean fried chicken main course came out we were almost full and had to take it togo. But everything was really good regardless, my favorite being the mushroom salad even though it was a little difficult to chop up since they give it to you as a whole head of butter lettuce. The chicken was really good and really juicy, paired nicely with the side of pickled cucumbers

The restaurant itself is quite tiny with limited indoor seating, bar seating, and a stretch of patio seating. We were seated at the bar and had two various experiences with the two bartenders that were looking after us - the gentleman who was the bartender was extremely kind and attentive. He was engaging and made small talk with us. The female bartender was quite rude and cold, and I debated removing a star for her poor attitude and service skills. Service aside, my husband and I decided to try a few different items, including the Szechuan garlic noodles, pickled cucumbers, aji tamago, and Lion's Mane salad. All four dishes had wonderful flavor and were the perfect amount to share and leave full without being overwhelmed. I appreciated the freshness of the ingredients and the variety of spice. All in all, it was a tasty meal, but they definitely need to work on their consistency with employee service.

You don't have to be a student to eat here. ATMOSPHERE: This is the cafeteria of the school so don't expect any restaurant cues. The main cafeteria is on the first floor. It's bright and airy with communal tables of all sizes, with big windows for great outdoor views. The kitchen is divided into stations boasting specific names and cuisines. You order direct and pay for everything at the cashier line. Utensils, napkins, and condiments are last. I've been here a few times and it's never overly crowded. STATIONS (SEASONAL:) Farm To Table - Sandwiches. World Plate - Entrees. Paniolo Grill - Entrees. Raw Fish Camp - Sushi. Name comes from an old section of town on Maui. Campus Cafe - Burgers & quesadillas. Patisserie - Cookies & scones. Ramen X - Ramen! Yes!! FOOD: French Dip - O M G. This has to be THE best sandwich I have ever eaten! The meat was super soft and loaded with flavor. The cheese and horseradish (yuck, I'm so not a fan but could handle it in this sandwich) was gooey goodness. The bread which could've been toasted a bit more was fresh & soft. And the au jus - wow, this was super salty deliciousness! Came with a side of either pasta salad, which I had and tasted okay, or a green salad. Got some sour cream & onion chips which went perfect with it. Cheeseburger - Pretty good taste. They use Big Island cattle for the hamburger. Came with crinkle cut fries in a light seasoned salt. Penne Alfredo - Penne pasta, grilled chicken, and bits of zucchini, asparagus, onions, and mushrooms in an alfredo sauce. The flavor was a bit mild but still enjoyable. House Special Ramen - The broth had a nice shoyu based flavor and not overly salty. The noodles were fresh and cooked perfect. Toppings included bean sprouts, char siu, a poached egg, bacon (odd,) a big square of nori seaweed, fishcake, spinach, green onions and bamboo shoots. Pretty good portion size for $9.50. Edo Ya Special - Available in shoyu, shio, or tonkotsu broths. I chose the latter because no one that I know of makes this on Maui. The broth is smooth and creamy, the noodles are homemade and soft. It was drizzled with a chili oil for added flavor and topped with a soft boiled egg, spinach, bamboo, char siu, green onions, and nori. The char siu was the only disappointment of the dish as it had zero flavor and was too lean and tough with no fat - better for your health but not great as a topping. The portion was just right. SERVICE: The majority of the staff working in the kitchen are students. Some very eager, some timid but generally good service. OVERALL: Great food, great prices and good sized portions = a definite return! TIP: Hours are Monday - Friday 11am to 2pm, but a word of caution, sometimes one or more of the food stations may be closed due to unforeseen events schedules, class time, presentations, or even a lack of enrollment.
