Stopped by Story Maui while exploring Paia and it was such a cute little find The space is cozy, artsy (selling local jewelry) and relaxed -- perfect for slowing down before heading out on the Road to Hana or biking down Haleakala (which we did). We ordered the americanos, and they were so good -- smooth, bold, and not overly bitter. Just a clean, rich espresso flavor done right. You can tell they care about the quality of their beans and how they pull their shots. They do have a small, simple menu, which I think adds to the charm of a small town. A handful of espresso drinks, teas, and a few breakfast options like bagels and warm pastries. Not a huge selection, but everything feels intentional and well made -- quality over quantity. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and the whole place has that laid-back Maui vibe where you can sit, sip, and just enjoy the moment. We were walking around the cute surf town of Paia and I was looking for a Hawaiian flavored coffee to wake me up.... After having visited at least 4 coffee shops on the island I have to say my lightly sweetened coconut cold brew with a splash of milk was SO CREAMY. SO DELISH! We ate breakfast here one day and found the most amazing scones we've ever had. They were warm, moist, and seemed like they came out of the oven about eight minutes ago. We also had a bagel stuffed with various vegetarian goodies, including some eggs. I think they don't do meat here. The ambiance was interesting with lots of local? characters who looked like they either had already been on their surf boards or were going to head out to meditate after breakfast. We came back a second day and had a much less pleasant experience. This time the scone was still cold in the middle and nothing special. We found the seating crowded and ended up sitting next to a mentally ill person who appears to be a staple in this place. read more

Driving through Paia on our road to Hāna adventure and needed to stop for coffee. On the main route there weren't any obvious coffee shops but we lucked into finding Story. The drinks were tasty and the menu offered a variety to choose from but it was the people that made it remarkable. The stag was friendly and welcoming and the patrons were enjoying the morning in what appeared to be their favorite shop. A few artists engaged in conversation near others focused on their laptops but all seemed like they were at home. Complete with the laid back island vibe, there were art pieces for sale as well as a corner of eclectic items from local artisans. One of the earlier coffee shops open in the morning! Got a drip at 7:30am then back 2 hours later to buy a bag of beans and the bagel sandwhich (sourdough bagels!). Sandwhich was unique and delicious and good seating options. Would come back to try the açaí bowl. read more

This was our last morning coffee run before heading to the airport to finalize our Hawaii trip. We walked in and immediately noticed the chill vibe this cafe had to offer. They also had a clothing rack section with super unique finds. The staff were super friendly and I wish we had more time to just lounge. I'm a matcha girly but I was hesitant on ordering the Thin Mint Matcha--however, I was quickly convinced that it's a good option. She wasn't wrong, super delicious and the mint isn't too overpowering. I had never had a matcha latte with this flavor so it was different for sure. Stopped here before heading on the road to Hana. I'm not exaggerating when I say this is the best coffee I've ever had (and I am a huge self proclaimed coffee snob). I got the caramel coconut cold brew and my partner got an iced latte. I'm not even a huge fan of coconut and I swear this coffee was incomparable to anything I've ever had. I also got the banana almond butter toast. It was fresh, tasty, and also left a long lasting impression. The shop itself is super cute and clean. The baristas are so kind as well! Wonderful customer service from start to finish. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with genuine smiles and positive energy. The staff was patient, helpful, and clearly cared about the experience they were providing. My coffee was amazing, smooth, rich, and perfectly made. You can tell quality matters here. This is our favorite coffee shop. We've been coming here since it was called BETTER THINGS. Michelle, the owner, is a rockstar solid human who always has a smile and a warm greeting. It's a chill little spot close to Paia town (walk down the street to all the action) to catch up on emails or grab a coffee with friends. The food is delicious and they've recently added ramen lunch -- DELICIOUS! Keep an eye out for the evening events, like sushi night. This is a neighborhood spot that makes you feel at home. They have a pop-up corner with a changing selection of jewelry, clothes, hats, and artwork. Great spot! Came in early on our drive to Twin Falls - they just opened at 7am; important to mention that even though it's 7am the team here were smiling - a rare thing these days.. I drive past this place 5 days a week and finally was able to stop in the other day. Inside has lots of room to sit and stay but I ordered the breakfast bagel to go. Although no one had ordered before me, I had to wait a bit to get my bagel. Unfortunately, my everything bagel was burnt so it tasted bitter and was very lacking any flavor. The egg was cold and had 2 tiny pieces of lettuce. For almost $15.00 my bagel sandwich looked nothing like the picture, and I was very disappointed and will not be back. read more

So I live in Haiku now. Since the Lahaina Phukery... and this coffee spot is a great blessing to my coffee buzz soul. The environment here is clean, very breathable air. Housed with r large fans that blow down on you from an elevated ceiling, and 2 state of the art upper wall a/c units. The workers are all dressed in their relaxed clothing of their choice. Unlike the other big corporate coffee shops (if you can even call them a coffee shop)... you will feel Aloha'Ohana here. Open space seating and even some outside if you desire to enjoy cars passing by while you enjoy your time. A simple menu of fresh made foods and drinks here that will not overwhelm your sensors.
